Haters are SOOOO pressed. @ uglynumber2, did you know they are honoring her for her entire career, including her days with Destiny's Child which by the way is the bestselling girl group ever? So, what's her number of Top 10s in that 10 year span if you add DC hits?? Oh, I see. Billboard knows better. STAY MAD while she racks up more awards than your fave could ever dream about. @ MickeCheck12: Honorary awards are created all the time. It's nothing new nor surprising, and it certainly doesn't diminish its value. I'm sure you wouldn't be saying any of that if your fave was the recipient. Oh, and by the way, the World Music Millennium Award was also created for MJ and MC. So what? You can also STAY MAD. Of course, MJ and MC were given the Millenium Award because they were the biggest selling artists of that millenium. It's laughable that you have the nerve to compare her to them. She hasn't even sold 10% of what they sold. GTFOH with that crap.

Excuse me but who else deserves to be honored with the Millenium award? It is unfair to compare Beyonce to Mariah...they come from different eras. Beyonce has CONSISTENTLY remained relevant throughout the decade. I'd like to see the haters name someone more deserving of this honor. Easy... Boo, Eminem hands down...then Britney...possibly Usher. Eminem was the best selling ARTIST of the decade and has been more consistent than Beyonce. Britney...has achieved/broken a billboard record with every single album era. Which hasn't been done by any other artist. Eminem would too if his first album didn't debut at #2 smh. I honestly would have loved for Britney to get it but still would have thought Em deserved it first. Congrat to B, though. She won't get it again so it is good promo for her and she did accomplish alot. Plus, Em and Britney will have more chances in the future to add to their amazing accomplishments for when they get it. They will get more #1 album, #1 singles, add to their close to 100M record sales and will add more accolades for when they receive theirs. So it is a win-win. I just had to comment because even Usher might deserve the award before B but there are at least 2 that should have gotten it. Sorry but Eminem disappeared for a good part of the decade, so did Britney and Usher. Beyonce remained relevant throughout. -Destiny's Child and Dangerously in Love during the first part of the decade -B'Day, Dreamgirls, etc during the middle part of the decade -Sasha Fierce during the latter part of the decade

She hasn't even sold 10% of what they sold. GTFOH with that crap. No one can sell 10% of what they sold in today's climate. Yet she landed twice on Billboard's decade-end chart, and she is the #1 artist of the decade when you add DC's points to her solo points. Hence why she is receiving the award. You can make as many excuses as you may wish, and run in circles all suffocated and bothered and looking like a ftool, but that won't prevent Billboard from handing her the award. They know better than you, honey. Now, keep running in circles along with the other bunch of haters. It's such an entertainment. Oh, and...

The World Music Awards is nothing more than PR hubub- even less of an "awards" show than something like the Grammys.
So, is Ms. Spears actually appearing at this event- and if she does, will there be live vocals?

I'm assuming TTWE will be mimed as that is how she performed it during the initial album promo and probably how she's been rehearsing it for the tour these past weeks. Not that I am expecting "S&M" ('Rihmix') to be live on Britney's part but I'm thinking out of the two that one has more possibility of being live (or at least partially). And in that rumored rehearsal pic she's holding an actual mic (which she didn't have in any of the FF promo) so there may be some live vocals

I see your point...was thinking about in the future...moreso later in the future which is why I had her last on the list. Yeah...I put her at the bottom because I'm not sure whether she can keep it going and stand the test of time but I figured that if she did she should get one. Thinking once again I should discount that because then I would need to add Rihanna, Katy, and others too. I will edit this out.

Em, Brit and Usher have achieved multiple Billboard awards/records/accolades that Bey hasn't. They shouldn't be discounted because they decided to take a break from media saturation and overexposure and Beyonce did not.

The TTWE performance is going to be more like the way it will be on tour. The creative director for Britney's performance is assistant to Jamie King who is the tour's creative director.

She has always been competitive-in the best sense of the word. Also, I think her rehearsals for the tour have not only made her more tone but her confidence might be boosted. Would love too see her do a good job and nothing like what was done for that MTV performance or GMA's bit.

Eminem deserves it before Beyonce. But Eminem is not even going to be at the awards tonight. I doubt they would award it to somebody not in attendance.

Beyonce got female artist of the decade awarded by Billboard, so that leaves Britney out. SO really it was between Bey, Nelly(lol), EMinem, or Usher. All 3(not inlcuding Nelly)deserve a award, but like people say Beyonce has gone non-stop all decade, she deserves it :)

Sorry but MJ, MC, Janet, Madonna weren't given the Millennium award. Beyonce is the first.
and I don't see how a Decade award = Millennium award though tbqh. You'd think someone like Madonna would get it

It is harder to be consistent, there are A LOT of people who have had glorious highlights in their careers, but very few of them could keep it consistent.

Other Millennium Awards were from the silly PR-driven World Music Awards.
If Beyonce did not have an album out very soon, I suspect this Millennium Award would not be happening. It's great promo.

Best female performer of this generation getting the award seems nothing but appropriate. Whether other people also deserve the award is not relevant since this is the first year they do it.

It's not that Beyonce doesn't deserve the recognition- she does. It's similar to Janet Jackson getting the inaugural MTV Icon award- she had an album out around that time. She was deserving of the recognition, but it was apparent that MTV regarded acts like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, etc. as "existing" MTV Icons (as evidenced in the opening credits for that first Icon show). That show was great promo for Janet and the All For You album.
