Yeah I listened to it this morning and i couldn't put my finger on it but now I know what it reminds me of: mashup of freakum dress, get me bodied, single ladies and some kelis or ciara song that was a fan favorite but never released. That said I prefer this at pop party would have a fast rise fast fall on pop. Can't wait for the video Uhh completely disagree, Countdown sounds more like a mashup of Upgrade U and Up Out my Face. Also Kelis and Ciara are way too different, I get the Ciara reference, but Kelis not so much, half of her stuff is not even R&B. Sorry if this sounds aggressive, I just can't sit tight when people categorize Kelis into the pop/r&b circle lol. No biggie, I do hear up out my face but do,you hear freakum dress...particularly the chorus...I guess It's just me.

Are you talking about "Blindfold Me" by Kelis? That's the only track from her that remotely comes to mind as being similar to the other tracks you've mentioned.

LOVE THIS! The b-section is my SH*T! I have to do my own little choreography everytime I hear that "me and my boo, in my boo coop, ridin'"... Ugh, it's so infectious! Then of course the hook is great! I can see this blowing up on Pop radio...it doesn't sound like anything else out but has such a classic Beyoncé sound. I think this is going to grow into a massive hit as she enters the final months of her pregnancy. The last 3 lines of the countdown in the hook only help it's chances.
And for the record, I can totally see 'Party' going #1 on Urban followed by this going top 10(possibly top 5 on pop). Then EOT can be released and devour the world with it's epicness. Perfect.

Releasing this to pop before any other format is an obvious mistake. She has little to no momentum on pop and I just don't see pop stations jumping the gun to play this without being convinced by rhythmic (and less notably urban) that it's a hit. They should hold off until after Countdown makes way at either urban and rhythmic and then push it for adds, otherwise I don't see it doing any damage.
With that said this is my ish and I hope I'm proven wrong!

So its really not gonna make a difference, of course Rhythmic and Urban are probably going to start playing it more when it get's released, then Pop radio will slowly catch on as usual. Some pop stations are already playing this so, who knows it might rise on all 3 formats simultaneously. I have a feeling this might experience the same type of chart run as Rude Boy, I remember as soon Def Jam released that to radio, all 3 formats jumped on it quickly, and it became a multi-format smash.

Not bad. The production reminded me of 'All of the Lights' a little. I think the lack of a big hook in this won't help it much, I don't think it's gonna go any further than 'Best Thing I Never Had.' I haven't heard 'Love on Top,' 'End of Time' or any of the other choices, but I don't think this is all that good a choice for the third single.

Yeah...this is probably her best chance to have a hit on pop, though. Party is better for urban and End of time will work in the spring time. My fav love on top (as much as I love it) is not geared for pop...hate to admit it. This is really what they have left but I agree with your point of it not having a real hook. It can come across as messy.

This should do better, but yeah, I don't see a big pop hit in this. If this is her best chance, and if she wants some pop success then she should probably consider a re-release (or an EP, or whatever). She can still have a successful era on rhythmic and/or urban, though. This should go top ten on both of those formats.

"Countdown" should be dedicated to Ryan Seacrest and his dull witted AT40 chart.

I love this but think it'll have a hard time reaching the top 20. I think they should've waited till after Party peaked and released it in all formats.

I see she's back to making her ten dollar budget videos from the Sasha Fierce era. I'll reserve judgement though till I see the full thing. Not loving her look though, awful.

It reminds me of the B day era videos...I think it will be interesting initially but then wear off quick. I could be wrong but I am only going off of 30 secs so the remaining 3 minutes could be on another level.

Looks like she's back to the B-Day video anthology budget where she makes a bunch of videos that run the gamut from great to shitty/cheap. They need to focus more on quality of videos rather than let's shoot a bunch of videos and spread the overall budget between them, because the end product of some videos ends up suffering. Excuse the rant, though. I'm going off of a 30 second teaser so I'll reserve judgement until I see more.
