Hi guys, just found this on another online forum 'Radio One & Capital FM just announced almost simultaneously that they are adding I Wanna Go to their A-List playlists in preparation for the UK release. Radio One & Capital FM are the two biggest Radio stations in the UK. Earlier in the week presenters have been saying the song is a sure-fire UK #1 smash. The problem with Till The World Ends and Hold It Against Me is that they were NEVER added to the playlist. Only minor stations play these songs often.' It was posted back in June and if it is true i dont know what happened really! i always expected it to be a hit in the UK i mean i dont listen to the radio very often but i do watch music channels and it was on all the time.. i dont get why no one downloaded it, its very strange to me.. :/ can someone please give me some knowledge as to why this flopped so much? i mean it didnt even enter the top 100. i can only think of lack of promotion, but HIAM an TTWE didnt have any promotion either I think UK charts only count sales.

In fact, I find them more accurate as to how the public are responding to the music. Radio is just used as a promoter. A station can spin a song as many times as it wants without having any effect on a song's chart position. Radio in the UK is simply used as a promotion tool. You hear the song, you buy it if you like it. Do you notice how competitive the charts are there? Songs are generally released much later after they premiere over there. The label will set an iTunes date so everyone knows when they can get it. Many songs are released on the same day. So the public buys the song on the date it's release, because of how aware they are prior to the release date. That's why the #1 single alternates almost weekly. Songs have far less longevity. There is more competition. Britney simply didn't have enough promotion, or the radio didn't expose her enough.

^ and ^^
Wasn't that his point ???
He asked why she wasn't able to sell enough to get into top 100 since the song was on TV all the time and two biggest radiostation claimed to put it on A-list playlist.

^^ LFN sold WAY MORE than IWG at this point...besides Katy's album has well passed the 1 mil mark and Britney is struggling to even reach 700k with her new album. That means not that many people already have this single at this point to justify the low sales, it should have sold at least 2 million by now since its a #1 pop hit for 3 weeks.

It's no.1 for 10 days not 3 weeks. In case you may not know this, there are also Rythmic, Urban, AC stations and even some other. I wanna go never reached Top 5 on HOT100 airplay while Katy was #1 for +5 weeks.

There was a great deal more planning and promotion on the part of Katy and her label/team. It makes sense that this would go further in both radio and sales. And IWG reached top 10 on itunes for several weeks so its not like people didn't like it. It was simply a case of airplay and sales peaks not aligning. Plus, it's not some super #1 w/ a record-breaking spin count that zoomed passed the competition. It had to inch up and wait patiently for LFN to lose spins while it grew bit-by-bit and remained steady. Nothing about IWG's run reeks of payola.

The big losses have started to occur- now down to No. 3. I imagine it will be a single week atop Billboard's Pop Songs chart (with two weeks atop Mediabase).

IWG debuts at #29 in Hungary this week, giving her her most successful single here this era! HIAM debuted at #33 and fell off the following week, and TTWE didnt even chart.

Up to from #29 to #13 in it's second week. :o Her Singles (2003+)#2 - "Womanizer" #7 - "Toxic" #7 - "Everytime" #12 - "3" #13 - "I Wanna Go"#33 - "Hold It Against Me" #34 - "My Prerogative" #35 - "Me Against The Music" #38 - "If U Seek Amy" It might end up being her second biggest hit after Womanizer! Such a smash. :'( Then again, Hungary isn't a relevant country at all, but IDC! :'(

This song is definitely turning into a hit in Europe too... finally! Despite falling on the US charts for some weeks now, it holds steady on the worldwide chart at #11 or #12. Should end up with a platinum worldwide certification before it exits the chart.
