I forgot to post this - this is going for re-adds June 7, according to an e-mail Glassnote Records sent me the other day.

I forgot to post this - this is going for re-adds June 7, according to an e-mail Glassnote Records sent me the other day. Not a bad idea to give it a new adds date now that "The Cave" is on the decline. I've been hearing this frequently on the local AAA; it doesn't work badly as a radio song.

I think this is going to have a hard time cracking Top 20, let alone Top 10.

Not that I'd mind. The band have been recording songs for a new album and those two songs took way too long to get where they were as well.
I do like the song just fine, though.
+: They seem "indie" enough that it probably wouldn't matter if everything they do is a smash.

I wish I could describe the love that I've developed for this band. Love everything they've released.
Btw, not to advertise my own stuff, but I decided to cover Little Lion Man if anyone cares.

^Nice vid.
I know some people have really rallied around the Avett Brothers, Mumford, and Edward Sharpe. They go on and on about how much today's music sucks and they love this Americana revival. Of course, when I play some Bob Dylan, Springsteen or CSNY, they can't take it.
As much as I love this band, I don't see their fame lasting long. It's a good thing they're already working on a follow-up.

Wonder what's causing it to blow up all of a sudden.

Maybe radio stations are looking for something new from M&S after having gotten enough mileage out of "The Cave". Or maybe radio programmers think there's a lack of compelling new music (not that I necessarily agree), so they are going with something from a familiar band even if it isn't as radio-friendly as their previous offerings. Alternative radio might also be more receptive to songs like this since they've never been so "indie" leaning - indeed, since M&S pushed A7X out, everything in the top 20 is either an indie-style band, or a well-established Alternative act that doesn't lean too strongly towards Active territory.
In any case, I'm not too shocked this has gone top 20. If this hits the top 10, then we'll talk. To be fair, though, I'm a bigger supporter of this song than most of the folks here.

Wow. This is Top 10? For some reason, I was under the impression it had flopped already. I need to look at the charts alittle more often. Awesome they've gotten three Top 10s. Did The Cave hit #2? And will they have a 4th single?

"The Cave" did reach #2 on alternative. And I doubt their will be a fourth single since the band plan on releasing new material later this Fall.
But....
If there was a fourth single, "White Blank Page" or "Thistle & Weeds" would be pretty epic.
