Well I think it's about time to kick off this thread. Happy to start with one of the best pop albums I've heard in a long time.
Time - Mikky Ekko
It's been a very long time since I've listened to a pop album and immediately loved all (or even nearly all) of the songs. That streak ended this week when I give Time by Mikky Ekko a stream. I'm familiar with Mikky's work. He first caught my attention in 2012 with "Pull Me Down," which became a top 10 hit on my personal chart. His next few releases didn't do very much for me, until "Smile" late last year. With Time, everything seems to have clicked together. It feels immaculate: sensitively produced to bring out Mikky's smooth tone. Each track is distinguishable on first listen, yet the album remains very cohesive, united by a tender insensity. I can't say I hear a lot of Top 40 hits, but I imagine the album will earn him a lot of fans nonetheless.
