I hope this is better than Adolescentszzzzzz. Since they've started charting on Alternative, I believe they've had a #1 single from every album except Morning View. I'm wondering if the upcoming album will suffer the same fate.

I don't like this at all, and I don't see Alternative jumping on to it. They should just send this right to AAA or Hot AC if they want to have any success with this.

Hot Naked Eyes remake I'm not a fan, but if what Mike said to Spin about the album is true, then at least they aren't advertising themselves in a misleading way. Then again, I felt that Morning View was a dropoff from Make Yourself, though many of their fans love that one. To me it signaled who they'd become.

I think it's better than "Adolescents" just as memorability. I'm just not sure how Alternative is going to respond to this drastic change in sound from their previous material over the years. I really do see this doing great on Triple A. It seems to be the perfect fit IMO.

Yeah, debuted this morning. More yawns. What happened to these guys? You suck, that's what happened.

I've only really heard probably 5 songs from these guys. I dug "Adolescents", but I'm reluctant to download this because I heard it's terrible. Based on that do you think I should get the album? Or maybe even just a couple tracks? Worth my time?

What a shame. I dug Light Grenades so much.

Or maybe even just a couple tracks? Worth my time? It's not terrible at all. It's just different from what they've done in the past. I'd recommend to check out some random songs from all of their albums to see the transformation to the present. I could see how some hardcore fans of their earlier stuff may hate this, but after listening to Incubus for thirteen years now, I think I've gained a lot of respect for them with the direction that they're going in with this new album.

^Yeah but Incubus is a staple of the last 15 years. Make Yourself and Morning View were back-to-back classic albums, I'd say.
Not knowing your taste THAT well, I'd peg you as a Morning View kinda guy.

Based on what I've heard, I think Make Yourself is a tad better, but Morning View is good too.
Especially "Aqueous Transmission".

I like "Make Yourself" a little better, but yes I agree with the statement above. "Morning View" is a solid album.

I'm a ever so slightly 'Make Yourself' guy too. But as someone who likes the newer LP albums more than the first two, I think Ron might prefer the less metal side of Incubus. He should honestly hear both and decide for himself.

I like Morning View more than Make Yourself but they are both equally ridiculously good albums. Crow is also up there for me, actually.

He should honestly hear both and decide for himself. It's tough to say I like the newer ones more. (I know I've come across that way in some of the things I've said, but honestly that's me just defending the band because I DON'T believe that their newer stuff is "shit") The first two LP albums kinda reflect my childhood, and will always hold a place there for me. Except that I've listened the crap out of them, so it's even hard for me to listen to them now, especially since alot of them sound the same. That's why I'm at least intrigued more by the new stuff, and probably listen to it more often at this point in time. The good news is, I have a job this summer where I work entirely outside, with my headphones on. So I will have plenty of time to listen to Incubus's entire discography and decide for myself. I already know I enjoy them (In fact I can play Drive on guitar just because it's one of my favorites and I had to learn it ), but I do need new music to listen to now, so I'll give you guys the verdict tomorrow.

^Cool man. Considering early LP was your childhood, I would have thought Incubus' albums would have been more on your radar at that time given they were huge at the same time. I was listening to Morning View today in the car....a fantastically diverse album.

Morning View for the win, but I've heard only bits and pieces of S.C.I.E.N.C.E. (which sounds like a fine album itself).
Hopefully this Hot Thompson Twins remake is less disappointing than "Adolescents" was.

First few albums I got were the Black Eyed Peas and Maroon 5. Yeah, I know. Start hatin'. Anyway, I'm excited to listen to these today.

It's okay dude. My first album was Eric Clapton (which is fine), but then #2 was Backstreet Boys' debut album. I don't think I'd have the right to be hatin'. :)
Granted, then I picked it up with Fastball next, and I'm still proud of that pick. That was the first album I ever loved.

Listened to both S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Morning View today. Total perspective of the band has changed. I never took them as really heavy until now. Seeing as I've only really heard a few of the singles, It's almost as if they are a complete misrepresentation of the band as a whole.
I'd say if I were to use one word to describe SCIENCE I'd use "funky". There seems to be almost some Jazz influence in that record, mixed in with some numetal. Kinda interesting to me.
Morning View I only got to about track 9 or so, but It was definitely a step towards more mainstream music, in my opinion. They softened (only a little bit) on some tracks, while showcasing more of the lyrics than in SCIENCE, from what I heard.
Overall I enjoyed both of them, and am excited to listen to Make Yourself and the other 2 tomorrow.

Well done, lad. Be sure to report back to us on your findings. :)
I have comments to make, but I don't want to bias your listening (thus I just deleted a paragraph I had fully typed).

If we're going to be talking about being embarrassed about the albums we bought in the past, I might as well spill mine from when I first got into "current music." I was one of those whom listened to everything that I heard on MTV no matter what kind of music it was.
Let's flash back to 1994!
These were my first five albums that I bought: Snoop Doggy Dogg - "Doggystyle" The Offspring - "Smash" Green Day - "Dookie" Salt N' Pepa - "Very Unnecessary" Boys II Men - "II"
Around a year later, I really just got turned off by almost everything that wasn't rock.
