Jesus Christ! While I remembered "Aaron Bruno" sang for Under the Influence of Giants five years ago, I'd completely forgotten/never knew that dude was the lead singer for Home Town Hero four years before that.

I'm loving this song. It's much more immediate than "Sail", although in the long run I think I'll remember AWOLNATION best for "Sail."

I wonder if they will work this one to Top 40 radio. This song seems like it has a lot of crossover potential. Possibly a Top 10 hit at CHR in my opinion. Obviously, they are waiting for this song to do it's thing at ALT first though.

^ I personally think it's a bit heavy for pop if they want another alternative electro-pop hit. Also it's a bit quirky, like the previous single.

I've been impressed with this song rise so far. I thought the slow climb and longevity of "Sail" would hurt this big time but not so much. Never thought of it being sent to pop though. Pop definitely needs more Rock/Alternative in its mix

I HATED "Sail" and ignored ever hearing this because I hated "Sail" so much, but my office had on AltNation today, and I have to say that I like this song.

I hated sail too so when I read your post I decided to give the song and listened too it. It's better then "Sail" without a doubt, but still does very little for me, something about his voice and the style of music really grates my nerves. At least it's more interesting then "Sail" though, how that did as well as it did is beyond me.

"Sail" is WAY more interesting than this. This is catchier (which is probably what you mean) but from a musical standpoint, "Sail" has way more interesting things going on. That's just objectively true.

If this was the first song I've ever heard from Awolnation, I don't think I'd think much of it to be honest. I'm just really not a fan of indie rock at all, although there are a handful of indie bands that I do really enjoy. Unfortunately, for my sake, that's the way Alternative is headed towards. I look at charts from 5-15 years ago and realize how much more I liked music back then. The Alternative station that I grew up on for 16 years flipped to Active Rock about 6 months ago and just yesterday was flipped to a CHR/Top 40 station. I'm not saying indie had anything to do with its ratings slowly lower over the last few years, but people were complaining about the growing amount of indie that they started to play as its popularity grew in the charts. That might be why they switched to Active for the 6 months. Anyway, yeah... yesterday was one of the more depressing days I've had in a long time and I don't even live in the area anymore, but to know another long-timed Alternative was taken off the air for a Pop station really angered me.

I hate though when people reply and say "I like this song" or "This sucks" or if a number-two single is obviously going to overtake the number-one song in a matter of days, a poster says "this will be number-one soon." I don't know, it might be just me.

Never did warm up much to "Sail," therefore it's longevity was a little annoying. When this first hit the chart, I streamed it on All Access a couple times and wasn't impressed. Heard it in the car over a week ago. I think I may have streamed it again a couple days later and it sounded better. Caught it on my Alt station's year-end countdown this morning and it's grown on me even more. Starting to dig this tune quite a bit and wouldn't be surprised if it makes my personal chart in the next week or two.

Woke up this morning with the chorus in my head as well as the instrumental part of the pre-chorus (IIRC). I cannot wait to see where this eventually ends up on my chart when I make it later in the week. My enthusiasm for this song, which has gone from negligible to red-hot in fewer than 5 spins thus far, is surprising me and I love it.

Here's the music video, maybe it'll help you with your enthusiasm or create the demise of your recent liking of this song:

Plus it was the perfect excuse to go ahead and play the song again, when I otherwise would have waited longer to listen to it, as to not risk overdoing it so soon.

Oh, why didn't anyone tell me this song is currently a free download on Amazon? It ended up debuting at a very respectable #19 on my personal Top 40 chart this week, by the way. ("Sail," for perspective, this whole time was never once considered as a contender for my chart, which I often extend an additional 20 unofficial rankings.)

Sail is still terrible, but this song is amazing. Other than this and Guilty Filthy Soul, however, the album rarely succeeds unfortunately.

"Sail" is a very interesting song. I won't say that it's better than "Not Your Fault" even though I like it more because I don't want to come across as a douche and saying that the song I like better is factually better than the one you like better. But there are a lot of things from a musical standpoint that make "Sail" give me a way bigger musical hard-on than anything that happens in "Not Your Fault".
