ART OFFICIAL AGE is definitely his best since 3121 and one of his better albums of the past 20 years. Nothing groundbreaking for him, but it's a very solid collection of songs.

3RDEYEGIRL is not one of his better female ensembles. They might be good musicians but the songs on their project are pretty sterilized for what's being promoted as a "funk rock" band and none of them are charismatic vocalists.

It's cool he's still releasing music. All he really needs to do is tour.

Damn where did these albums come from? Only listened to the clips so far but I'm very impressed.

I'm still holding out hope that someday we will get a Prince/Janelle Monae track and/or collaborative album. They would fit so perfectly together

Another one I meant. I think Givin Em What They Want was one of the best tracks on the Electric Lady. I would love to see what else the two of them could put together.

The fact that he captioned it that tho. LMAO! In other news, he's performing on SNL November 1.

It's on sale for $6.99 on Amazon. This may be the first Prince CD that I get.

LMAO. After pulling his entire discography off every streaming service except for Tidal, he debuts a brand new song called "Stare"...ironically as a Spotify exclusive. Not even Tidal has that song.
Hopefully this means he'll put back his discography, and hopefully it also means that he realized that Tidal is a flop.

The video on this site has circulated before but in case you all haven't seen it, here it is. It's the concert from 1983 where "Purple Rain" was performed for the first time. The version on the album is actually an edit of this performance with some slight overdubs. It also contains an additional verse not heard in the released version. This additional verse has not appeared in any other live or recorded versions. consequenceofsound.net/2015/09/footage-surfaces-of-princes-first-purple-rain-performance-circa-1983-watch/It still amazes me how perfect this live version was and that the released version only varies slightly from this.

I was surprised when I read your post that such video would still be available. Of course it's down already. Prince's team is always looking for this kind of stuff. They must have already filed a lawsuit against the website that published it.... It's a bummer that nowadays I'm kind of indifferent to any new singles or albums Prince releases. I'm sure once this new album is released somehow outside of Tidal, I will get it for my collection, but by now I already lost all hope that he'll put something out that will really really impress me the way his older work used to. I was LITERALLY OBSESSED with his music during the 80s and 90s. I don't know how many books I have and was following all details of his huge discography. I still have my full collection and often still revisit those older albums that were PURE MAGIC to me.

I like the two previously released singles, "MR NELSON," and "1000 X's and O's". I prefer ART OFFICIAL AGE to this, but it's got a few keepers.
