The listening party was amazing. I'll give more details later but this album is without a doubt her best.
One of my favorite lyrics was from "One Way Ticket".
Something along the lines of "Tell your boss where he can stick it" and then "life's like a lollipop, you just gotta lick it". It was a very goofy, laid-back type of song, but it was great.
Carrie so nice and sweet. She gave us all tickets to the Opry and a $25 gift certificate to the new Opry Backstage Grill.
P.S. Carrie hugged me and we had a little chat while she autographed 2 things for me and then we took a pic together. :'(

"Blown Away", "One Way Ticket", and "See You Again" really stand out on the album sampler. I can't wait to hear them in full.

Here's a more in-depth recap of my experience today.
The listening party was about 20 or so of us from the Fan Club. We went into the studio, and they had two comfy chairs set up at the front of the room with a small table in between them. There were 2 separate sections next to each other with a few rows of chairs for us fans. Behind the chairs at the front of the room was a glass window where you could see the actual studio where the recording is done.
At the back of the room, they had food and beverages for us. Desserts (cupcakes from Ivey Cake in Nashville), popcorn and some other stuff.
Carrie casually walks in with a couple of other people, and she is dressed in jeans, sparkly slippers and a black hoody-type jacket over a white shirt. We clap for her. We were SO close to her. This was a rather small room, and Carrie is literally 20 feet away from us.
She thanks us for coming and she and I believe a guy named Dennis, who mixes and works on her music with her talk a little, and then Carrie asks us if we want to go on a tour of the studio. She first points out the stairs leading up to a loft above where we were seated, and talks about which instruments get played up there, and what not. She then walks us into the room behind the glass where they explain to us everything that goes on during the recording process.
This was so cool, because it was like a school field trip and Carrie was our tour guide. We walked with her, stood next to her and she was just casually talking and chilling with the small group of us, as if we were friends.
We then go back to the seating area and Carrie sits at one of the chairs in the front of the room, and Dennis(?) sits in the chair next to her. We first listen to "Good Girl" and Carrie is doing her little dance moves in her chair.
The song is done and us fans make comments in between songs and just chat with Carrie. She tells us this is very casual, and to not hesitate if we want to go and get more food or go use the bathroom down the hallway.
The next song is "Blown Away". EPIC. AMAZING. We gave Carrie a standing ovation after it played, and Carrie covered her face in embarrassment. The guy next to me said that she has to make that a single, and she said something like she would imagine it will be at some point. ;)
Carrie then states that the next song is "Two Black Cadillacs", and that it's also a dark song. She said that even though both songs are pretty dark, she felt like she couldn't put a wedge between them on the album, which is why they are back-to-back on the track listing. I believe it was this song, that had an extended ending with the band just playing for quite some time after Carrie stops singing on the track. Carrie told us how she wanted the band to keep playing when they were recording the song, but that if it were to be a single there would be a radio edit. The guy Dennis said that he already had an edited (shortened) version of the song ready. So it looks like this may also be a single at some point. TBC is another amazing one, and you have to hear it in full to really appreciate it.
"See You Again" is next, and before the song plays, Carrie tells us about how she wrote it for the Narnia movie, and was waiting for the chance to get to use it somewhere and that she felt like it belonged on the album. This was one of my favorites on the album. Her vocals are absolutely beautiful on this, and another fan pointed it out and Carrie thanked them.
Next is "Do You Think About Me" and Carrie mentions how it's a sweeter song. Another one that I really loved. I think this will grow more and more, but I loved it based on the clip, and it's even better in its entirety.
Next up was "Forever Changed". Carrie got a little emotional before was even able to give us some background info on the song, so she just signaled for the guy in the studio to hit the play button lol. While the song was playing, Carrie was just looking down, as if she was about to cry at any minute, but she didn't. Some of the fans got emotional. As soon as it was over, Carrie held up a box of tissues that was on the little table next to her and said "Who wants one?". We laughed, and Carrie told us that we'll never hear that one live. I shouted out "You have to!" and some people laughed, and other fans commented "You can do it" and things like that.
Carrie then states that the album is about to get a little happier. "Nobody Ever Told You" was next. This is another little happy tune, similar vibe to "Do You Think About Me".
Next up was "One Way Ticket". Carrie said something like, "we brought in margaritas for the song", so another fan and I made a joke about the drinks being for us, and she said "Not for you guys!" and started laughing. She spoke about how Josh Kear is a very serious guy, who writes serious material like what he wrote on "Blown Away" and "Before He Cheats", so that this song is a very different type of write for him. The song was awesome and fun, had an islandy Bob Marley-esque vibe to it. Definitely a stand out for me, and a lot of us laughed and some of the lyrics that I mentioned in my previous post and Carrie loved our reactions.
"Thank God For Hometowns" was next, and Carrie explained how she immediately dismissed the song once she saw the title, because she didn't want another typical country song about hometowns, and as she said, "I love my Mama" songs and we all laughed. She said that there are great songs about hometowns, but there are just so many. But once she heard the demo, she felt that this song was different in a few aspects, and how she really felt the lyrics, and ended up loving the song.
"Leave Love Alone" was next. Not one of my personal favorites, but it was still pretty good. I think this song had some "na na na"'s in it (it might have been another track though, I can't remember), and Carrie said "You can't have a Carrie Underwood record without some na na nas in there", to which we laughed.
"Cupid's Got A Shotgun" was next, and was another favorite amongst us fans. Again Carrie mentioned how Josh Kear doesn't really go for these types of songs, and how he probably wanted to run away from them after what they had him writing. Carrie also joked about how she had a list of hunting-related words that she didn't even know the meanings of, and tried to learn them and fit them into the song. The song is extremely catchy, very country, and should definitely be a single as it is the really only other true rocking song on the album aside from "Good Girl".
"Wine After Whiskey" was next, and Carrie mentioned how it was written for Play On, but it didn't really have a place on that album, but some of her people were really pushing for her to find a place for it on this album, so they brought it back to the top of the list for songs to be included on Blown Away.
We ended with "Who Are You". Carrie said "this one was sent over to me by Mutt Lange" and the guy next to me yelled out "Shania Twain" and a few of us started laughing and Carrie said "yup" and kind of laughed too (I guess we were laughing because of the awkwardness of how his and Shania's marriage ended). Carrie just signaled for the song to be played, and didn't say anything else after laughing.
"Who Are You" is a lot better than the clip, and I'm not sure when Mutt wrote the song, but I got the feeling that he wrote this song about Shania after their divorce. You'll have to hear it in full to understand what I'm saying, but regardless, Carrie's voice sounds amazing on it and she hits a pretty high note in the song.
After it was over, they told us we could line up for a picture with Carrie. They had the Blown Away album cover print outs for us to have autographed for those who didn't bring their own items. Some of us chilled around the room, and Carrie walked over after talking to a few fans to take pics and sign autographs.
I got up to Carrie, and I'm not sure if she recognized me from my first meet & greet with her 2 years ago, but she said "How are you?" and hugged me. It was amazing. I was nervous, but I found it easy to talk to her, because she's just so nice and laid back. When she talks to you, she looks you right in the eyes just as if you were talking to a good friend. She treats you like you are one of her friends.
She signed the photo of us from my Meet & Greet and also signed the Blown Away picture for me, so I got 2 autographs. I joked with her about stealing sharpies when she was signing, then we started talking about our dogs and animal shelters. I thanked her for doing this for us, because it was so awesome. After she signed my stuff, we almost forgot to take our picture and then she was like "Wait, we have to take a picture!" and we did. They said they will e-mail us the picture. I told Carrie thank you again, and I left.
It was such an amazing experience that I'll never forget. I don't know if I'll ever get to experience her in that type of intimate environment again. It felt like we were hanging out with her in her living room. And of course, she was nice enough to give us all tickets to Keith Urban's Opry induction (even though I had already bought my own ticket, she gave me a better seat lol) and also a $25 gift certificate to the new Grand Ole Opry Backstage BBQ Restaurant.

That is one epic experience right there! Something you'll truly cherish for a lifetime! Congrats on being one of the lucky ones, and thanks for sharing! No problem! I will definitely never forget it. I was really upset about not being able to go to the Fan Club Party in June because I'm having surgery, but I would take this type of experience over the Fan Club Party any day. It's funny how things play out. If I wasn't having surgery, I may have ended up at the Fan Club Party in June and not this. This was a last minute thing, and once I got the invite, I knew it was meant to be.

^I think you forgot to mention "Good In Goodbye" in your review... What did you think of that one? I love it from the demo!
Glad you had a good time. Reading that summary made me smile and wish I was there. Sounded amazing! I would've died from happiness. Haha

Thank you Ant for such a wonderfully detailed account of your time with Carrie...that experience must have felt surreal. In regards to the Mutt Lange song, 'Who Are You', remembering that Shania and Mutt's marriage didn't end amicably, as he left for another woman who happened to be a good friend of both Mutt and Shania, I find it strange that he would have written a love song about Shania after their divorce...also,I do believe that Mutt does hold strong spiritual beliefs,...anyway it could be a love song but maybe the love song is with God...so I guess the song is open to interpretation by the listener, which is perhaps the way it should be...

Thanks for the review, Ant! Sounds like a once in a lifetime experience. I'm even more excited for this now.

The guy next to me said that she has to make that a single, and she said something like she would imagine it will be at some point. ;) Carrie then states that the next song is "Two Black Cadillacs", and that it's also a dark song. I was on such a buzz from being there, that I don't remember the lyrics to a lot of the songs, but when I heard this one in full, I didn't really get a love song vibe from it. It was more of a "I used to love you"-type song, if I remember correctly.

^I think you forgot to mention "Good In Goodbye" in your review... What did you think of that one? I love it from the demo! Glad you had a good time. Reading that summary made me smile and wish I was there. Sounded amazing! I would've died from happiness. Haha Ah, yes. Honestly, this one didn't stand out on the album for me. It's definitely not a weak track, but some of the other songs are so powerful either lyrically or vocally, that I kind of forgot about this one. I apologize if some of my song reviews are vague, but I was honestly on such a high from being there that it was hard to pay attention half the time with Carrie sitting right in front of us lol.

In case you guys didn't know, "Good Girl" is being released in the UK on 7 May. I'm fairly certain she's never released a single here before.

Ok Ant...I am so jealous for 1 that you had that experience...it sounds absolutely amazing and second based on what I have read it sounds like you were in Starstruck Studios and I have always wanted to set foot in there.. :)
Second reading about each song I can't wait to hear this album and I already pre-ordered the album but I really want it to come up online somewhere haha so I can listen to it now!

Ant pretty much covered everything in his review, but I thought I'd post mine anyway... First of all, I never thought I'd be writing one of these. Ever. So bare with me! And secondly, it was nice meeting all of you!
I got to the listening party with my cousin Christine (the one wearing all red, for those of you who don't know/don't remember). Then, we took some pictures with a bunch of FC members outside the building! My aunt and my mom were walking away from the studio as they were checking our IDs and somehow they got let in as well. So it was all four of us! Very very cool.
Once inside, we sat down and waited for Carrie. She came in shortly thereafter, wearing a T-shirt with a jacket and some really sparkly shoes. She is so pretty (and little) in person! A man named Dennis also came in, who mixed a lot of the songs on BA. Carrie explained that Mark (Bright) couldn't be there because he had had knee replacement surgery and he was really bummed out about that! She then told us about the history of the studio and we got to take a tour (which was a bit awkward, mind you, because I couldn't go up the step and had to go around. Ha. ) She also moved furniture for me which we got a GIANT kick out of (I’m a weirdo). After the tour, she played the album, and she had something to say about almost every single song. Good Girl was first to get our “feet wet” and all of us were singing along. After that was BA, which is a STUNNING song. We all gave her a standing O (minus myself lol, sorry, I had to). I’m not gonna give too much away, but every song is fantastic and this is her best album yet! Standouts to me were definitely “Blown Away,” “Two Black Cadillacs,” “See You Again,” “One Way Ticket,” “Forever Changed,” (which you could tell she had a personal connection with because she wouldn’t even mention it by name and was looking down the entire time it was playing), “Leave Love Alone,” “Cupid’s Got a Shotgun”, and “Who Are You.” After the album was over, Carrie asked us if we had any plans that night because she felt bad that we came all this way just to hear the album. She suprised us all with tickets to Keith’s Opry induction! This was such a huge treat. My aunt LOVES Keith and couldn’t believe we were going! We also got two gift certificates to the Opry Backstage Grill. Thanks Carrie!
MEET AND GREET
Let me just say that I couldn’t believe I was actually meeting Carrie. I’ve been waiting 7 years for this! My mom wanted to get out as early as possible to get dinner and get to the Opry, so I was first. I don’t remember too much, as it’s all kind of a blur, but I’ll try to recall what I can...
Carrie: Hi! Me: Hi Carrie! The album sounds great! “Who Are You” is probably my favorite. My family is really strong in their faith and I love that you sang about it! Carrie: Aww, thanks! I’m glad you liked it! *signing autograph* Who is this for? Me: Emma! Carrie: E-M-M-A? Me: Yup! She wrote “Emma, thanks for coming out to hear the album first! -Carrie Underwood”
I handed her a copy of PO that we had picked up shortly before we got there.
Carrie: Is this for you, or someone else? I can make it out to someone else if you’d like! My mom: It’s for her! *signs* “Emma, much love, Carrie Underwood” Carrie: Time for a picture!” Me: I hope you don’t mind, but you might have to do it twice if that’s okay. I blink in every picture! Carrie: No problem! We got several pictures. One with Christine and me, one with all four of us, and one with Carrie and myself. Me: Thanks Carrie! Carrie: No problem... it was nice meeting you!
Fantastic experience.

Emma, I hope you don't mind my asking, but why couldn't you get up the step, and why did she have to move furniture for you? Perhaps you mentioned the reason earlier but I didn't see why in your review so I thought I'd ask. Also, glad you had a wonderful time and thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed reading your extensive reviews, Ant and Emma. You two have made me even more excited then I already was. One question: has it ever been comfirmed that iTunes is streaming the whole album Tuesday? I don't want to be disappointed when I wake up early

Okay, thanks. That sounds reliable indeed, so I guess, unless they change their minds, non-FC members will get to hear it in 2 days. Can't wait.

Just a quick thought, I'm watching TV and saw a commercial for the London Summer Olympics. How epic would it be for Carrie to be booked as a performer for the opening ceremony? That's basically the ultimate source of world wide promotion. The opening ceremony is watched all over the world in many countries. Not only this, but she's planning to expand into the UK this album era, and this would be the ultimate promotion.
I think it would be really cool to see Carrie perform, especially knowing she's being watched literally across the entire globe.

This is probably why they moved the FC listening party online to Monday so they are able to hear it before the Itune stream

By the way guys, after hearing the entire album, I can pretty much peg the singles:
2) Blown Away 3) Two Black Cadillacs 4) One Way Ticket 5) Cupid's Got A Shotgun
Not in that order of course, but I'd definitely predict those as singles. TBC was pretty much confirmed too.
If they decided to do more than 5, I could also see maybe "Nobody Ever Told You", "Who Are You" and/or "Wine After Whiskey" getting released.

I don't know about those 4. I'd say "Blown Away" is definitely next (deservedly so) but I do think either "Wine After Whiskey" or "Forever Changed" will get a release instead of those 4 (unless they go 6 deep). After hearing the album once through I personally think that "Two Black Cadillacs" could be passed on being a single, regardless of them saying they have a shorter version ready to go just in case. It's still a great song. Carrie does need a slower song as a single. And where "Wine After Whiskey" might work better on radio, I've never heard a track where Carrie sounds as good as she does on "Forever Changed".

^ There's no way Forever Changed will be a single since Carrie kept saying she can't perform it live.
