Surprised they haven't released one earlier. Such a great album. My favorite is "Perth"

If he never sent "Calgary" to Alternative radio, only to AAA, why in the world would the label have faith that this uninteresting song would do anything? Seriously, I've played this song anywhere from a dozen to 20 times already and I still can't remember how it goes. I'm with Ron. "Perth" would've made so much more sense, seeing as how it's easily the best song on the album. I don't find the record as memorable as For Emma....

Performance of this on SNL tonight was absolutely beautiful!
And @ Nick, I had never heard it before tonight, but unless the studio recording is vastly different from what they performed live tonight, I have probably never disagreed so strongly with you before as right now, but hey it happens.
That was definitely the most interesting and breathtaking performance I've heard on SNL in awhile, probably ever.

They also did Beth/Rest, right? Well, as in that's the name of that song? I do quite enjoy that one as well. It's different from the rest of the album but definitely a standout track.

Hearing both performed on SNL without having heard either studio version and coming at it from the perspective of a Coldplay-loving metalhead:
"Holocene" - 9/10 "Beth/Rest" - 5/10
To be fair, I had no expectations and "Holocene" blew me away. Then I had huge expectations and "Beth/Rest" didn't deliver, but I think that's probably roughly how I would have felt about the songs no matter what.

"Beth/Rest" isn't like anything else on Bon Iver, Jamie. If you liked "Holocene," you might like the rest. It's a beautiful album.

I still haven't listened to the recording. I have however listened to that live performance a few times. I'll be checking out both Bon Iver albums pretty soon though when I'm in the right mental state to that style of music.
