I wonder, the single Born This Way got huge Grammy exposure and quickly debuted at #1 Hot 100, followed up by the parent album which sold a million in its first week. The next singles made top 10 but didn't really become so popular unlike during TF + TFM era. She's a bit overshadowed by other female artists like Adele and Katy Perry chart-wise and popularity-wise. She's trying to get attention again with her new alter ego. Still, this year she's not as famous as she did in 2009-2010, both in US and worldwide. In 2009-2010, she was like the biggest thing in the planet. So, does her fame already decrease this year?

I agree with everything you said. I do feel like her popularity has decreased a bit, although she is definitely still relevant to the general public and of course us music fans. But she's not as huge as she was in 2009-2010.

It's not even arguable that she's not as big as she was in 2009 and 2010. The people that are using that to suggest that her career is waning are being ridiculous though. How many artists remain the biggest artist out there from album to album to album? Artists are going to come along who are fresher and manage to get more attention than other artists. It doesn't mean the artists who are still successful but are no longer the most popular artist out there have anything to be worried about.

I feel like I have been seeing this exact post every since Telephone too. Sure, she isn't as big as her biggest, but no one is ever the biggest star forever. She is still pounding out 5 million plus sellers worldwide which is as big or bigger than every star except Adele.

Yes it has. People got tired I think. Her popularity has waned but I think some of her recent singles are better than her older ones.

Yup, but she's still a massive phenomenon. There's no denying that at all.

The obvious answer is yes. As has been mentioned before, it was bound to happen. She could pull a Beyonce and have another major era in a few years from now or she could have each subsequent album dwindle from here on out but I still think she's relevant to the music scene and to her peers.

I think her career will be like Elton John's... she'll have hits for years and years and become a hugely succesful touring act and legend.

Of course, but she's still big
I do think every era from now on will see less and less success however.

Yeah, she's still big but not as big. I think she's slowly decreassing to a more "regular" level of fame, not the crazyness of 2009-2010, which is normal. It doesn't help that people already know she will show up in crazy outfits and stuff, so the shock factor is gone.

She's still big this year, but I think because she was TOO BIG in 2009-2010, her fame in 2011 looks like a huge drop compared to 2009-2010.

Of course. She already peaked in 2009-2010 so it's just got downward from there, but obviously she's still extremely popular, successful, etc.

Her breakout was HUGE and to maintain that level is extremely difficult. Being a new artist worked in her favor. Now that she's reached superstar status and there's lots of competition, her popularity might show a decrease.

Adele doesnt even gross close to the amount that gaga does on touring.

Well, other than Black Eyed Peas.

I honestly cannot think of many artists who are selling far better than her in album sales let alone pop stars like the original quote mentioned. Eminem and Taylor sell better than her in America at least and Adele is outselling everyone. I don't really consider any of them pop stars. Other than that she is either beating or equal with everyone else I can think of currently especially when you consider worldwide numbers. Am I missing a bunch of pop stars who have done gangbuster numbers in the past year? At least over 2 million in the US and 6-7 worldwide? All the usual suspects haven't when I check numbers or at least haven't yet.

The music on Born This Way is less than stellar to me.

Although I feel that buzz-wise, Lady GaGa still trumps most mainstream artists.

I guess I should've clarified a bit better, but touring is definitely a part of sales revenue, and no other modern pop star collects the amount of dough that Gaga does.

No I'm not a even a fan of Gaga but she is everywhere this era even more so than last era.I would say her fame is about as balanced with her last era.

Hecklers I think its obvious her popularity/fame has decreased a bit. However, lets be realistic here, its not like she went into flopsville or anything. She is still ahead of most of her peers, or right on their level. Her size of popularity and fame last era is a rarity. So, lets not act like because her fame has gone down to a normal/healthy level (its still even bigger than that actually) that she's somehow fading away.

Even if it has decreased, she still the most popular celeb out there, so... it's all relative.

I wouldn't say her fame "decreased" but rather plateaued. It's not like people suddenly forgot who she is. She's just not the it girl like she was while a fresh act during the TF/TFM eras. Basically, she has settled into her popularity. It happens to each and every superstar.

^That. People arent exactly feeling her the way they were before BTW, which is the complete opposite of me but nehoo, her career isn't over.
The type of popstar she is, she was bound to hit her peak early in her career then plateau. Just like Britney was at her popularity peak when she first started then interest slowly dwindled (though tbh, that took about 10 years). It'll be interesting to see how Gaga's next era does coming off of this.
