a nice interview done yesterday with Jordin. www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0518jordinqa0518-ON.htmlQ&A with Jordin Sparks Erin Zlomek The Arizona Republic May. 18, 2007 12:42 PM American Idol finalists Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis held a conference call with reporters Friday morning. Here's what Glendale teen Jordin had to say about her Idol experience: QUESTION: Because your dad (Phillipi Sparks) was a professional football player and was in the public eye, has that helped you handle your sudden fame? ANSWER: I think it did. My dad took pictures a lot and did interviews all the time, and I was constantly watching him. When he would sign autographs, I would just be watching so intently. He said to me the other day that it was really weird, because he was watching me do it and how it's all turned around. I think (watching him) has helped me in front of the camera and in interviews. So, thanks Dad! Q: Several people long thought Melinda (Doolittle) was the front runner. What was your reaction to her getting knocked out? A: When it was down to three of us, it could have gone any way. There were 60 million votes - that is way more than any other week besides charity week. I was so sad to see her leave, but at the same time, she is gong to be totally fine. We were talking about it and she was having an amazing night. She kept saying, "It'll be OK, it'll be fine," and at the same time I knew that. She's an amazing performer. I feel very blessed to be in the finale with Blake because, actually, I thought it would be me going home. I am really surprised . . . At the finale, it's going to be OK, becasue all 12 of us will be there. Q: What past Idol would you most like to model your career after? A: I love Kelly Clarkson. The way her career has gone is so amazingly well for her. She has Grammys and Number 1 hits and still manages to stay out of the tabloids. I love how she has so many different generes in her albums and she isn't anybody but herself. I'd love to do something like that. Q: What is your strategy going into the finale? How do you differentiate yourself from Blake? A: Blake and I are just two toatlly different singers, so it's just really crazy. Blake is a great performer and entertainer. I'm really honored to be in the finale with him. If I had any strategy, it would be to give all I can do. I know it sounds so cliché. But if you don't give every ounce of yourself to a song, it's just not going to work. Q: Who was your favorite celebrity mentor? A: I loved meeting Martina McBride because I've listened to her music for so long. I loved meeting Gwen Stefani because she's my generation - everyone my age listens to her. I think the person who gave the best advice was Jennifer Lopez. She made us feel so relaxed. She said if you can give out the emotions in a song, that's all that matters. If one person feels the music, then you've done your job. I think that is so true. I want to reach people. If I can reach one person in the audience, than I will be fine. She (Lopez) said it doesn't matter if you sell a million record or 500,000 records, if you touch someone with your music, you're doing well. Q: Prior to Ido,l you were working on your second CD. How have you grown and will you scrap that and start fresh? A: I was working on three songs . . . after Idol, I would love to take those songs and try and turn the music a little bit toward what I am liking now. Theyre all more country based - don't get me wrong, I still love country music - but I think to grow from what I have in mind, I have to tweak that a little bit. Which I don't mind, because I helped write them.

I really hope she wins. I honestly think she deserves it over Blake. Blake could've gotten a deal without American Idol in the long run. It would've been harder for Jordin.

It's pretty obvious she's gonna win IMO. Blake is awesome and all, but she just seems like the obvious winner.

I'm not voting but she undoubtably deserves the title over Blake. I'll pay attention to her career only if her singles sound intriguing.

Melinda should have won...but anyway. I cant imagine her as an artist. she has no personality and I think they are just gonna water her down even more and she will sing bubble gum pop songs like Kat McPhee.

I love Jordin, but doubt I'll buy her album.
It has to be really good for me to buy it. But I have a feeling she will be a mix of Kat/Diana on her album. And that makes me sick... :(

I hope Jordin wins and I will be voting for her. I love Blake too but he doesn't need to win, nor he shouldn't win.

I would really like Jordin to win now that Melinda is gone, despite some of the pimpage she's received.
Hopefully she won't go down the Diana DeGarmo route. Jordin seems more mature than her, though, and hopefully will release a good debut album.

Wow, so she is indeed the chosen one from the beginning, eh? I know she's going to win. I've said it ever since the top 12. They always over compliment her. Okay Randy saying that she gave the best performance on idol ever was a crock of shit. It was actually a bad performance, I don't remember what week it was. They always pimping her out to the audience and I noticed it weeks back. SO I'm not surprised at all at this article. It just confirms what I already had a feeling about.

Considering that they didn't even try with Diana and that they will HAVE to with Jordin...I don't think she'll fail.

Yeah, they start overpimping her since the first week of top 12. I thought her performance was mediocre, but Simon's all "You just made it a three-girl race", I was like "huh? that?". But of course they never get more blatant than the "best vocal ever" comment on inspirational week. Heck, she's not even the best that night! Well, after their chosen one got kicked off at the fourth place last year, finally the producers get what they want. Congrats to them, I guess.

Also, about the article. The website is very anti-Jordin anyway. I don't know I would believe everything they say. Regardless didn't Lexi-Lu have Kat on their website last year?
