This has an add date of January 12th. Thankfully it looks like Sony scrapped "Come Back To Bed".

This has an add date of January 12th. Thankfully it looks like Sony scrapped "Come Back To Bed". Good move, and quite a good save! "Clarity" will at least do very well on Triple A, and get limited attention on Hot AC. Though it isn't exactly an up-tempo track, it does have a hook and it is a fan favorite among John Mayer fans everywhere. "Come Back To Bed" was a mistake to consider because the track had a long duration and a very slow tempo (60 BPM). It probably wouldn't have even gone Top 5 on Triple A because of that. Still, I think if they edited "Something's Missing" for duration or released "New Deep", they would fare really well on Triple A also. John Mayer may have limited Hot AC success from here on out, but I don't think he'll ever impact the chart heavily with anything else off this album, perhaps on every album he releases from now on. Triple A will be his haven like Jack Johnson and Pete Yorn. Predicted Peaks: Triple A: #1Hot AC: #22Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This one will take off around February at pop, watch. It takes a while to get used to - then it's stuck in your head all the time.

It's kind of boring to me right now. It seems to me like the follow-ups to his first [stellar] singles are always boring.

I'm so glad they scrapped "Come Back to Bed." As usual with John Mayer, the lyrics make no sense but at least this song sounds good & a bit elevator-ish. I could see some stations trying to pass this off as smooth jazz...

Just heard Clarity today for the first time on my station so I searched for this thread. First impression is ... yawn. Doesn't do it for me. But, sometimes I know songs need to grow on you, so I'll be curious to see how I feel about it in a month.

I really like this one! It's much better than 'Bigger Than My Body'. But why does he have to mention "body" in so many of his songs? (3 of his 5 releases so far). It's like he's showing off the fact that girls love him or something. I should edit that word out of the song. hahaha!

This one's taking off now. Up ten spots to #20 with a bullet of +532.

I have to agree with Northcoast. I heard the song for the first time Monday and it was boring. However, I thought that about No Doubt's cover song at first and I really like it now. I think what it boils down for me with Mayer is that I just don't like his voice. Too breezy with very little passion/strength. I like a male singer to be able to belt something out when the song calls for it. I also think this about Jack Johnson. Just not my thing.

This one's taking off now. Up ten spots to #20 with a bullet of +532. Strong start, but I think it's going to disintegrate quickly just like "Grey Street" from the Dave Matthews Band did. I don't think this is going Top 10. It has surpassed my original peak of #22 but I don't see this going beyond #13. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I'll say #9, same peak as "Why Georgia".

I'm starting to like this. It's my third favorite single of his.

It's another great song from Mr. Mayer. It reminds me a bit of Norah Jones.
Anyway, who produced his last album? Bigger Than My Body has amazing production and this is very nice too. Does anyway know? Was it John Alagia?

I am finally getting to listen to this song. I am not too impressed. It is certainly not as good as BTMB. I don't like this song at all. I am glad I didn't buy his new cd.

Clarity > Bigger than my Body by far.
I like it. I don't know how much more it can go, but I think it'll probably just miss the top 5. #6.

I love the horns in this song. They don't stand out or force themselves out among the rest of the music but are just casually laid in there, like the horns in Natalie Merchant's 'Break Your Heart'.

I don't think this is going Top 10. It has surpassed my original peak of #22 but I don't see this going beyond #13. Looks like you'll be pretty close to the mark. It should move up to #12 this week, but probably unbulleted.

Does anyway know? Was it John Alagia? Fabio Just listened to this whole CD.Β It was produced & mixed by Jack Joseph Puig.Β I like Something's Missing better than Clarity, myself.Β Also, like the lyrics to Home Life.Β They really give you a window into his inner longing for a normal life.Β Very interesting.Β It made me look at him in a whole new light.Β Good album all in all.Β But definitely a more laid back vibe.Β Feel a little ripped off because there are only ten tracks on the CD though.Β
