So after Amy Winehouse exploded a few years back, and Coldplay before her, some artists made dents in the American music industry.
Duffy, Estelle, La Roux, Florence + The Machine...
Who do you expect will be the next big thing to come from overseas?

I'd add Taio Cruz to that list as well. He's had a great year.
I keep hoping that the next big crossover is Alexandra Burke. I thought it would've already happened by now though.

Same, but it seems they're taking their time atm. I think the next big crossover may be The Script. They've started off well (Breakeven). Now "For The First Time" is smashing on HAC and should cross over to pop too. I can see them doing well in 2011 if managed right :) I also think Tinie Tempah could do well at Urban/Rhythmic if he was to try. Possibly crossing over to Pop too.

I don't know but I think UK artist should try and cater to american audience. It seems like what clicks with the US, clicks in other parts of the world. They should take a page off RiRi's career. I don't think we need another Leona or Jay Sean or Amy. We need someone with longevity and not just a one hit/album wonder

Didn't know that The Script were from Britain...
I honestly don't see Taio Cruz really staying prominent in America. I think he's a great producer but as a performer he irks me. 'Break Your Heart' is definitely amazing though. A good chunk of my favorite artists are from Britain but I don't necessarily see them becoming American success stories. Heck, they're not even that popular in Britain.
The obvious answer is Cheryl Cole. It'll eventually happen. 'Fight For This Love' should have been a big hit here.

Jay Sean? Duffy, Estelle, La Roux, Florence + The Machine... They're big? They all seem like one hit wonders to me, two of them (Florence and Duffy) whose only hits peaked in the 20-30 range.

I thought the Script was from Ireland? Anyway I would agree with Cheryl Cole. I think if she gets both of her albums released here. I could see Fight for This Love and Promise This being Huge. I feel that will happen sooner or later.

I'm STILL waiting for Joss Stone to really cross over and actually have her big moment, but in terms of someone totally unknown here, I'd got with Pixie Lott. Her album is awesome.

Sad that Joss Stone is somewhat known here in the states. She has so much potential. She has looks, voice, personality but she needs good material!

so I'm the only one who really doesn't see Cheryl Cole doing anything? :-\ I mean she's okay as an artist but nothing game changing. I don't see a reason why America would really embrace her.

The Chav/uk's national "sweetheart" Cheryl Cole won't be majorly successful here in the US (even if she just inked that insane record deal), people would need subtitles to understand what the phuck she says half the time anyways. I think that was part of the reason she was sacked from the US Xfactor anyways, no one would understand her. I do live views of the UK xfactor all the time and never understand her half the time. Anyways, I do like a few of her songs (Make Me Cry, Yeah Yeah, and Let's Get Down) and Girls Aloud... but yeah meh she needs to stay overseas.

Glad to see someone who agrees with me, but I actually think that's it's the "personality" department that she's lacking in. If you listen to her third album "Introducing Joss Stone" you'll see she MORE than had the right material. The songs were all on point. I just keep on reading that she's a nightmare to work with and people generally don't seem to "get" her, which leads me to think it's a personality issue, and not an issue with talent or songs. (the less said about her last album "Color Me Free" the better. It should have been shelved, but maybe it was a way to get her out of her current contract? We shall see).

Cheryl Cole could easily make it in the US. She has one of the most powerful men in the music industry on her side, not to mention a successful, widely known producer. Although they're not amazing, she also has two albums worth of US radio-ready material. Rihanna also seems very keen on her, Fergie's mentioned her in interviews. Apart from being very likeable, Cheryl has so many ways in, I don't see how she couldn't have at least some success.

No mention of Alexandra Burke yet? She has some seriously hot material. It might have a Euro sound to it but so does Cheryl's, and the US has become more open to that sound. I with they would both crossover!

I think Alexandra would do awesome over here in the states. I think I'd love to see a Duet between her Cheryl and Rihanna and Fergie

But I generally just include Ireland, because they've come up with some great artists too (U2, Enya ect..) I don't know but I think UK artist should try and cater to american audience. It seems like what clicks with the US, clicks in other parts of the world. They should take a page off RiRi's career. I don't think we need another Leona or Jay Sean or Amy. We need someone with longevity and not just a one hit/album wonder #1, #11 and #31 singles. A #1 album and a #13 album. I wouldn't call that a one hit wonder. Just someone who has suffered from ignorant management and the 3rd album should hopefully secure her career in the states. P.S: Sorry, but I haven't Stanned for Leona in a while :'(

It looks like "Boys & Girls" has flopped. I also think Tinie Tempah could do well at Urban/Rhythmic if he was to try. Possibly crossing over to Pop too. I think both "Pass Out" and "Written In The Stars" have a lot of potential but UK rappers never do well in the US.

Cheryl cole EASILY, they just need to select the right singles. And she just landed a job on the US X Factor, so that's definitely gonna generate some blitz for her.
