Key word is "ambition" , she is a fat cat at this point and is going to release whatever the hell she wants unless she still has that drive for success other than just making music, in the past 2 or 3 years the press, music insiders and artists have given her so much love and she has been stamped as a legend without a shadow of a doubt, plus she has her husband and kids now, her life seems complete, she isnt chasing success or looking for redemption or solidifying her spot in music anymore . I know ppl keep saying Mariah craves commercial success and is willing to do anything for it, i always found that to be a tad false, record label craves that , i cant think of many instance that Mariah made music that wasnt her other than at the start when Tommy forced it and even then her pop songs had R&B elements, if she was ONLY commerical driven we would have seen her change her styles many many times over in her caree, as music is ever evolving, she has pretty much stayed true to her sound since her demo days in the late 80's.

I still wish they would've released the Vintage Remix for Triumphant to pop radio and seen how that went. Especially since the album is coming out at earliest Spring 2013. Even if it flopped horrifically, no one would have remembered by the time the album came out.

Even if it flopped horrifically, no one would have remembered by the time the album came out. It was wise not to. Urban and rhythmic radio still give Mariah singles post-flop test spins at the very least. For example, the AA singles were tested on most Urban stations...H.A.T.E.U. was even given a shot by some of the biggest markets (NY, LA). The Pop panel won't think twice. Bye Bye was far from her biggest Pop flop, but even after that, the much more radio-friendly IBLULT hardly did anything.

Oh man...laughing so hard from your first sentence entire post I can barely type. Exhibit A: Exhibit B: By the way, almost all of Memoirs was more radio-friendly than this. And best of all, Exhibit C: Memoirs was a really solid album -- vocal delivery was poor, but the songwriting was excellent. WOT.

Oh man...laughing so hard from your first sentence I can barely type. She is a fat cat at this point! Hahaha. So true, though. Some of the video shots...I was just watching them in disbelief. I can't tell whether ring girl outfit it more appalling than the photoshopping itself. It really is silly, though. She gets to be fat and look hot in her videos, spend time with her kids and dogs and get drunk at award shows. She's kind a mess, but I'm happy that she's a mom. I hope she's been having a blast this summer. There's nothing I'd like more than a happy Mariah album. Honestly, I don't think she's done s**t for this album -- thre might be a few tracks that can be finished or salvaged, but I'm ok with that. I just hope she gets excited about it again. I haven't seen Mariah truly being excited about her music since TEOM and the beginning of E=MC2. I miss that. I want her to have something to be excited about, not nervous about. Like why is she ever performing Triumphant? She might as well do Dreamlover or Hero. or god forbid Fantasy. By the way, almost all of Memoirs was more radio-friendly than this. Just saying. I think it's hysterical that people on UKMix are saying this is better than anything on Memoirs and E. I really don't get it. E was a great album -- b last -- a classier Rainbow. Memoirs was a really solid album -- vocal delivery was poor, but the songwriting was excellent. I'm ready for happy, bubbly Mariah's return. No ballads, please. Thank GOD we are not subjected to your posts at FOMM anymore. Every post in this thread you've made has been negative. I think everyone gets that u don't like the single, or even Mariah at this point.

Why invest your time in an artist you hate? If you love a particular artist, then frustration is much more understandable. If I didn't like Mariah, I wouldn't even open the thread. I guess since I haven't been posting in her threads here since like 2008, I'll refrain from all comments regarding the single.
For the record, I was laughing. I agree with everything she said. I have no idea what's going on at the end...must've been when the ambien kicked in.

Her single was bad this time around so it's not hard to find fault with her right now. I for one was unimpressed with the video. Mariah has done the same video before. I think she needs an image makeover right now. She's 42 years old and selling her self has having a sexy body and all is getting a bit tired. I would like to see more creativity in her videos rather than having her attempt to ooze sex appeal all the time. It doesn't suit a 42 year old mother of 2. I hope that she'll listen to the criticism and give us a better performance when the album is set to drop next year.

I think what's she's been selling for a long time is confidence. A new type of confidence that she only found in her earlier career through her voice and No. 1's.

Disliking a song or something she is not doing and voicing that is not the same as calling her fat, or saying she has no dignity. It's not something you'd expect to hear from a fan. And saying 'Honestly, I don't think she's done s**t for this album' is nonsense coming from someone that claimed #MCSummer2012 was 'Save The Day' with 3 different versions and featured artists.

I know it's bad to make fun of children, but those babies got some serious five-heads.

It's really Roc, which I have mentioned before. It's a bit distracting but he's a cute baby.

Mariah's former manager Chris Lighty has committed suicide. His poor family. Didn't he have a son? This is awful.

Mariah asked on twitter today what she should perform for her NFL set list.
I wonder if she's even considering her current single. pleeeeaaaase no Shake It Off and Obsessed. This is going to be a weird performance, I think.

It'd be silly if she didn't perform her current single, but if they let her do multiple songs I say break out a classic or two like "Always Be My Baby" or "Fantasy."

"Shake It Off," oddly enough, kind of worked (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8CM2giWSvE), but yeah -- enough is enough. "Fantasy" would be great.

If its anything like her DFAU Thanksgiving day performance then pass, but the promo for her performance is Truimphant so she will be performing that clearly, but id rather she perform her uptempo tracks nobody in the stadium wants SIO.
