Has a new single been announced? It's unlike her to release only three singles from an album, especially one with two big hits. What are they waiting for? A greatest hits album is rumored. I really hope they consider releasing a fourth single, maybe just to radio (similar to the title track off All I Ever Wanted).

Aren't those called "promo singles"? The ones that are somehow sent to radio but with no actual plans of doing a video or any actual promo? I wish I knew more about how actual releases and singles worked. I can't help but feel like we here at Pulse rely on "adds dates" more than is actually the case when it comes to deciding what to add/play.

Add dates I believe make it an actual single. For example "Gone" from breakaway wasn't a single, despite the radio play. Where as All I ever wanted was sent to radio as a single. It didn't require a video or any tv promo because it was a followup to a hit song and they wanted it to help sell the album without putting money in or costs for a video. Letting radio do it's thing. Some songs do this, and eventually surprise the label and do well and then a video is released.I think Country music is more popular for this.

Promo singles existed long before iTunes did. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promotional_singleAccording to this, promo singles are usually unmarked and barely labeled singles sent to radio stations and often before the release of an album. I was looking at Alanis Morissette's list of promo singles that include songs from her albums that didn't make any chart at all - except Uninvited. Which didn't technically have a video and I don't think actually had any other promotion.

So All I ever wanted was a official single. But who knows in this crazy music buz world

A song doesn't need a video to be called a single. An adds date is more than enough. In the itunes era I don't think a 'radio-only single' makes sense as you can buy the song on the digital outlets anytime you want to. Then there are cases like Rumour Has It where the label announces a song as single but never releases it to radio and the song becomes a hit on its own. Or even more odd, Timberlake's Summer Love reached #1 (blocked Umbrella) out of nowhere. It's weird. Just ask Ciara for more info on promo singles.
