The discount was most likely implemented too late. Streaming is pulling the song down. I see the "Wide Awake" getting as high as number 2 next week, but it will probably be Flo Rida who takes the top spot with his high position on both the sales and streaming charts. Nevertheless, I am thrilled with how this single did. So many thought it was a misstep and would underperform, but that was most definitely not the case. Number 2 on the Hot 100 and number 1 one CHR. Pretty fantastic for an 8th (not 2nd ;)) single from an era.

I wanted the #1 but her team deserves it...they have marketed this entire era perfectly and then they wait to discount the song until its too late. So had they not discounted at least it wouldn't look cheap. They did and so not only is it cheap it didn't achieve the #1. Egg on their faces and shame on them. We can't assume she will have an 8th #1 in the future. Should have discounted 1 or 2 weeks ago. TBH >:(

I'm surprised she doesn't do better on streaming. I wonder if she'd get the 6 Teenage Dream #1s if streaming was part of the Hot 100 when the era started.

I just have a feeling it's this particular song that isn't strong in streaming. I'm sure "California Gurls," "Firework," and "E.T." would have been sure fire #1s on the On-Demand chart. "Teenage Dream" and "Last Friday Night" definitely would have gone top 3 in streaming. Not so sure about "The One That Got Away" and "Part of Me," though. "Part of Me" and "Last Friday Night" may not have gotten to #1 on the Hot 100 with the new formula. "Party Rock Anthem" no doubt would've been huge on streaming as well as "Rolling in the Deep," potenitally blocking both "Last Friday Night" and "Give Me Everything" from #1.

I think POM peaked at #16 on the On-Demand chart but I'm not sure if it was after its airplay peaked.

E.T. would've been a 10+ weeks at #1 type of song if streaming was included then.

^I'll actually agree on E.T. getting more weeks, but not 10. The S&M remix wouldn't have been able to overcome it. Born This Way would have definitely been suffering on streaming on that 6th week where the physical CD single kept it afloat, and E.T. would have gotten that extra week there too. I'm fairly certain Born This Way would have lost more weeks to Cee-Lo than Katy though. I also feel RITD would have been strong enough digitally to retain its weeks and the same tradeoff between the two songs would have happened. So just an extra 2 weeks at #1 for E.T.

Firework would've been more massive, too. I don't think Grenade would've been able to get to #1.

I think Bruno would have been huge on streaming.

I think it's silly to try to figure out what songs would be huge on streaming and what wouldn't. If a song was a hit, why would you assume it would flop on streaming? Makes no sense.
This seems to have stabilized on iTunes now. A little under 60% Not enough to get #1.

3 more updates, 7M gap. Katy stands a good shot. And yes, I'm talking about Mediabase.

But Mediabase doesn't have an official overall airplay chart? I've always just considered Wednesday to be the official day because of that. Even with that, Katy might stay #1. She lost a lot on pop today, but gained a lot on HAC and rhythmic too, somehow. Rhythmic is bipolar with her lately haha.

I personally consider Mondays to be official because I love "Manic Monday". In other words, there's no such thing as an official day for Mediabase overall airplay.

I've never considered Wednesday to be the official mediabase day. I've always gone by Sunday's, as that's when CHR becomes official.

hopefully this makes #1 just so it could piss the haters It won't. It finally somewhat caught up to Carly, but even that's just because Carly is falling. Katy gained next to nothing from the discount. I don't think Ellie is a threat, she's down to #11 on iTunes, but Flo Rida has a huge digital advantage. Then again, there is a slight chance, but I doubt it.

I'm looking for there to be some kind of cheap remix to get this to #1. But this song SOOOOOO deserves to be number 1, and not stall in the top 3 positions for various weeks. It was #1 digitally, #1 radio, and deserves to be #1 on the HOt 100. Streaming is really killing this song. NOW is the time to strike, or next Tuesday, if they're tryin' to get her another #1 to end the era.

on the other hand, if there is no "official" Mediabase airplay chart, then there is no official day, which means ANY day counts for the peak of the song. Therefore, Wide Awake is a #1. Doesn't matter which day since it got there.
how many #1's does she have on Mediabase overall?
