Well? ???
This was her second single in Canada. Not sure if it will be released next in the US or if they'll release a duet with Bieber or something, though.
It's a catchy song and is doing well here.

Maybe? I could see her becoming a Leona Lewis/Jay Sean/Vanessa Carlton where she technically acquires a second hit or even third hit, albeit not large enough to overtake being the "Call Me Maybe" girl.

The most obvious option is one-hit wonder; it's written all over her. However, I'd actually like to see her have continued success.

I think she will be, but maybe like a Leona Lewis one-hit wonder, in that she'll have one huge single, and because of that the follow-up will do well, but not anything that people will remember in a few years.

Unless she gets her face and name out there, then she will be. Right now, people only know the song. They don't know her. Very, very similar to "Domino."

That's a really good comparison for her US comparison. At least Jessie J has an interesting enough image that listeners who take the time to look her up with want to hear more of her music. Carly doesn't have that. She's just the song, and nothing more.

I'm leaning more towards 'One Hit Wonder' than anything else rn. At best, I can see her having a few more minor hits from this album, or maybe even a second record, but I agree with the Leona Lewis comparisons.

One hit wonder: Unlikely One album wonder: Likely imho, BUT she does have Bieber's management behind her so she could see continued success beyond one album.

I honestly see a one-hit wonder in this young girl. In fact, we'll most likely see a return of this trend this decade, which I find to be a smidgen disturbing.

The odds are stacked against her if we're talking about her rivaling the success of 'Call Me Maybe' in the future. That said, I hope she'll continue to elicit strong reactions from people for decades to come.

One can only hope.
For now, though, I'll say no.

If "Curiosity" were released in the US, then she probably would be. However, they already have her in the studio retooling the album that I assume is coming stateside with the guy who worked on her debut album and wrote "Call Me Maybe." I'm excited where that project goes, and I could definitely see a Leona-like status following. Where she goes from there though is unclear.

After some further musing, it dawned on me: after Capitol managed to milk the hell out of poker player Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

In a related query, is Jennifer Paige a one hit wonder or does she have another hit left in her??

Probably, but I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a top 20 follow-up.

well, she's very young, so we'll see what comes next. Then we'll make a decision.

I'm thinking one-hit wonder or possibly smaller hits that won't do nearly as well.

I now would like to change my prediction to at least one album wonder. Though, like I said in the "This Kiss" thread, I think she's going to become that next big pop star.

It's definitely too early to say one album wonder vs 2+ good albums, but she's going to have a great era.
