She has the John Lewis Christmas ad this year. for those not in the UK, each year their emotional christmas adverts are anticipated by many. They usually feature a British female singer covering a classic. Last year Gabrielle Aplin covered The Power of Love and it shot her straight to the number one spot. This year Lily covered Somewhere Only We Know by Keane. Already at number 5 on iTunes. Up to number 2 on iTunes!!

I like it. Gimmicky, of course, but probably what she needs to get her name back out there, though I'm not sure it will be any kind of hit.

So camp, and kinda lacking that snark that makes her so charming; but this delivers. Feminist anthem. Glad it's not that country bulls**t we were told we'd be getting.
Best news is I could see her getting a legitimate hit stateside with this.

this is kind of bad, sounds fairly dated with all that auto tune she doesn't need.
Im surprised they're releasing this when they should be focusing on her cover song which should be number one in a few weeks time.

It's great exposure for her to have two singles with such different sounds going. Beyoncé has done similar double singles (and that's just a notable example, they aren't unheard of).
The autotune definitely feels like satire. The video packs more of a punch than the song itself though, but I don't think it sounds so dated that it couldn't work on radio.

Satire is fine but she always packed more of a punch. She's make fun and laugh in your face. This is a little more sketch like? Is this the lead off of her new album? I hope not. It's catchy and fun but promo single would en great with album and lead single to follow in new year. Please.

Theon Greyjoy's sister is back, y'all. I see that RiRi pussy pattin' shade too, girl! Big fan of Lily's and this song is pretty fly.

Hard Out Here is absolutely fantastic! Color me excited for the new album!
I also hadn't realized she was only 28, for some reason I thought she was a bit older.

Anyway:

I feel like it's more of a "viral" single, announcement of her return to generate some buzz, rather than the official lead single for radio. I do like it, though.
I hope this album starts where INM,IY left off. What a great pop record that was. Her best song, IMO, is still "Not Fair".

I can't get enough of this song. When is it going to iTunes/Spotify? I need new music from her outside the confines of YouTube (and I'm not here for her meek Keane cover, earnest as it may be).

I don't think her Keane cover is bad... it's just not something she needs to do ever again, really.
I doubt this is the official lead either (kind of came out of nowhere, didn't it?); but with the initial response being as positive as it is, they could probably get away with it?
Love her response on twitter as well. She was earnest, stuck to her guns, but most importantly respectful. Adore her.

I actually love the cover it's so chilling in a Tim Burton kind of way. And her voice is so wonderful.
I'm so glad she's back. Ugh.

Word is there's a new track, "Air Balloon," coming Monday, as accidentally leaked (and now deleted, I think) by BBC Radio 1's playlist page.
