This seems too much like a long-lost collection of CHR B-sides that they decided to scrap from their heavier albums. One or two lounge songs would be great, but nobody wanted to hear an entire album full of them.

I can't find any meaning in some of them... I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm actually hoping this doesn't go to Alternative. I'd rather see "Thieves" get pushed.

Agreed on Thieves. It's about the only song with any semblance of a backbone on this disc.

I don't see "Promises, Promises" going far at Alternative; it's very soft, not the least bit edgy, and lacks a strong hook. The lyrics don't resonate with me either. Plus, since "Adolescents" underperformed a bit compared to previous lead singles, they might not get as much of a free pass. I'd expect this to peter out around #15 at best.
For the record, I don't have a problem with the idea of Incubus making a "soft" album. They've certainly had great softer songs in the past. I just don't think most of the songs on here have much going for them. I find the album to be lacking in strong melodies, resonant lyrics, and interesting musical flourishes.
There's a few songs I'll give them credit for. "In The Company of Wolves" and "Tomorrow's Food" work well as complex, trippy, atmospheric tracks. "Defiance" is a nice little acoustic number with a good melody. And the opening/title track set my initial hopes high for this album - it's epic and beautiful. But the other "softer" songs just bore me, and I find the one attempt at an edgier track ("Thieves") to be forced and awkward.

Song is getting some radio play here in Australia which for them is very encouraging
album debuted @ 10 and slipped to 20 in it's 2nd week here which is pretty good for a band like them where most fans would purchase it the 1st week and then it would completely drop off the next...

I bought the album the other week, and I've listened through it a couple of times, and I still don't get why this was released as the second single. "If Not Now, When?", "Thieves", and "In Company of Wolves" all stand out a lot more than this. Also "Switchblade" is stupid.

I didn't get into "Adolescents" but I really like this. I'm actually surprised it isn't rising the charts faster than it is.

Third single anyone?
I'd go for "Thieves" or "Isadore".

I think Thieves is a stand up choice.

Pen, Y U No post weekly Top 10 no more? I got bored with it. Sorry. My chart wasn't changing enough to really justify doing it week after week and there didn't really seem to be anything in it for me.

I hope it's "Thieves". Then I could root for Incubus on the charts again. "Promises, Promises" was weird for me because it's only the 2nd time I couldn't stand a single of theirs. I was also pretty anti-"Talk Shows On Mute", but this was definitely my least favorite to date. "Thieves" would at least temporarily erase the bitter taste of this, and it's probably the only song on the record that could.

Initially, I wasn't hot on this since it was yet another Incubus ballad and seemed to be weak. The melodies sunk in and it grew on me, though.

I've always thought that it's one of the best songs on the album, however I don't like it as a single choice one bit.

I caught on to this instantly, whereas "Adolescents" took some time. I think I like "Adolescents" more now though.
