Follow-up to Top 20 hit "Rolling In the Deep". Already reached #2 and still climbing on Triple A chart.

Nice. Hopefully it'll get to the Top 40 at least.

weird to see this as the second single single on Triple A and Alternative when "Someone Like You" is poised to smash on Triple A, Hot AC, AC, and Pop.

Wow, I had no idea this was getting airplay at Alt. Was it officially released? I'm surprised they put out a single at the same time as SLY.

weird to see this as the second single single on Triple A and Alternative when "Someone Like You" is poised to smash on Triple A, Hot AC, AC, and Pop. It was unofficially chosen as the second Triple A single months ago. It since reached #1 on that format. It's success is just rubbing off on alternative. Wow, I had no idea this was getting airplay at Alt. Was it officially released? I'm surprised they put out a single at the same time as SLY. I wouldn't be. "Someone Like You" wouldn't be a good choice for alternative.

Mediabase has actually been moving a bunch of Modern ACs to the Alternative panel BTW - I'm guessing The Script and One Republic are probably close to Top 50 on Alt. also

I feel like "Set Fire To The Rain" would have been a better choice for alternative than this.

^ Really? "Rumor Has It" reached #1 on Triple A and has that grit to it unlike "Set Fire." I wold also hazard to guess the label would rather send "Someone Like You" if they were to release another single to alternative rather than "Set Fire," since "Someone" is already Top 5 on Triple A.

I don't feel like "Set Fire" has any less grit than "Rolling In The Deep". And I think they would have sent "Someone Like You" to alternative already if they were ever going to. It's not usually a good strategy to send a song to pop before alt/rock because once a song has pop success, it becomes taboo for alt/rock to play. Maybe "Set Fire" will be 3rd for all formats. :)

"Set Fire" can be third at all formats as suggested above.

Nope. It still could, as its negative bullet on Mediabase Alternative is not too big to overcome, but my guess is that it has peaked.

Well, then her label stood up for her and had it brought back, because it was recurrent on Sunday night.
Purging songs is so f**king stupid anyway. I mean, the week Korn's "Get Up" was purged, the Naked and Famous' "Young Blood" went recurrent. But since the moves didn't get applied simultaneously, "Get Up" got purged before the removal of "Young Blood" would've kept it on board at #40. It cut its spin loss in half the following week, at a would-be #43. Then it added 13 spins to hypothetically re-enter the Top 40. And despite losing 11, 12, and 7 spins in the these last three weeks, the song would've gone 39-40-39 and be enjoying an 18th week on the chart. I can't believe Mediabase has been arbitrarily purging songs below the Top 40 for 5 years now.

I don't like purging either since, from what I know and I could be wrong, they aren't really based on anything as far as hard numbers are concerned. At least when songs go recurrent, it's because something specific has happened with the positioning of said song such as being below #15 after x amount of weeks or whatever the rule happens to be. I've yet to read anything solid about how songs are chosen to be purged.

did this ever chart on billboard alternative? It finally did get its Billboard alternative debut this week, albeit at #40.
