These two singers have SO many AMAZING pop songs. In your opinion, why haven't they moved to a massive superstar status? Image? Bad marketing? Not the right moment for their music style? Anything else? Or perhaps you consider their songs not that good after all?

Carly is a case for improper marketing. CMM was essentially a novelty-esque song and it really didn't show how strong of a writer she was to begin with. I love the other singles from TK, but let's be honest, they were a bit generic even considering the edm popularity at the time. Then she turned right around and attempted to release another similarly bubblegum song in IRLY as a lead, again, not showing off the sheer brilliance of the best pop album of the 2010s that is EMOTION. She stabbed herself in the foot trying make herself get a viral hit and basically alienated the rest of her music.
IMO, they should have led and spent the budget on another lead, "Run Away with Me" or IMO "Gimme Love", instead of Tom Hanks. And since then it just doesn't seem like her label has truly been all that invested in her.
I could on and on about this forever.

I donβt think radio listeners (which is what a pop artist would need to get to that next level imo) would ever really *get* her. Theyβd get the catchy factor, as they did with CMM but they wouldnβt have the capacity to dig beyond that and would just chalk her up as another pointless pop star. Tldr, itβs not her, itβs the audience.
