Thanks for posting here- let's keep this thread going for another season. :)
Some tracks see some new peaks already- just in the top 10, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "A Holly Jolly Christmas," "It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "White Christmas" and "Christmas Eve (Sartajevo 24)" all attain new highs.
The Carpenters look to have the most entries (three)- and "Merry Christmas Darling" reaches a new peak of 24 (up from 35 last year).
Marah Carey's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" also reaches a new peak of 26 (up from 42 last season).
Yay for "Linus & Lucy." :)
Nice to see Ronettes' and Perry Como's classic recordings surface.

With holiday songs eligible to chart in the top 50, I thought I'd look up the peaks of catalog holiday tracks on Digital Songs- the only Hot-100-component chart on which they were able to compete with non-holiday tracks.
First, how the mother of modern holiday tracks, Mimi Carey's "All I Want For Christmas is You," has performed each year since 2005 (peak for that season in bold): (Note: It had four weeks on Digital Tracks in 2004, peaking at No. 8)
2005: 40-15-4-1-2-12 2006: 59-24-9-8-7-11 2007: 24-10-8-11-17 2008: 56-29-17-16-19 2009: 18-14-17-24-50 2010: 60-23-21-25-66 2011: 62-30-27-29-55
So, 37 weeks thus far in the top 75 of Hot Digital Songs for AIEFCIY.
Now, how other holiday classics fared on Hot Digital Songs (just their peak and weeks on the chart). Just a handful or so of these have appeared on the Hot 100 in the past- the biggest being "The Chipmunk Song," which reached No. 1; "White Christmas" reached No. 12 on the Hot 100, but was No. 1/top 10 on pre-Hot 100 charts. "The Christmas Song" only got to No. 65 on the Hot 100, but appeared on pre-Hot 100 charts, too. "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" peaked at No. 14 on the Hot 100 in the 1960s.
Adam Sandler, The Chanukah Song: No. 15/11 weeks Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24): No. 21/23 weeks Brenda Lee, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree: No. 23/17 weeks Jose Feliciano, Feliz Navidad: No. 26/15 weeks Bruce Springsteen, Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town:No. 31/8 weeks Nat King Cole, The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You): No. 32/6 weeks Burl Ives, A Holly Jolly Christmas: No. 32/4 weeks Thurl Ravenscroft, You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch: No. 33/2 weeks John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Happy Xmas (War Is Over): No. 34/2 weeks Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Christmas Canon: No. 39/15 weeks David Seville & The Chipmiunks, The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late): No. 39/9 weeks Dean Martin, Baby, It's Cold Outside: No. 44/5 weeks Where Are You Christmas?: No. 45/9 weeks Bobby Helms, Jingle Bell Rock: No. 45/7 weeks Elvis Presley, Blue Christmas: No. 47/3 weeks Andy Williams, It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year: No. 50/3 weeks Eartha Kitt, Santa Baby: No. 59/10 weeks (12/29/07) Dean Martin, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow: No. 59/3 weeks Beach Boys, Little Saint Nick: No. 63/1 week (12/25/10) Bing Crosby, White Christmas: No. 66/2 weeks Wham! Last Christmas: No. 67/3 weeks Vince Guaraldi Trio, Christmas Time Is Here: No. 68/1 week The Thanksgiving Song: No. 73/1 week Eagles, Please Come Home For Christmas: No. 74/1 week

No holiday tracks appeared in the streaming top 50 for the 12/8 chart, but we could see some in the next few weeks.

I wonder how Mariah's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" does so well. It was never a single. It seems to be doing better than year than it ever has, and it's above the more classic versions by U2 and Darlene Love.

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm guessing there is a major city's AC station that has put it on major rotation for the first time. It's also #20 on iTunes Holiday songs.

I don't get how that NewSong track does as well as it does, given the content.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far, the only two songs to hit #1 on this chart are "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and "Mistletoe," correct?

I thought Oh Santa went #1 too or am I mistaken? Holiday Songs wasn't around the year "Oh Santa" was released, but it wouldn't have gone to #1 anyway. The chart made its debut last year.

BSS's single debuted at No. 1 on Holiday Digital Songs some weeks ago, but has not appeared on the top 50 Holiday Songs chart.

Mariah's "Christmas (BPCH)" seems to be doing a lot better this year than last year. Random.

There's no disputing who the current king of Christmas is- Buble has a whopping eight entries on this week's chart. He by far has had the most entries in the eight weeks that this chart has been compiled.
Other multi-entry acts:
Three Mariah Carey Carpenters Vince Guaraldi Trio Justin Bieber Glee Cast
Two Bing Crosby Elvis Presley Burl Ives Andy Williams Trans-Siberian Orchestra Gene Autry Adam Sandler Johnny Mathis Jackson 5 Frank Sinatra

^"Super Festive!" of course. :)
That does help Buble, but his album is in its second year, and his tracks are doing even better this year than last.
By the way- is Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas" the only gold- or platinum-certified holiday single to not appear on the Hot 100? It, of course, was No. 1 on the Christmas chart. It was released commercially in 1964 (it was recorded in 1957)
So many of the most popular holiday hits have never appeared on the Hot 100 (or pre-Hot 100 charts). Gene Autry's "Rudolph..." hit No. 1 in 1949, and Nat "King" Cole's "The Christmas Song" reached No. 3 (it did appear on the Hot 1200, but in a position not reflective of its popularity). Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" logged 14 weeks at No. 1 pre-Hot 100, and, years later, did chart at No. 12 on the Hot 100.
A few have appeared on Hot 100 Airplay, though. Non-Hot 100 holiday hits now have a shot at the Hot 100, but I think the bulk will never accumulate enough points to rank in the top 50 (barring some pop-culture-influenced moment):
Just some:
Holly Jolly Christmas (Burl Ives, 1965) It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year (Andy Williams, 1963) Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) (TSO, 1995/1996) Last Christmas (Wham! 1984) Happy Xmas (War Is Over) (John Lennon & Yoko Ono, 1971) Wonderful Christmastime (Paul McCartney, 1979)

^TSO's "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" is certified gold (now eligible for platinum). A couple others have scanned more than 500K, but I don't think they've been certified.

Thanks, 2m.
A couple of highlights: * Buble lands a ninth entry on the chart this week. All of his entries sit at their peaks this week. * Mimi Carey's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" sneaks inside the top 20, while Sir Buble's version makes a big jump to 24. Darlene Love's original is still MIA.

Thanks, 2m.
"Blue Christmas" nudged up to a new peak- should be noted, of course, that it logged two weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's prior Christmas Songs chart (when holiday tracks were not eligible for the Hot 100). It charted for 12 seasons (the chart ran from 1963-73 and 1983-1985). In 1984,m though, Billboard did chart two Christmas singles on the Hot 100, but not on Christmas Songs (one was "Do They Know It's Christmas?").
