That snippet doesn't sound too pop friendly - sounds more like something that would rocket up the Alternative chart
That's based on about 15 seconds though lol (and I can barely make out what she's saying)

The snippet doesn't sound like that of a pop hit but it was only like 5 seconds so it could be very pop friendly. I don't see the band having very big success this era, personally. I've heard Amy saying that 'no, this isn't another techno album, it's a pure Evanescence album and it rocks hard.' What I got from that quote is that it's still their old rock sound, which worked seven or eight years ago, and I like it, but it's not what succeeds anymore. And unfortunately for rock bands like Evanescence, if they don't latch on to current trends, such as incorporating electro elements, or abandoning the rock elements and going for midtempo ballads (like a slightly more upbeat 'My Immortal'), they're not going to have much success. CHR is past full-on rock music. They could surprise me with a big pop-friendly radio hit, but what I see for this era is one moderate hit peaking somewhere between #7 and #15, one or two minor hits peaking somewhere between #15 and #25, and as many flops as the label wants to go with. Unfortunately for them, I think they're just stuck in the past if they continue their prior sound.

I think they'll only bother to release one single to pop, the lead single, which may scrap the Top 20. All other singles will either be released to active/alternative rock or be international/video-only weird/random singles.

I don't think Amy's main goal is commercial success. I don't think it ever has been. ToD proved that. Her disagreement with Ben was because he wanted to be more commercial and she wanted to preserve her own artistic integrity. So whatever happens won't bother me!

I can't wait to hear the full song. That snippet sounded great. But is that the final version? It sounded kinda raw.

The snippet is kind of underwhelming.
They need hits like those that made them break through.

That snippet doesn't sound too pop friendly - sounds more like something that would rocket up the Alternative chart That's based on about 15 seconds though lol (and I can barely make out what she's saying) It sounds too minor-key for Mainstream Top 40 and too stream-lined for Active Rock, at least based on the quality of the clip (which is admittedly abysmal) It'll be nearly impossible to predict how their lead release will perform, at any rate. They've been away for a long time, their line-up has altered heavily, and Lee has said repeatedly in interviews that she lightens up on much of the new material and that they dabbled into electronica before re-structuring their songs in a more rock-oriented framework. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS
