I know that in regards to all-time-act lists, acts receive 50% of the total points that a track accumulates for its weekly performance for "&" and "Duet With" credits. However, "With" is treated the same as "Featuring"- 30% split among the featured acts.
Billboard's points system isn't as simple as 100 points for No. 1, down to 1 for No. 100, though. And then for the all-time charts, there's the weighting methodology.

From my understanding, the decade end charts use the inverse point system, as well as the all time charts (with weighting for songs before 1991).
Year end charts use actual sales and airplay of songs during their stay on the Hot 100.

I'm almost done with 2011 year end chart (7 weeks of charts left!). RITD is running away with it, its not even remotely close. F**k You has overperformed and is a sure thing for #2. #3 is going down to the wire between Firework and Party Rock Anthem. Give Me Everything will beat out E.T. for #5. Another major overperformer is If I Die Young, which will be in the top 25. The biggest underperformer I can find is Born This Way, which won't. I expected many of these innacuracies. In general, songs don't get rewarded enough points for being at #1. I'm working on a weighting system for the purpose of predicting the year end chart. Extra points will be rewarded to songs for each week at #1 and in the top 10. I suppose 2012 will be the test run for this... Also, Young, Wild & Free is turning out to be quite the sleeper hit! Rank | Artist, Song | Points | Updated? | 1 | Rihanna Featuring Calvin Harris, We Found Love | 1915 | * | 2 | Flo Rida, Good Feeling | 1855 | * | 3 | LMFAO, Sexy And I Know It | 1846 | * | 4 | Bruno Mars, It Will Rain | 1797 | * | 5 | Adele, Set Fire To The Rain | 1760 | * | 6 | Jay-Z & Kanye West, Ni**as In Paris | 1698 | * | 7 | Adele, Someone Like You | 1677 | * | 8 | Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa Featuring Bruno Mars, Young, Wild & Free | 1676 | * | 9 | Maroon 5 Featuring Christina Aguilera, Moves Like Jagger | 1662 | * | 10 | LMFAO Featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, Party Rock Anthem | 1650 | * | 11 | Katy Perry, The One That Got Away | 1608 | | 12 | Drake Featuring Lil Wayne, The Motto | 1604 | * | 13 | Jessie J, Domino | 1549 | * | 14 | Gavin DeGraw, Not Over You | 1504 | * | 15 | David Guetta Featuring Usher, Without You | 1494 | | 16 | Drake Featuring Rihanna, Take Care | 1452 | * | 17 | Pitbull Featuring Chris Brown, International Love | 1450 | * | 18 | Big Sean Featuring Nicki Minaj, Dance (A$$) | 1421 | | 19 | Tyga, Rack City | 1356 | * | 20 | Adele, Rolling In The Deep | 1328 | * | 21 | J. Fun. has obviously way more points than Gotye, but that's the problem with us only having the positions.

Fun. has obviously way more points than Gotye, but that's the problem with us only having the positions. Yes, being limited to only positions means that there will be differences between this chart and the year end chart. However, this should be able to predict decade end charts much better. I'm working on a weighting system (which I'll test on 2011 data), so hopefully that will fix some innacuracies.

I think the year end Top 5 will consist of: We Found Love, We Are Young, Stronger and then 2 other songs that haven't been released yet.

Kind of hilarious how fun is still all the way down at 28! Right?! It certainly feels like it's been much bigger than that so far. I'm sure, after a few more weeks, we'll see it much higher.

I was wondering, since on-demand streaming was added and digital sales points were lowered during the course of the year, I wonder if Billboard will consider that for the year-end Hot 100.
It's not fair to compare the songs using different formulas.

Considering its weeks at #1 were much stronger than average, it would probably be around #10 right now, at least. I mean, it's the best selling song of the year so far by like 500k.

It's not fair to compare the songs using different formulas. That's a really interesting point... I'm sure points can be stretched and squeezed along some equivalency system.

They can easily adjust past digital sales to the new weight, yeah, but some songs will have zero on-demand streaming no matter what. And the latter is, as we've seen, a huge influence.
I guess we won't really know until December anyway.

This is why changes should be made on a yearly basis if they are going to have a material effect on the charts.
It's better to compare apples to apples than to try to normalize stuff randomly. I agree with the changes to the chart but not the timing of them.

Looking forward to this week's update.
It's safe to say that "We are Young" and "Somebody that I Used to Know" are the only real contenders for #1.

Some action this week, Domino makes top 10, Party Rock Anthem passes Move Like Jagger, We Are Young should enter the top 20 by the skin of its teeth next week. I think you're correct j74. Whichever between WAY and SIUTK that has the most longevity will most likely be the #1 song of the year. I think that Gotye will take it, but its to soon to be sure. Really liking it. That's the same system I use to compare my artists chart runs. Gonna post it, soon. Good job, icefire and j74. People try to say it's not the real system, that we need sales and radio. But if we haven't them, we need to be more simply and this system it's really good.
