How come the #50 song on Country has 40 spins while #1 N&A on Country has 97 spins?

No one really knows how the country charts are compiled... it's some sort of secret formula.

the RR chart is based on a points system which brings audience impressions into account. Songs getting played on bigger stations at favorable time of the day gets extra points.

I'm surprised John didn't know that. R&R bases country on audience impressions and this question has been asked many times in the past.
That's kinda low for the #50 song on country though, isn't it? Only 40 spins!

That's kinda low for the #50 song on country though, isn't it? Only 40 spins! It's because songs go recurrent so fast and last a long time. On Mediabase, there are 126 recurrents and 596 golds with more than 40 spins.

But is the #50 position always that low? I don't frequent the Country chart so I don't know. I always notice however that the top recurrent's spins on R&R are usually spread out so that the top recurrent would have enough spins to be #4, for example, and then the second top would be #10 and so on. I suppose it evens out when you get closer to the bottom. How would the country chart look without a recurrent rule (with weeks on and stuff). I think that would be interesting!

On Mediabase, by spins, not points, the Top 50 Sans Recurrent Rule has 32 currents and 18 recurrents. The top gold, a Christmas song which goes 1,979-1 on the gold chart, would be Number 65 Sans Recurrent Rule.
