Elvis Duran (as much as I despise him for his nastiness towards Mariah) has said that X-tina's new single, produced by Dr. Luke, is going to be one to watch in 2012!! Great news and great endorsement!

Just a little exclusive news. She'll be at the Globes tomorrow. She just left the Beverly Hilton Hotel and was rehearsing...for something. :)

I"m usually in the minority with this opinion but, I happened to like most of the uptempos from Bionic. I still listen to Not Myself Tonight, Whoohoo, Desnudate, Bionic and sometimes Bobblehead to this day.

I'm really curious as to what she'll be doing at the Globes. If she was just presenting an award, would she really need to rehearse? How do these things work?

All presenters and hosts (and performers for the Oscars) do a rehearsal, so if she's presenting--best song, probably--she would do a run-through.

I"m usually in the minority with this opinion but, I happened to like most of the uptempos from Bionic.I still listen to Not Myself Tonight, Whoohoo, Desnudate, Bionic and sometimes Bobblehead to this day. Same. I honestly don't know why the album performed so poorly, because many of the songs sound very current, as if they could've done very well for artists like Gaga, Britney or Nicki Manji. I do wonder if the fact that Xtina releases albums every 4 years hurts her when it comes to getting radio support. I loved "Not Myself Tonight, Whoohoo," "Glam," "Primma Donna" and "Vanity." I also think the ballads were among some of the best songs Christina has ever done, and it's a real shame they didn't get any attention. :(. "Little Dreamer" is just gorgeous, and probably one of my favorite tracks ever from her. "Lift Me Up," "You Lost Me," "I Am" and "All I Need" are among the best songs she's ever recorded, both lyrically, sonically and vocally. I really hope her team actually promotes the new record, because the "Bionic" era was an absolute mess. I hope she can get in shape, go back out on tour, and score a few hits, with an album that showcases the best she has to offer- more "Stripped" material than "Bionic." I think she can pick herself back up if she can get a moderate hit, put out a decent album, and go on tour to prove she's still got what it takes. Crossing my fingers they handle this era correctly; the last thing she needs is another "Bionic."

I have been re-listening to the album while doing housework sometimes (it's a nice album to do work to as you anticipate your next favorite song). I can understand that certain songs weren't the greatest, but they just fit in where they are. I bought the deluxe edition and I love all of the additional tracks. I really like the ballads, as well as most of the uptempos. "Desnudate", "Vanity", "Birds Of Prey", and "Bobblehead" are my favorites of those. "Vanity" is so over-the-top, but it's so much fun and it makes me feel sexy and confident. It's a great song to get ready to before you go out for the night.

^ 'Vanity' is amazing. Not only is it my favorite track on Bionic, it's one of my favorite Christina songs in general.

I think some of the Bionic songs were hated more than they deserved just because she was in the middle of a huge massive backlash. I mean, people were basically waiting for her to release stuff just so they could line up and scream about how horrible it was and by stuff I don't even mean music-every image, every snapshot, every quote, every random candid was met with mindless hating no matter what. Even before any music was released a lot of people had declared it to be an awful cd. I am not seeing the same level of hatred being spewed non-stop right now which leaves me with higher hopes for the next cd. Like, I don't see it being killed before we even have a chance to hear the first single or anything.

I am not seeing the same level of hatred being spewed non-stop right now which leaves me with higher hopes for the next cd. Like, I don't see it being killed before we even have a chance to hear the first single or anything. This. I can see why Xtina generates such a love/hate response among the public, but I feel like most people wanted to jump on the Xtina hate bandwagon once the comparisons to Gaga started, and then the Superbowl performance and her it just went down from there. It seems a fair amount of people do love Christina for who she is, but I feel like it was the "cool thing to do" if you hated on her in 2010. Luckily the air has been cleared, and people are beyond most of the drama that surrounded Christina last year. I just think it was so ridiculous that so many people hated on her and bashed her for things that really weren't that big of a deal. Would people have been hating with such intensity of Gaga had messed up the anthem, gained a little weight and gone through a divorce? Don't think so. People act like Christina has always been a flop, but she was very successful with "Back To Basics" and "Burlesque," so people need to stop with the excuses. I have always loved Christina's bitchy personality, simply because it works.I'm convinced no one could pull off that persona as well as Christina. She OWNS "Vanity." People know she's confident and she loves it. Hopefully her team has learned from this mess, because I know she could be back on top with the right material. I found this on a message board earlier and I thought it was interesting; people want to blame Christina for the failure of "Bionic" but I still think a lot of it had to do with horrible marketing. F ollowing up on my thread from last weekend, last night I attended Ladytron's concert & had backstage passes to meet them, they were lovely, open & kind to most of my questions I had regarding Christina, here's what they had to say on different topics of interest :
*Kimono Girl/Fourth Unknown Song - they were obligated by Christina not to talk about these other 2 songs they recorded for the Bionic sessions, all they said were that the songs were too experimental according to her record label & were dumped in favor of more mainstream songs, the band were disappointed they did not make the cut as Christina wanted them too. They were also disappointed BOP & LD were just bonus tracks.
*I praised their work with Christina and they said "they enjoyed working with her, she is a nice person", and I told them how much I loved BOP & LD, & they said "Christina wanted BOP as a single when she recorded it", but sadly it never happened.
*They are not on the new album, they did submit demo's but Christina said they did not suit the album's sound she is going for this time, but did say she might work with them again in the future.
That is all i asked as i only had 5 mins with them for a quick meet & greet, hope u enjoy the info I could get from them.

That's good to know, I too think that her work with Ladytron was great. What's weird to me is that Christina didn't have the balls to stand up for her work. She seems like a strong person, she should have fought RCA. The experimental stuff was great, it was what was recorded at the last moment that isn't so great. She should have just released the album she wanted to make.

It usually isn't as easy as "having balls" depending on your contract or compromises you are willing to make. Most pop stars do not have total control over their cds or careers no matter how many of them pretend like they do. We don't know what happened behind closed doors and they also probably had everyone telling her she would flop horribly if she used the songs anyway. Of course, the funny part is by compromising and recording label approved songs she ended up looking even worse than if she had released the experimental cd she wanted. It may have still flopped or under-performed, but I do think she would have received more positive press for it. Most of the positive comments I have heard about Bionic were about the more experiment tracks that slipped in there and the SIA tracks. NOT the "radio friendly" stuff tacked on. It also makes me happy that BOP was one she wanted as a single. That was one of the best songs from the entire project.

Those are the digital track sales for Fighter and Beautiful. Fighter has sold 851,136 copies and Beautiful 1,001,122 copies.

**sighs** I can only imagine how much she would have sold if digital sales were as huge as they are now when those songs were originally released.

It'd be great to see what the digital song sales would be of the big 2002-2005 releases, but they also probably wouldn't have amassed such huge album sales that are fun stats to have, too.

I don't think it is an exact correlation like that especially since people were already wildly downloading illegally at that point and today we still have artists selling tons of singles and albums. All digital sales did was create a legal way to do it. I don't think Stripped would have sold tons less especially since I think digital sales would have propelled her airplay a bit more. Several of those songs were LOVED, but radio held back a bit on them because they were "different" or not pure pop or whatever. It is hard to hold back a bit on a song if it is selling millions of singles though.
I guess we don't know though either way!
