Basic thoughts right after listening:
-Lots of different sounds that I haven't heard Carrie sing before -Blown Away sounds completely different... than I had imagined. -The production is AWESOME. It makes a lot of the clips. -Not many up-tempo -Tough to judge favorites so soon, but I love the clips of Two Black Cadillacs and Do You Think About Me -Cupid's Got a Shotgun sounds so Miranda. -GG is BY FAR the most pop sounding. -Very little Carrie belting... except maybe Who are You.

The clips for Blown Away, Two Black Cadillacs, Cupid's Got A Shotgun, Forever Changed, and Wine After Whiskey have particularly caught my interest. The clips indicate to me a totally different vibe for this album than her first three. Both Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs sound epic and Cupid's Got a Shotgun sounds like it would be a hit. Obviously, this opinion is based solely on short clips of the songs. Excited, table for one. lol

"Good Girl" is definitely the most Pop... so much so that I find it to be an outlier compared to the rest of the album.
I'll post my extensive thoughts later.

Oooh I really like "See You Again" at first listen, it's a bit gospel-ish. Nice mix of stuff overall. Not sure what I make of the way her voice sounds on "Blown Away" though--seems like it's been processed in some weird way.

Ok that song was NOT what I imagined. It's epic! The album is a monster.

Wow! Didn't except it to come out now.
My first thoughts:
''Blown Away'' sounds intense, as described. ''Two Black Cadillacs''' sounds absolutely brilliant to me so far. I love ''See You Again'' too. "'Do You Think About Me'' sound like a sweet country song, same with "Thank God for Hometowns''. ''Good in Goodbye sounds better then expected, with Ryan Tedder as co-writer. ''Wine After Whiskey'' sounds so great too.
The production sounds much more diverse then previews albums. And I think it might be her most country effort to date.

Woah......Amazing! I can't wait to hear them all in full. I LOVE "Nobody Ever Told You"!!! So different for Carrie!
I wasn't planning on listening to clips but I caved. At least I held out for an hour this time instead of 10 minutes when GG clip was released! lol!

She needs to perform Forever Changed. By the clip alone that song is done beautifully.

I wrote in my blog post about the clips that when it came to PO's clips, I felt the first half was good, the second half was meh. With this album, there are strong songs throughout.

The voice on the beginning of BA does give me an Annie Lennox/Eurythmics feel. It obviously wasn't like that on the demo I heard.

Do you think about me like I think about you? :'( The voice on the beginning of BA does give me an Annie Lennox/Eurythmics feel. I love it. She sounds possessed.

Nobody Ever told You is the only one I personally don't like. Just not feeling that one.

I love that one. The only one that's not doing much for me as of now is "Who Are You."
"Leave Love Alone" still seems pretty inconsequential to me but it's a riot.

LOL, Well I'm not feeling Who Are You and Leave Love Alone either but so far those 2 and Nobody Ever Told You are the only skip overs for me. The rest sounds awesome to my ears

I love Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs. I love the feel of Do You Think About Me. I hope Carrie explores some "different" songs for singles. Not really feeling Cupid or Good in Goodbye. But DEFINITELY enjoying the clips more than PO.

WOW!!! Carrie's vocals...Holy s*hit. The clips of "Blown Away," "See You Again," "Forever Changed,"Thank God For Hometowns," "Good In Goodbye" and "Wine After Whiskey" literally sent chills down my spine. LOVE the sounds of "Cupid," "Leave Love Alone," "Two Black Cadillacs," Nobody Ever Told You" and One Way Ticket;" there is certainly no shortage of styles on "Blown Away." There are some big atmospheric changes, and I can see what Carrie meant about the "darker" songs now; "Two Black Cadillacs," "Good In Goodbye" and especially "Blown Away" sound incredibly dark. "Blown Away" sounds COMPLETELY different from what I expected, and it's f***ing epic. Just based on the clips it seems the album is full of strong lyrics, awesome vocals and different styles. I feel like 90% of artists who say they're gonna "change up" their sound never actually do it- to be honest, I was expecting it from Carrie because I've been letdown so many times. So thank you Carrie for delivering!! Refreshing. To be perfectly honest, I was disappointed when Carrie said there would no power ballads on BA- listening to these clips, I'm actually grateful for that. The songs sound true to Carrie's style, but they differing styles allow her to show she can do a full album WITHOUT belting her butt off. Needless to say, I think we can assume Carrie got herself out of the rut that was PO & she's BACK!!! So many of these songs sound like potential singles...she's gonna change it up no matter what's released. "Blown Away"- One word: CHILLS. The production, vocals, everything. It sounds almost pop/rock in a dark way, but still country. VERY unique blend of styles. I love that Carrie uses her voice differently on every song even though she could go all "power ballad diva" on everything if she chose (aka Martina McBride). It seems like people stereotype her style quite a bit, and this album is finally gonna rip that theory to shreds. "Two Black Cadillacs"- Again, this sounds just like it was described. The lyrics sound like they're way above any of Carrie's co-writes on PO. I was kinda worried about her growth as a writer after hearing GG, but this will one will probably erase my doubts. "See You Again"- This one will most likely have a religious vibe, but it sounds very atmospheric, with a gospel vibe. I LOVE the sound of the background vocals; it's nice to hear them add something to the record, as opposed to drowning her out. Carrie's gonna take us to church!! "Do You Think About Me"- This sounds like a sweet, folksy song. Carrie's vocals are top-notch. "Do You Think About Me"- I LOVE the sound of her vocals here, and I'm SO glad she didn't go into "power ballad queen" mode which she could've easily done. "Forever Changed"- WOW. I can already tell this one is gonna bring on the tears. The only way to describe Carrie's vocals here is angelic...her voice is heavenly. Literally. Sounds like a sweet song, and the songwriting should be great if it's got a story. I also wanna use a Carrie song at my (future) wedding, and I was praying she'd give us something better than "Mama's Song" down the line. : "Nobody Ever Told You-" This one was not was I expecting at all and I LOVE it!!! I was totally expecting a ballad, but I love the breezy, island-y feel; it's feel-good, but doesn't sound like a cliché uptempo. It sounds completely different from anything she's done, especially with an uptempo. I LOVE the opening line- "Mirror mirror on the wall, actin' like it knows it all/Tells you lies of vanity, it doesn't care what's underneath." Again, THANK YOU Carrie for not giving another ballad with this kinda title. PS- The background whistles reminded me of "The Little Mermaid"- can someone tell me I'm not crazy?? Haha. "One Way Ticket"- This sound is also completely different, and I love it. Carrie's vocals can fit such an array of styles. Again, it doesn't sound like a stale, beachy anthem (aka Kenny Chesney style), and I 100% approve. It reminded me of Jessica Andrews song "Good Time." The whistling is a genius touch an adds a unique element. I honestly find whistling to be obnoxious in most songs, but this really adds to the vibe of the song 100%. "Thank God For Hometowns-" It always me to hear Carrie sing or talk about Oklahoma; she's so sincere, it's heartwarming. I love that she included it because OK is so special to her; considering how far she has come since IAICA, this song is a perfect touch to such a transitional album. It's chillingly fitting. Also I love that it's got a completely different from IAICA; again, thank goodness for no "clone" songs of past hits. Carrie has come such a long way as an interpretative vocalist; I'm even more excited to hear this. "Good In Goodbye-" This sounds solid; I had my doubts, seeing it was a Tedder co-write. I could see this one being similar to Starts With Goodbye" lyrically. I said it before but I'll say it again- this woman's voice is literally angelic when she uses this tone. "Leave Love Alone"- Basic, fun lyrics, but they still sound very "Carrie." The style is very rootsy, and I've been wanting her to do something like this on an album. Even if the lyrics are underwhelming, the production and the vocals should be more than enough to make up for lyrical shortcomings. Carrie has really coming along way in inserting her emotions/personality into her lyrics, so this is bound to be a fun one. "Cupid's Got A Shotgun"- I'm not crazy about the clip, to be honest, but it sounds like a fun one. I'm just hoping Brad doesn't go overboard with the guitars and create a wall of noise. LOL. "Wine After Whiskey"- I loved the lyrics of this one when I first read them last year; her vocals are absolutely superb. Carrie is one of those vocalists who can take an already great song to another world. She is truly amazing and deserving of the praise she gets. "Who Are You"- I'm honestly not sure what to think of this one; I like the vibe of it, and it sounds quirky- "who are you who lives as deep as I do/who are you who takes me through the flood and through the fire." Very interesting. Sounds almost like she's thanking God for giving her help from above or something- I wonder if He is the "you" she is referring to, or if it's an actual person. AND BEST OF ALL (Wait for it...) NO BOY-BASHING SONGS!!! Our Carrie is all-grown up. .

"Blown Away" sounds pretty awesome--really modern and actually has more Pop appeal than "Good Girl," while still feeling more Country. I agree that the production seems to be a consistent strong point. I think the clips are top heavy (aka the first half is stronger, with the "Wine after "Whiskey" exception), but hard to tell with only 30 seconds. Not here for the honkier fare like "Leave Love Alone" and "One Way Ticket" (there should be a hyphen there), but no surprise there since those are really country and that's not usually my thing.
The themes seem a little scattered after one listen, so I'm curious to see if the full songs pull things together a bit so it's a good album rather than a collection of good songs; but based on these clips, it could still be her best album yet, for sure.

The extra time she took is well worth it by listening to these clips even though it drove her fans crazy having to wait for new music. Well worth the wait

Wow! She made the mark. This is looking to be completely different from the other albums she's made. A lot of these songs for me might be growers, even if they're slow ones. I really can't pick a favorite from these clips. The only weak songs I can hear for now are "See You Again, "Leave Love Alone". Of course, hearing the whole album would make for better judgments.
Here's to hoping she can moves bigger amounts of albums again, or at least more longevity on the BB 200. I know that Carnival Ride and Play On didn't sell as much as I thought it would, but given the circumstances, they done pretty well. This album seems like it'll do as well as her last two, but we'll see what happens.
I think I found my next avatar caption here, too. ;)

Wow this is going to be an epic album. "Blown Away" sounds like a smash. And I need to hear "Forever Changed". Sounds incredible. Solely based off the clips, I can already call this Carrie's best album. I am so intrigued to listen. Pumped for Saturday!
