The 56th Grammy Awards January 26, 2014 on CBS Thanks to areyoureadytojump for finding this -- Winter Olympics may push Grammys into January 2014. Still unconfirmed, but sources in the article mention that the Grammys will be held on January 26th, 2014, a full two weeks ahead of its normal air date, which generally tends to fluctuate around Valentine's Day. Since we did the same thing with the 55th Grammy Awards thread, I figured that we can open the thread for next year's ceremony for discussion of potential nominees and competitors throughout the eligibility period. I'm still not sure if the eligibility period will be the same as it normally is every year or if it will be adjusted due the the moving of the date of the ceremony. So, keep all Grammy-related posts in here, whether it be discussion of nominees, performers, or airing information about the show next year. :)

I'll repeat a comment of mine from early last year: I'd suggest Emeli SandΓ© for BNA

Yes for Emeli. She should be nominated in a few other categories also.
Another thing: they should definitely bring back the separate Male/Female R&B categories.

I hope Tegan & Sara get a few nominations. And maybe Alicia could work her way back in as a Grammy darling.
Also, I hope they don't snub B again...
One more: Skyfall all over the place!

In 2010, I think it was pushed up two weeks and that mean the Grammy deadline was pushed up a month to August 30, 2009. That meant some of the year's biggest hits, like "Empire State of Mind" and "Bad Romance" were pushed into the following year's Grammys so they were up for Grammys a good year and a half after they were hits. Kinda like what will happen with "Locked Out of Heaven" at next year's awards.
If we're talking frontrunners for next year, I'd say Bruno is looking good to get a nod in the pop categories along with Record, Song and Album of the Year. That'll probably hold all the way until next year. We'll see which songs his label decides to submit where. Personally, I'd go "Locked" in Record, "If I was Your Man" in Song and Pop Performance.

Regarding the Dance/Electronica categories: - I expect to see Calvin Harris's "Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch)" or "I Need Your Love (feat. Ellie Goulding)" to get a nod for Best Dance Recording, along with Zedd's "Clarity (feat. Foxes)" and Avicii and Nicky Romero's "I Could Be the One". If Skrillex releases a new song this year, it's possible to get a nod as well.
- Zedd's Clarity and Calvin Harris's 18 Months will get a nod for Best Dance/Electronica Album. Also, Skrillex's Leaving - EP will get one as well or if he releases his first album or a new EP, it could get the nod.
- Expecting to see a Calvin Harris, Zedd, Eric Prydz, Nero and Skrillex remix nod in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical category.

Unless she has been nominated before, Emeli is eligible for Best New Artist. A few years ago, Lady Gaga wasn't eligible for Best New Artist simply because "Just Dance" had been nominated for Best Dance Recording the year prior.

Maybe Imagine Dragons and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for BNA? Emeli would be a great choice too.
David Bowie will probably get a few nominations. The reviews so far for his latest album have been really positive.

I think Stay might have a chance in Pop Dual Performance or whatever its called Depends on its longevity. It's Pop Vocal Duo/Group/Collaboration, so that's a lot of competition for only five nomination slots, and if 2013 ends up like 2012 in any way (domination of groups -- M5, fun., etc.), it may not hold much of a chance. Predicting these nominations is the best part for me because it's great to look back once the eligibility period ends and laugh at how farfetched some of our original calls were.

^I believe Kendrick will get those nominations, but Eminem is releasing an album so anybody else might as well not worry about it (except for possibly Kanye, who is the only person to ever beat Em in the rap album category). And I see a rock or indie type act winning BNA.

BNA = Kacey Musgraves. Trust me. I think Same Trailer, Different Park could make AOTY. Kacey would be a "rookie" but other debut albums have made the cut in previous years. It's going to get great reviews and the "'realest' country album in years" talk around it will help. "Merry Go 'Round" seems like SOTY/ROTY material but I believe it was released within the eligibility period for last year. Maybe if they actually go with "Follow Your Arrow" and country radio does their thing Grammy voters will rally around her. The 20/20 Experience for AOTY as well. I was looking at Wikipedia and hadn't remembered that Justified had gotten an album nomination; they really like Timberlake as an artist quite a bit.

^Yeah, after listening to Same Trailer, Different Park, it should easily pull several Country nominations for KM, as well as some possible general field nods. I really hope "Follow Your Arrow" receives a solid response from Country radio, but it's still too liberal to clear the conservatives of the genre. Whatever, though. The Grammys will still eat her material up.
