I'll post it later tonight, or since you didn't ask for anyone in particular, maybe someone else will beat me to it

Thanks, 2m.
Some notes: * Donny Hathaway's"This Christmas" has airplay at Urban and Urban AC to thank for its charting- the track isn't even in the iTunes top 1000. * Despite top airplay, Burl Ives' "Holly Jolly Christmas" doesn't see the sales that of the other big holiday classics see (currently No. 769 on iTunes). * Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" also isn't a big digital seller (currently No. 743 on iTunes).

This chart reminds me of what people say when someone tries to come up with a new baseball statistic. They always say, "Great, a statistic that tells me Albert Pujols is a great hitter. Like I didn't know that before." ... For this, I'd say, "Great, a chart that tells me "All I Want for Christmas Is You," is the most popular Christmas song." Like we didn't know that already, lol.

I know this is a false statement so far in the 3-week history of this chart but....
there will come a time when Mariah Carey is not #1

^It probably would take a new Christmas recording- or an older one receiving exposure in some big movie or TV show- that gets big airplay to challenge, though. We see each year that none of the other holiday classics get the sales that AIWFCIY gets.

Or a chart published in November
This chart is only 3 weeks old. Really easy to say Mariah will ALWAYS be #1 so far

In other words there are scenarios where a Holiday Songs chart will not have Mariah at #1
Justin Bieber would have been #1 in November for example, had this chart existed then

^That is correct- most definitely October, when it first came out. :) However, we don't know if Billboard will publish the chart next November, or just resume again for the first chart in December. It may figure that since holiday airplay is so low in October, it's not worth having the chart then- though, it publishes Holiday Digital Songs in October, so who knows.

It is called "Holiday" rather than Christmas because we are working in Halloween and Thanksgiving too.
Mariah's airplay doesn't fare too well on those holidays
sales obviously are not the same that it used to be for this song

^True, it has not performed as well this season as it has in past ones (when it cracked the top 20 on iTunes by this time). Note, though, that Billboard did not chart tracks we've come to know as Halloween perennials on the Holiday Digital Songs chart (i.e. "Monster Mash," "Thriller," etc.). So, Halloween may be the odd holiday out.

Some clarification regarding what makes up the Holiday Songs chart:
The chart encompasses only tracks related to Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa and New Years- no other holiday-related tracks apply. And, as November is when radio starts to play holiday music in a big way, next year's chart will resume end of November/early December.

AIWFCIY holds at No. 1 on the 12/31 chart, without a bullet. Hopefully will post the full chart. Thanks in advance. :)

Thanks, samtha. :)
That "Hippopotamus " song is kinda cute, I have to admit.
Four versions of the 1994 "All I Want For Christmas is You" on the chart, while the pre-1994 track re-enters.

This thread will be buried among the many other threads to come by next year and will no longer be new.
Rather than try and find it again with the "search" function (assuming I even remember it is there) I would likely create a new thread

^Of course. :) I wonder if Billboard will run a 1/14 chart, as Holiday Songs also encompasses New-Years-themed tracks- not that any sell a whole lot or get much airplay.
I believe the final Holiday Digital Songs chart last season was 1/22, which was one week too much, m,e thinks- at least on the 1/15/11 chart, there was a handful of New Year's tracks (but, again, the airplay and sales for all tracks on that chart were very low). Unlike Holiday Songs, though, the digital chart starts publishing in October, when sales are very low for Thanksgiving/Christmas titles.

Mimi dethroned. :o www.billboard.com/news#/news/justin-bieber-hangs-mistletoe-atop-holiday-1005748152.storyJustin Bieber Hangs 'Mistletoe' Atop Holiday Songs Chartby Gary Trust, N.Y. | December 28, 2011 12:50 EST Justin Bieber's "Mistletoe" jingles 2-1 on Billboard's final Holiday Songs chart this season, dethroning Mariah Carey's 1994 carol "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which led the list all four of its previous weeks. This year, Billboard premiered the 50-position seasonal songs survey, which ranks holiday tracks of all eras based on a formula blending airplay on more than 1,200 radio stations, download sales and streaming data as tracked by Nielsen Entertainment. "Mistletoe" decorates the Holiday Songs perch by registering a 147% gain to 155,000 downloads sold in the Dec. 19-25 tracking week, according to Nielsen SoundScan and holding at No. 1 for an eighth (non-consecutive) week on the Holiday Digital Songs chart. On Holiday Airplay, "Mistletoe" debuts at No. 44 with a 78% increase to 12 million in audience, according to Nielsen BDS. The song has drawn its greatest radio support from adult and pop stations, as it jumps 6-2 as the Greatest Gainer on Adult Contemporary and becomes the Pop Songs chart's first holiday hit in 12 years with a launch at No. 40. Carey can't be too upset with Bieber for knocking her out of the Holiday Songs penthouse: their duet remake of "Want" rebounds 37-24. Both "Mistletoe" and the "Want" collaboration with Carey appear on Bieber's album "Under The Mistletoe," which ranks at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in its eighth chart week. The set has sold 1.2 million copies, according to SoundScan. Michael Buble's ballad version of "Want," meanwhile, bullets at No. 22 on Holiday Songs; it logs a fifth week atop Adult Contemporary this week, matching Josh Groban's "Believe" (2004-05) for the longest reign for a holiday song in the AC chart's 50-year history. Below Bieber's "Mistletoe" and Carey's original "Want," Jose Feliciano's "Feliz Navidad" (No. 3), Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)" (No. 4) and Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" (No. 5) round out the top five on the Holiday Songs chart that reflects activity through Christmas Day. Bieber places an additional song in the Holiday Songs top 10, as "Drummer Boy" debuts at No. 9. As the survey is not exclusively a ranking of Christmas songs, Adam Sandler's "The Chanukah Song" bounds in at No. 20. The 1995 single ("for all those nice little Jewish kids who don't get to hear any Chanukah songs") soars 30-5 on Holiday Digital Songs (21,000, up 107%) after the eight-day holiday began Dec. 20.

I just knew you'd be quick to take note. ;)
"Mistletoe" does qualify as a new recording this season. :) The big sales gain trumped whatever lead AIWFCIY had in airplay. Cracking the pop top 40 is a decent showing, too.

Much thanks, 2m. :)
Here are all of the entries and their peaks for this season. The 1/7 chart lists 3 weeks on for Adam Sandler's "The Chanukah Song," but it's the first week (unless a chart was reran?) "The Thanksgiving Song" logged one week on the seasons' first chart.
No. 1 All I Want For Christmas Is You, Mariah Carey (4 weeks on top; 5 weeks charted) Mistletoe, Justin Bieber (1 week on top; 5 weeks charted)
No. 3 Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, Brenda Lee (5 weeks) The Christmas Song, Nat King Cole (5 weeks) Feliz Navidad, Jose Felciano (5 weeks)
No. 4 Jingle Bell Rock, Bobby Helms (5 weeks)
No. 6 A Holly Jolly Christmas, Burl Ives (5 weeks)
