I said over 10 years ago it was stupid for them to release her GH with remixes. Nobody wants those remixes that they don't even know! Everyone wants the originals! It made no sense. When the GH came out, Whitney was experiencing a massive renaissance in the clubs, and most of the remixes, (at the time) were huge, so I think they saw it as a win-win, because they weren't cannibalizing Whitney's catalog (giving consumers reason to go back and own the earlier CDs), but you're right, looking back, the project looks totally dated and oops-worthy. Hey, one thing we can all agree on, the artwork for the GH is top notch!

Hey, one thing we can all agree on, the artwork for the GH is top notch! It was posted at DJRicoMixshow that Whitney's label had been wanting to do a GH album for years, as far back as maybe 1998 and there were all sorts of problems and drama and that it "finally" came out in 2000. They had gone through a lot of back and forths on how many remixes to include/not include.

When Whitney's "Greatest Hits" was released there was a ton of negative feedback saying that the remixes weren't the vesions that the public wanted to buy, and that may explain why it definitely underperformed sales-wise. Several more collections have been issued since then in different territories, "Love, Whitney," "Artist Collection," "The Ultimate Collection," and the 2-disc "The Essential Whitney Houston"(really an exact reissue of the Greatest Hits but without the fabulous artwork) in 2011. But as others have noted, the label could easily release a new one that represents tracks from all of her albums, which hasn't happened yet. I was a little surprised she hadn't gotten any of those "20th Century Masters" "ICON" or "Super Hits" compilation like so many of her former ARISTA Records labelmates (TLC, Toni Braxton, Monica) fell victim to.

I was a little surprised she hadn't gotten any of those "20th Century Masters" "ICON" or "Super Hits" compilation like so many of her former ARISTA Records labelmates (TLC, Toni Braxton, Monica) fell victim to. Arista released this collection of love songs in 2001. "Miracle" is so out of place given its subject matter. www.discogs.com/Whitney-Houston-Love-Whitney/release/1160347And this Ultimate CD in 2007 in Europe/Asia: www.discogs.com/Whitney-Houston-The-Ultmate-Collection/release/1621174The 2 disc GH album has also been released as The Essential Whitney Houston in the U.S. and other places but it's the same exact tracklisting. www.amazon.com/Essential-Whitney-Houston/dp/B004FPXJOKUsually, those The Essential type hits collections were done right often containing a lot of the special single versions/single mixes and rare remixes versus just the original album versions. The Michael Jackson and Gloria Estefan ones they did were really good.

I just watched Yolanda Adams's "I Love The Lord" in NAACP Image Awards. The tribute is simply, but so touching. Yolanda's performance is breathtaking. I hope that someone can upload the video with better qualify. For now, you may see it in the link below, www.youtube.com/watch?v=pupxGeK30Fo

Was switching back and forth between the NAACP Image Awards and the 20/20 Tribute to Whitney! I really thought the Image Awards did good with their performances!. As for the 20/20 it is really strange to see what a difference 10 years can really make. When they showed the 92/93 interview with Barbra Walters, Whitney seemed very well rounded and then when they show the infamous 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer; it's really bittersweet to remember how great she was and also to see her struggles in her later life.

Watching everything on CNN. I love when Whitney would say "You know what I'm saying." She was such a beautiful person. :'(

This is what Whitney would want to glorify God with leaving the earth.

Yeah, this funeral is very tough to watch but very respectful and I am enjoying the words people are speaking. The more I read and see about this tragedy, the less believable it becomes. Unreal.

When I see news articles about her death, I still think to myself "wow this is really real".

It hasn't really 'hit' me until now, watching the funeral, and seeing the casket and knowing Whitney is in it. Heart is heavy knowing that one of the voices that lead me to music and ultimately where I am in life now, is gone. She'll be missed.

It still seems unreal. Especially when you watch recent news clips of her and she seems HEALTHY and very well spoken. This isn't the Whitney of 2002. You can see she recovered so much since then... I don't understand it. :(

The most painful part was when Clive said she was so determined to be back to her prime...

The shot of the soldiers carrying her casket out of the building... that's when it finally hit me... it's real. And I never would have wanted this to happen for another 40-50 years.
"I Will Always Love You" - just perfect.

I had an emotional breakdown at the end, words cannot express how my whole being just aches with sadness.
The service was beautiful and I know Whitney was there loving it.
I will never let you go Whitney, I will always keep your name alive as long as I'm here! I will continue to discuss her here, post her videos, performances, anything related to new unreleased music, to Sparkle, I will never stop discussing her on here.
You are forever in my heart Nippy! Forever!!!!

A couple of grown straight men I know told me they cried when Whitney's casket was carried out. It was really a beautiful service and it's amazing to see how Whitney touched people who never even would consider themselves "fans". It goes to show the enormous impact she had on music and that regardless of people's opinion of her music, they respect the impact that it had.

The service was beautiful. It was intimate, warm and just lovely. We gotta thank Whitney's family for allowing the cameras in and letting the fans and the public witness it.
