It's official! 'Deuces' is his first number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs since 'Say Goodbye' hit that position 4 years ago. What about Kiss Kiss? #2 peak behind No One on R&B chart.

The vast majority of the most popular hits of our time aren't centered around a specific place, and when a place is mentioned it nonetheless doesn't dominate or overwhelm the context of the song and is designed primarily for imagery.
It's no mistake why Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'", for instance, is indeed more popular than it has ever been over two decades after its initial release. Because despite being a bittersweet, emotional song that was written specifically on conscious youth determinism to live free of expectation...............it easily speaks to ANY young generation................and Perry understood that you don't need name-drops and overthinking of details to deliver a classic. All you need, as has been repeatedly proven, is an open heart, a strong sense of melody and a balance of tension and repose to craft a hit that defines an era.

With all these jets and stuff talk, I must say.... that it is very refreshing that nowadays most Pop/Rap or whatever songs don't constantly refer to money, brand clothes, luxury or whatever....
Take for example the two Perry's singles, specially CG, where she could have made a list of luxury items, nowhere to be found there is the talk that was very present on Pop songs like 4-of more years ago.
I mean Fergie's video for Clumsy, of Stefani's ones, were like a department store with all the brand product placement.
End of rant.

Ke$ha has her fourth straight top 10 hit... Who's streak will end first; hers or Gaga's? I think you're forgetting GaGa had 6 straight pop #1s (7 consecutive top 5s) on airplay from a single album. A much more impressive feat than 4 consecutive hot 100 top 10s

A much more impressive feat than 4 consecutive hot 100 top 10s I don't think having genre-specific #1's is "much more impressive" than having top 10's on the hot 100, but considering all of them went top 10 too lol - yes, obviously gaga's streak is far superior to Ke$ha's.

I'm not forgetting anything... What in my question made it sound like I thought Ke$ha was superior? We don't know who will have the more impressive feat yet because neither one is done making hits.

Plus, when you think about it, Lady GaGa's was essentially from 2 albums. 7 Hot 100 Top 10s from 2 albums. Ke$ha has her 4 singles, and then her two features. Plus, Ke$ha has her re-release coming out so I have a feeling she'll be playing catch up - and winning

I know everyone is absolutely bound and determined to make it about one "winning" or "beating" the other, but I think Kesha and Lady Gaga have actually been following fairly similar song paths. First cd had 4 singles-2 major hits and 2 less major hits. Someone else can squabble and bicker about whether you can define which hit as technically "bigger" or whatever. Re-release about a year later. I wonder if Kesha will have her "Bad Romance" with the re-release.

TFM is a re-release of The Fame. Billboard counts the album together as 'The Fame' and the TFM separately as an 8-track EP. Yes some consider it a second studio album but GaGa never intended it to be that way

Yes some consider it a second studio album but GaGa never intended it to be that way No, she clearly intended for it to be that way. The Fame Monster was not a re-release of the album. A re-release was the original intention. But it changed, and GaGa announced that it would instead be her second album, just included with her debut album. Read this, it sums it up: So there you go. It's her second album, not a re-release.

even if Ke$ha does catch Gaga in that specific place, Gaga WILL still remain more of a pop culture icon. She is not just known for her songs, she is willing to push the envelope and will at the end of the day be remembered more than Ke$ha in most people's mind

Gaga, Ke$ha, Katy Perry. None of them have been around nearly long enough to be "pop culture icons," and IMO the jury will still be out for a while.

The Fame Monster (EP) is a stand alone album
The Fame and The Fame Deluxe are considered the same album but are stand alone albums separate from the EP
Gaga has released 2 albums + the remix to date

It didn't on the Hot 100 but it did on radio, which is where GaGa holds the record
