Top 50 - Alternative:
81 49 ADELE Someone Like You 108 47 61 0.667
Was not expecting this to reach Top 50 on alternative, with a big bullet too!

Wow! That means she's had two multi-format hits in a row. By multi-format, I mean Pop, Alternative, Rhythmic, Hot AC, AC, Triple-A. What else?

I don't see how this is charting here. "Rumour Has It" is more Alternative than this.

Honestly I'd rather not see her songs charting here. She's talented, but I don't really like her style.

I just can't get into anything that I've heard from her and really don't understand why she's charting on Alternative. I hear her songs constantly while at work since they have on a Pop station all day and while I think she has a talented voice, feel that she's more situated to stay strictly to a Pop audience.

I think "Set Fire To The Rain" is the most alternative-friendly song on the album, and it needs to be pushed there.

This does stand out but in the mid-90s, it wouldn't have I don't think.
Though having this song even graze the chart makes me wonder, is it possible that this format is trying to stretch itself to try to adopt some of the hits from Pop in order to try to win an audience increase at all?

Sadly, I genuinely don't see Adele blazing a trail for more variety on radio. Her success this year is an absolute one-off occurrence IMO and totally unique to her.

Aren't there some stations on the Alternative panel that are Hot AC leaning? Could that be the reason for this song's Alternative "success"?

I can see the Alternative appeal of "Rolling in the Deep," "Rumour Has It," and "Set Fire to the Rain," but not so much on this one.

Didn't this song chart on Rhythmic as well?
Apparently radio stations just feel like playing it despite their format...

Even though I get the feeling that the reason we're seeing this on the chart is the same reason we've seen recent hits by The Fray and OneRepublic making chart appearances... Cool. .

Shocked to see this hit the chart (with a considerably large bullet) last weekend, especially since "Rumour Has It" didn't get too far, and despite sticking around, has already been purged from the chart.
Since I haven't caught "Buried Alive" on the radio for over a week now (haven't been listening much, though), this was the #1 song on my chart last week. Cool, if unexpected, to see the song chart on Alternative. I would say it's unfortunate I'll never get to hear it on local Alternative radio, but obviously, I hear it so much from its airplay on more than one other format that it doesn't even matter. :)
"Rolling in the Deep" eventually hit my chart and has been up and down on its bottom half ever since, but for whatever reason, this song, while not immediate either, slowly caught fire and I get lost in it now.
