Yikes but any new U2 will be purchased by me. City Of Blinding Lights should be around what they go for hopefully.

Hopefully it's more U2 and less typical Guetta.

this isnt for real right lol?? Nsync rip off? It's the album cover from the last time they went in this direction (released a year before NSync's debut album, ahem), with a notable lack of success. Oh I see kk thanks for clearing that up!

They're also working with RedOne, who will play guitar. Bono wants it to sound "sci-fi".

I love U2 but this project is...alarming to say the least.

I love U2 but this project is...alarming to say the least. My thought exactly. A full dance album with sci-fi sounding songs I seriously hope they don't taint their image and reputation trying to reinvent themselves.

I don't get why they would do this. They certainly don't need to reinvent themselves for popularity. They're doing a massive stadium tour this summer.
I can't stand David Guetta's music. Yikes.

Everything about this project so far is reminding me of Hard Candy and I think it'll be received the same way.

I actually liked Pop. So did I. I enjoyed some of their electronic-influenced material. I tend to enjoy the remixes of their songs.

The 20th anniversary edition of Achtung Baby is being released next week and comes in five configurations: I'm listening to the 'Baby' version of the album featuring demos of the songs on it, and I'm kind of loving the early "Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Aournd the World" take.

I really like "Ordinary Love". It was produced by Danger Mouse.

Bono: 'U2 are on the verge of irrelevance'
Bono has claimed U2 are "on the verge of irrelavance". Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe, he discussed the band's new album after the group released new song 'Invisible' as a free download yesterday (February 2). Asked whether it was difficult to stay relevant, Bono responded: "We're on the verge of irrelevance. You have to make stuff relevant to you and where you're at, make an honest account of what you're going through. If that's relevant to other people, great. But we don't know." The frontman also spoke about the inspiration behind the group's as-yet-untitled thirteenth studio album, saying: "We went back to why we wanted to be in a band in the first place. We were listening to the Ramones and Kraftwerk – you can hear both on 'Invisible'. It opened up a whole valve for me writing, it was like a damburst of sorts." Bono confirmed that the new record is still being worked on "in this great capital, in a dank basement" and would be finished in two months. Talking about the band's return to the stage, he expressed a desire to "play indoors". He said: "We love those big outdoors shows – we've had some of the best nights of our lives [playing those]. For this album, we're going to start indoors. We'd like to play the O2 [arena]. Sometimes it's nice to play intimate things like that." www.nme.com/news/u2/75265

Billboard.com:
No U2 Album, Tour Until 2015 (Exclusive)
Billboard has confirmed with multiple sources that U2's forthcoming album has now been pushed back until 2015, with the band recently scheduling additional sessions with producers Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth. (Danger Mouse remains onboard as the project's central producer.) "It seems to be taking longer for them to finish an album as they get older, but the great thing about U2 is that the whole of a record is always better than the sum of its parts," says a source close to the project. "That magic that the band always seems to capture ... they have yet to capture it."

Somehow I'm not buying it - wouldn't be surprised to see them do a surprise release.

www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi ACHTUNG, BABIES: A few months ago, after it was reported elsewhere that the next U2 album would be delayed until 2015, Interscope topper John Janick assured us the album would arrive this year, and now reports are circulating that it could come out as soon as September. In fact, Universal Music Venezuela and Universal Music Colombia briefly posted tweets saying the album was coming out in September, Rolling Stone notes. French newspaper Nice-Matin reported that the group had recently shot a video in Nice, and the Irish Times quoted a source saying there will be a single in September, an album in September or October and a tour announced in December, with dates beginning in April of next year. "It is believed," says the article, via U2 fan site atu2.com, that "the band will release it with little of the fanfare usually associated with a new U2 album." The band has never spent this much time on an album, nor has it worked with nearly as many producers; they are Danger Mouse, will.i.am, David Guetta, RedOne, Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth, who is said to have helmed the final round of sessions. No #1 album for them though. Curious to see how it plays out in the long run.
Opinion-post with more feeling to come later.
