People are always asking "How many spins did ____ peak at?", so I compiled a list of the spin peaks of some of the more recent #1 songs on Mediabase. If any of them are wrong, feel free to tell me, because some of these may be inaccurate, and if you know a spin peak that I don't have up here, please post it and I'll add it to the list! Note: This list doesn't go by "official" Sunday updates. Its based on the max spin peak of a song, whether it was on a Sunday or a weekday.2005-PresentSong | Artist | Spin Peak | 'Firework' | Katy Perry | 13,885 | 'Grenade' | Bruno Mars | 13,801 | 'California Gurls' | Katy Perry | 13,240 |

I think another cool list would be the amount of spins a song had when it first hit #1. I remember there have been songs with a little more than 8000 spins hitting #1 and I remember songs that didn't hit #1 till they had over 10000.

Didn't "Hollaback Girl" have a spin count in the 9000 range? I remember because it had the spin count record until Hips Don't Lie broke it the next year.
It would be interesting to have the number of stations for each peak, that way we could see the average.

It sucks because a song like WBT, when looking at the chart, had a relatively low spin count, but that's before the panel switch. If it were to have had the same amount of success after the panel switch, it would be somewhere near the top of the list. I'll try to look back and find HG's.

^ Yea, that's why I think having the number of stations would be really cool to have.
Just checked, Hollaback Girl peaked at 9,582 spins. :)

"Complicated" had over 10,000, but it's sort of like comparing apples with oranges the farther back you go because of fluctuating panel sizes. And I'll beat JCMF3 to the punch by mentioning "Lady Marmalade" has the CHR/Pop record for spins, somewhere north of 11K.

I got 9598! Haha! Pop: #1 - 9598 spins - +195 76.303 million audience impressions "Complicated" had over 10,000, but it's sort of like comparing apples with oranges the farther back you go because of fluctuating panel sizes. And I'll beat JCMF3 to the punch by mentioning "Lady Marmalade" has the CHR/Pop record for spins, somewhere north of 11K. Right. I think 'How You Remind Me' had a huge amount of spins too, but like you said, the further you go, the more complicated it gets. So I'm going to keep it 2005 onwards.

I have 10,184 spins as a spin peak for "Complicated" for the data ending 8/10/02, which would be 8/16/02 published. I'm checking LM now.
EDIT: Can't get the LM stats. Sorry!

Wow, I didn't remember that SW got that high up there in spins. Awesome that it did though, definitely my favorite pop song of last year.

I remember when it got a sudden second wind at the top and there's was that tiny chance that it could break that 11K, but it lost steam and started to decline. >:( (Though I personally thought if Pink were to break a record like that, it should be with a better song. Just my opinion though.)

I remember all the fuss last year when BL was so close to hitting 11k cause no song had ever done it. Plus how would it even be possible to peak with over 11k spins back in '00 when there weren't even close to as many CHR stations as today?

Ugh never understood why Dilemma was that big, such a repetitive song with a very fast burn rate, imo.

Did London Bridge ever become #1 or not (I've been wondering that for some time)? If so what was it's peak?

Quite remarkable how Leona was virtually unknown in the U.S. and to have her first single release do what it did is just incredible IMO.

Yeah, in 2001 the panel was somewhere around 180 stations. Songs commonly got 100+ adds in a single week. One week, songs by Sugar Ray and 98 Degrees each got about 170 adds. (Don't ask me why I remember this, lol...)

2005 - Present Bleeding Love 10993 So What 10875 Apologize 10752 Hot N Cold 10734 Single Ladies 10517 Poker Face 10281 Promiscuous 10256 Just Dance 10254 Irreplaceable 10232 Big Girls Don't Cry 10231 Right Round 10150 No One 10126 Leavin' 10117 SexyBack 10092 With You 10037 Gives You Hell 9933 Low 9921 Take A Bow 9864 Hips Don't Lie 9843 Love Song 9799 Say It Right 9797 Disturbia 9749 Forever 9673 Hollaback Girl 9598 Womanizer 9570 Live Your Life 9568 What Goes Around 9563 Cupid's Chokehold 9488 Circus 9467 We Belong Together 9460 Stronger 9412 Love Story 9324 The Way I Are 9321 U + Ur Hand 9314 Summer Love 9284 I'm Yours 9140 Who Knew 9117 2000 - 2005 Complicated 10184 Lose Yourself 9193 Dilemma 9144 Interesting list, thanks for compiling! You may have already taken care of this, but I notice these are daily spin peaks. Are those last three daily (as opposed to weekly, counting only Sunday night updates) peaks as well? Doesn't really matter which ones are used, as long as it's consistent throughout. And yeah, "Lady Marmalade" peaked at 12,175 spins, but if you convert that to average spins per station, most if not every song on this list actually did better.

Most of the songs from 2005 - Present are from daily updates. I figured it would be good to have the maximum number of spins possible the song had. However, the ones on the bottom end of the list are from official updates, I believe, but like you said, as long as it's consistent enough to have an accurate idea of where a song peaked. I think it impossible to get the correct spin peak for every song (lots of threads weren't updated daily with updates 2-3 years ago like they are now) but all of the numbers I posted are pretty approximate estimations.

Why does everyone refer to Bleeding Love as the record to break, when lady marmelade had 12k+ spins?
