Never really looked for her, but I took the time to listen to the album today and I was impressed.
I see you Cheryl.

Cheryl's A Million Lights opens at #2 behind Justin Bieber's Believe and I am completely ready for the exaggerated British tabloid articles claiming that Cheryl is over and is no longer a star.

A Million Lights debuts with 34,000. Quite a disappointment imo. It's a great album.

The title track is stellar. Should've been the second single.

Finally got the album!!! Giving it time to sink in before a review. All I have to say is I don't understand why everybody hates 'Love Killer' so much because it's amazing. I just wish the production were different because with a big pop production the song would have been an absolute gem.
Oh and 'Under The Sun' is the confirmed second single and Cheryl is currently rehearsing for the music video. So assume another dance-heavy routine.

REVIEW: A MILLION LIGHTS - Hefty Hanna/B4L 01. Under The Sun - on first listen I was really underwhelmed. I didn't really get the hype and I didn't understand why it was being chosen as the second single when you have a lot better material on the album to choose from. That being said, while I still think there is better single material, it's definitely catchy and I do see the summery appeal. It's a feel-good record and it's actually really breezy and nice. A02. Call My Name - it's still just as incredible and catchy as it was the week it came out. A+03. Craziest Things - Like "huh", I also tend to love the records Cheryl and will come up with. I don't love this like I love '3 Words' but I definitely love the song. The beat is great and it's so catchy. A04. Girl In The Mirror - It's growing on me. I love the background vocals so much in the chorus, especially when they go up when she says "I don't know what to SAAAYYY!" I could have done without the excessive "dub step" but it's another good one. A-05. A Million Lights - on first listen this one stuck out the most. Cheryl's never really done anything this moody or somber before and it's a really haunting, incredible song. I love the lyrics and I think she sounds great. It might be my favorite. A+06. Screw You - this one had to grow on me. Again, at first I was questioning why this was being hyped up and while I thought it would make an okay single, I didn't think it was the best choice. After a while I kind of understand why. I love the attitude in her voice and I really like Wretch's rap. A07. Love Killer - SO GOOD! I don't know why it got so much hate when it leaked! The production is really disappointing though because with a big, pop heavy production this could have been an incredible gem of a song. It's still great though. It's been stuck in my head all day. A+08. Ghetto Baby - I thought that Cheryl actually wound up doing a great job on this. I like the verses a lot more than the chorus, but it has a great vibe to it and I didn't think that Cheryl would do a convincing job on it but she did IMO. A09. Sexy Den A Mutha - After CMN this is THE song of the album. It would be so stupid to try and not release this in America. CMN + this could be a 1, 2 punch introduction to Cheryl in the States. Make it happen, Universal. Don't be stupid. It's so catchy. A+10. Mechanics of the Heart - meh. I do not get the hype. It's alright I guess. Maybe there is room to grow. For now... C11. All Is Fair - better than the last one but it wasn't the greatest way to end the album because out of all of the tracks this one is clearly one of the weaker ones. It's good, it has a Rihanna vibe to it, but it's just kind of there and you would imagine the album (which is quite good) to end on a very high note and it just falls completely flat. Good but a little bland. B-Overall: On first listen, I was a bit disappointed. Most of the songs were B's at best. But like every other Cheryl Cole album it grew on me. I was so disappointed with 3 Words at first. I only liked the two singles + Parachute and I was questioning why I spent money importing it from the UK when the only good songs were the singles, but then 'Boy Like You' and 'Heaven' grew on me, and then the rest of the album followed. Then MLR was released and I thought the same thing. I only loved 'Promise This', 'Amnesia', 'Let's Get Down', and possibly 'Everyone' (if I remember correctly) and I thought the rest was utter s**t...but then the other songs grew. I listened to this and I loved three or so songs off of the bat and was a bit "I could do without them" with the rest, but most of those other songs have since grew on me in a big way. It's her most solid effort so far and I feel like she's finally figuring out what works for her as a singer. While not a perfect album by any means, there are enough really good songs on it to make it qualify as a really good album. It just would have been nice if there were a few more songs as perfect as 'Fight For This Love', 'Promise This', '3 Words', and 'Call My Name' were. A-...and the Soldier Edition didn't necessarily help it. 12. Boys Lie - this f**king dubstep s**t. It's okay as a predictable middle 8 but at this point it's just getting a bit ridiculous. C13. One Thousand - sounds like a J.Lo song. It's alright. B-14. Telescope - Amazing, haunting song. I wish this could have replaced one of the weaker tracks towards the end of the standard edition. She sounds great and it's just really pretty. A+15. Last One Standing - I am in love with the instrumental to this. I really like the chorus, it's a good one. A16. I Like It - meh. The chorus is a little better than the verses but it's not a vast improvement or anything. C17. Make You Go - I hated this song at first but it grew on me and I wouldn't be surprised if songs that I have initially given fair grades to also do the same. It's still not an incredible song or anything but it's decent. The beat saves it big time. B-18. Dum Dum - "PUT THE BASS IN MY FACE!" is an epic line. Unfortunately that's the only redeeming quality really. Considering she chants it throughout half the song, that's enough to warrant a grade of a... B-19. Teddy Bear - a really nice song. I probably would have switched MOTH and AIF with this and 'Telescope'. AOverall: while the songs aren't the greatest songs ever, I am grateful that we basically got an additional EP to go with the album. I think it complements the album nicely and there are some real winners here. Plus the cover is a million miles better than the actual album cover. There are duds, but on its own it is a quality EP. God, this album is nearly perfect. I love the first nine tracks so much. What are they gonna do with singles?
'A Million Lights' (the song) is fucking terrific. SDAM and 'Screw You' have single potential too.
01. Call My Name 02. Under The Sun 03. Screw You 04. Sexy Den A Mutha 05. A Million Lights
...is how it should go, I think. Maybe alternate SDAM and 'Screw'. 'Craziest Things' could also work. Hm. 'Ghetto Baby' and 'Girl In The Mirror' are fantastic but there are better singles and I love 'Love Killer' but I'm in the minority. 'Mechanics' and 'All Is Fair' need to stay on the album. What an awful way to end a great album.

I still find this album rather middling. "Screw You," "A Million Lights" and "Sexy Den a Mutha" are fantastic (along with "Call My Name" of course) but everything else just kinda drags. And any praise for "Craziest Things" is beyond me to be honest.

I'm shocked at the fact that many ppl don't seem to like "Mechanics of the Heart"...that was the highlight of the album for me.

This album is quite stellar when compared to her last two (which I liked). I am impressed - most tracks are amazing and I hear no filler at all. Definitely pleasantly surprised and pop album 2012 for me so far.

'Call My Name' needs to be a giant hit here so let's do this. She said just a few weeks ago "if it happens, I will fully commit myself to it". I think it's still definitely on the table and I don't see the big deal in letting it sink in throughout Europe before trying to make it happen in America.

As long as she doesn't try to go by a mononym, I'd love her coming to America. "Call My Name" needs to be a hit here too.

I quite enjoy this album. Call My Name, Girl in the Mirror, Sexy Den a Mutha and Ghetto Baby are all great tracks. In the latter song, it's so obvious that Cheryl was trying to sound like Lana. It has her style written all over it.

That's a shame, i'm sure it could be a moderate hit on CHR/POP at least, given how well similar tracks by Calvin Harris have done lately.

I don't hear WFL at all when I hear CMN ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You don't know how frustrating it is when you listen to the radio and you hear "here is the newest UK export...Connor Manyard!! (or whatever). Everybody is coming to America it's ridiculous for Cheryl not to try.
