Of all her songs that could go back and get another week at #1, this would be one of my top picks. Well deserved and SO GLAD this was the single over Dressing Up.

The One That Got Away is one of the best songs and her best videos to date.
Seriously that shit makes me cry everytime I see it.
She came from a place of honesty, genuine happiness, heartbrake and everything inbetween. She felt real and delivered a pop record wish great quality and craftsmenship. People responded. She has a warmth to her that I do like. I'm no huge fan but she has delievered with this record.
I just wish ehr outfits were les bubblegum and a little more refined. I'd rather TD or TOTGA over CG.

Wide Awake easily places 6th far ahead of Part of Me and The One That Got Away in terms of rankings. For impact, I'd even say it's 5th (ahead of Teenage Dream). The movie is over, but the album continues to sell very well, even on a WW scale. In the low 20's on BB200 and #19 WW. I knew this album was going to sell for a very long time. Tremendous longevity.

I think "Wide Awake" will outsell "Last Friday Night" in the long run, at that point I'd consider it a bigger hit. LFN would've been a #2 peaker like WA if it weren't for the remix anyhow. And let's be honest here, "Call Me Maybe" was much bigger competition than "Party Rock Anthem". WA already out peaked it on AC, sitting at #10 currently. Last Friday Night got #1 with the help of the same 0.69 cent discount this had, but it was a 5th single while this is technically a second. 2 million more people have it from Teenage Dream, while only 300k have this from TCC. Party Rock Anthem was bigger. It was getting more weekly points than Call Me Maybe.

The following is the most recent sales information for the TD singles. Good information to take into account for your rankings. California Gurls (feat. Snoop Dogg) - 5 million+ Teenage Dream - 4 million+ Firework - 5.7 million+ E.T. (feat. Kanye West) - 5.2 million+ Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) - 3 million+ The One That Got Away - 2 million+ Part of Me - 2.3 million Wide Awake - 2 million+ Almost 30 million sales in singles from one era. Teenage Dream has pretty massive sales for 'only' spending two weeks atop Hot 100. Also, I think the last time one of Katy's singles sold 300k+ in one week was with E.T. so there is definitely a downward spiral happening in sales. It's good that she's going to take a break now so the next lead single can explode on every format (if it's any good). That said, I wish this album would keep selling consistently like this, it deserves so much more sales.

'Firework' and 'Teenage Dream' will probably wind up being the "cherished" records of the album. As big as E.T. was it will probably wind up being, while a significant hit, less remembered and revered as the two mentioned.
Sort of like how 'Always Be My Baby' ('Teenage Dream') is regarded as a beloved record while 'One Sweet Day' ('E.T.') while beloved just isn't as remembered and loved in the same way as ABMB is, even if OSD was the bigger record.

yea, but define "remembered"?
sometimes i think the ones that will last the longest will be the ones that performed the strongest on Hot AC. The "made for CHR" songs like California Gurls, E.T., and Last Friday Night will fade over time. I bet the "made for Hot AC" songs Firework, Teenage Dream, The One That Got Away, and Wide Awake will be "remembered" longer. Part of Me is a toss-up. I still hear it a lot.

I think "California Gurls" will definitely be remembered as a summer classic, and I do think HAC will spin it regularly (in the summertime, at least). I don't really see "Last Friday Night" being forgotten or anything, but I doubt it will be comparable to any of the first three singles. I truly expect "E.T." to be a forgotten hit. I don't see "The One That Got Away" and "Wide Awake" being remembered more. Just because they may be more in line with HAC playlists doesn't mean that people will remember them better. The only Britney song I hear on my station that could pass for a HAC is "Everytime". It doesn't mean that it's her most remembered song, it just means that they decided it fits in best with their playlist (surprisingly). "California Gurls" will actually be remembered well with or without recurrent play, I think, but I expect "The One That Got Away" to be forgotten, and possibly "Wide Awake" as well. I hear "Part Of Me" a lot as well, but it doesn't seem like a song that will hold up to me. It's a generic rehash of her previous hits and it wasn't as big as any of them.

I don't see Last Friday Night anywhere. E.T. as a 4th single, is played more than the later 5th single.

FYI, "Wide Awake" has a chance to back into the top spot again tomorrow as "Lights" is now losing spins at a faster rate than "Wide Awake", and with less than 100 spins seperating the two songs:
lw TW Artist Title TW lw Move Aud
1 1 ELLIE GOULDING Lights 13444 13977 -533 99.939
2 2 KATY PERRY Wide Awake 13346 13867 -521 92.222
4 3 DAVID GUETTA Titanium f/Sia 11087 10657 430 77.635
Both songs are well ahead of David Guetta and Sia, but they have a chance of overtaking both songs next week. It will be really close tomorrow as to who claims the top spot.
"Wide Awake" would be the first song since "The Way I Are" by Timbaland and Keri Hilson in October of 2007 to have nonconsecutive weeks at the top if Katy returns to the top spot tomorrow. "The Way I Are" spent four straight weeks at the top of the Mediabase CHR chart through September of 2007, dropped to #2 behind Pink's "Who Knew" for one week the first week of October, then returned to the top for two more weeks afterwards. So that doesn't happen too often, though I remember one instance back in the 1983 on the Hot 100 chart when Men At Work's "Down Under" spent three straight weeks at the top, and one additional week at the top after one week at #2.

Katy might be #1 at the official update. Sometimes the numbers are exactly the same, sometimes they've changed just a little bit.

It was the Saturday update that tripped up the #1 re-take this week, Katy was still 100 spins out as of yesterday. There's nothing standing in Katy's way next week though. ;)

I hear "Wide Awake" ALL the time on the local pop and Hot AC/AC stations. The other day it was on two at the same time.
I know it hasn't been as big as some of the other singles on a wide scale basis but this seems just as big as "E.T.", "Firework" from my perspective... of course long term success, re-current play, iTunes success six months from now will dictate that but for now it seems like it.

If this was played one more time on OHP last night, or "Lights" was played one less time, this would be #1 right now.

E.T. only had one American Idol performance and, if I remember correctly, sold over 300k three weeks in a row.
