Kellie Pickler Gets Ready to Show Her Roots Kellie Pickler has been working on her new album -- the follow-up to her self-titled sophomore disc -- and she says she will be heading back to her roots on the forthcoming project. The North Carolina native is writing for the third album, which should include some classic-sounding tunes. "It's very country," Kellie tells MTV News. "I grew up listening to more traditional country music: Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Tammy [Wynette], Dolly [Parton]. So, I'm kind of going back to my roots. I'm excited about that." Kellie is up for a pair of CMT Music Awards, including Female Video of the Year for her hit 'Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You.' And speaking of videos, she's set to shoot the music video for her new single, 'Makin' Me Fall in Love Again,' next week with director Roman White. Kellie will hit Fresno, Calif., on Saturday (April 10) as part of Taylor Swift 's Fearless tour. Her new album is currently slated for a fall release. www.theboot.com/2010/04/09/kellie-pickler-new-album-2010

Hoping Swift writes/co-writes some songs for this album, but with the direction she's taking, it doesn't seem too likely.

So is she done with the sophomore era?

Cannot wait! Love Kellie! Hope it's a solid third album. Shes been able to do really well for herself after Idol and I hope this album keeps that streak coming. :)
I would love for Taylor to write some more music with Kellie since Best Days was the best from the album(for me).

Cant wait! But I'm not sure how they are going to get a 4th quarter release since MMFILA will take months to climb...

This will definitely be pushed back to January or February. It took DYKHMILY like 6 months to climb the charts.

The album is being produced by Frank Liddell who has produced Miranda Lambert's albums.
After seeing her perform live at Taylor Swift's concert last night I've now become a fan.

Is that considered her biggest hit? I love that song. Yep it's her biggest Hot 100 and Country hit. I really hope she gets significant success this time around, she has a solid following but she should be a lot more successful. Although her albums chart for ages, the last album sold over 425k copies but never sold that much in a single week.

this will sell about 200k ish prbly when its finished (okay maybe like 275ish tops) which isnt a bad decline from album to album she seems to have a not big but solid following. i dont see any songs doing as well as Best Days i see her getting two more country top 20's

I love the second album. "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" and "Somebody To Love Me" are beautiful ballads. I hope she continues this path.

I think this is going to wind up being a fantastic album. I'm really excited to hear that Kellie Pickler's making this record a more traditional country one and that she is having Miranda's producers handle it.
Her debut album is easily my favorite debut album by any country artist; its absolutely solid in every way. Her sophomore album, although still featuring several good songs, was a step backwards from the debut for me. So I'm thrilled w/ the direction she's hoping to head w/ this release.

Her album sales have been faring pretty damn well for a female country artist who isn't flying up the charts STG - ~800K KP - ~420K

Kellie's third album is looking at a mid-late spring release.
Rumored tracks already recorded are "Dear You" and "Rockaway", as well as a track Kellie wrote called "I Tried".
Kellie will also continue touring with Rascal Flatts on their second leg of the "Nothing Like This" tour.

Kellie is amazing, my favorite Country artist I am beyond excited to this album. Hoping she has an amazing era, with lots of success, she deserves it. Somebody To Love Me is her GOAT ballad and still gives me chills.

I heard she's going a more old-school-country route for this album? Can someone confirm?

After her second album, I'm really excited for this! I hope she has another "One Last Time" on this album; by far my favorite song of hers.
