this has got to be a record of some sorts. Who else has released studio albums so closely together?

I love Rihanna and her music, but I really hope this is a good reason to kill Cheers.

I love Rihanna and her music, but I really hope this is a good reason to kill Cheers. I think they are assuming Cheers won't really sell many more albums and they want to pound out more #1s which is easier if she has 3-4 radio smashes waiting on a new cd.

^I was starting to get back into Cheers, sadly. It's OK, though, I'll find a way to cope.

Nah, Elton John released 9 studio albums in that time-frame, Cher did 7 studio albums, and there's surely more. A more modern artist, Mariah Carey, released 5 studio albums in the same time as Rihanna did hers. Considering Rihanna's debut was minuscule in impact compared to Mariah's, this upcoming album doesn't appear that much more excessive in my opinion.

Right? For all the people complaining about her rapid release schedule, I wish Gwen/No Doubt/Nelly/Justin would do it instead of making me wait years and years. When you put it like that I definitely agree. I especially miss No Doubt out of those. :( I have a good feeling about this from the title. Not counting "All Of The Lights" or "Love The Way You Lie", I haven't really liked a Rihanna song since "Hard".

It's funny because despite people saying there's overkill, there seems to be anticipation for this as stations are lining up to play the new Rihanna. Perhaps she's at a new career high with this album? I bet this song hits #1 and the album becomes her first #1 as well.

Who was the person that Rihanna responded to in the tweet? The Britney ones are always the best. People were actually threatening to burn down the radio stations. In retrospect I think I was one of them.

I hope she also has some urban materials in this album, not only dance. Russian Roulette is a masterpiece!

I hope its a banger, but I also hope its left field. Not so left field that it bombs, but enough to not be generic and "tired".

But the difference with these artists is that they actually show artistic growth musically, vocally and artistically. With Rihanna it's mainly catchy beats, new look, and a new hair color. Her growth is in her appearance rather than her music.

And Loud was just the album to help her get back on top after Rated R wasn't hugely commercially successful. Also her voice continues to get stronger and she becomes more confident on each record.

And it's not like she makes this album, she has a team of people who do it, she shows up, does some singing, the get her voice fixed and that's it. Fast food music. Anyway, I'm really thrilled to hear this. I hope it has WMN vibe but considering who the producer is I doubt it.

Except she was the executive producer of her last two albums and she co-wrote almost every song on Rated R. Hopefully she has some writing credits on this album.

this has got to be a record of some sorts. Who else has released studio albums so closely together? It's hardly a record. In the 60's and 70's, many acts released an album every year, or even every 6 months.
