I'm a little surprised by this. It's R&B but it's a cover of the White Stripes. I'm surprised it's going to Triple A and not Urban AC.

While it's not a monitored Alternative, WOXY is playing "Fell In Love With A Boy", and I guess it makes sense because she's alternative R&B, although less rock-edged than Res.
I am amazed at how a girl my age can sing so good. This shows that there actually is some talent from teen artists, although you'd never know that if you only heard her songs.

OMG, she doesn't sound British in the slightest.
This is awesome. I loved the original, but this is just as incredible.

Sorry I didn't dig deeply enough to find this before creating a new thread. My bad.
I won't repeat my comments except to say that I really like this and to ask if anyone knows of any other covers of White Stripes songs. This is the only one I can remember hearing.

I listened to this song last week and fell in love. This song could do well on Triple A, but I could see it do much better on maybe Urban AC.
Maybe it'd get novelty play on Alternative because of the whole White Stripes thing, but probably not.
There's a cover of sorts of Seven Nation Army. It's an electronica version by Adam Freeland. Other than that, ???

I bought Joss's cd last week and I was not impressed at all. This song is probably the only "hit" she has on the whole cd. I don't know why people are making such a big deal out of this. Especially since her cd is a cd of cover songs. It's not even her own material

Black music is despised here? Since when and what's black music?

This song is pretty good, but quite honestly it's one of my least favorites on the CD. I think the only reason they're pushing this is because everyone will recognize it. It doesn't showcase her voice nearly as much as some of the other songs, like "Super Duper Love."
The focus on this CD is her voice, not the songs themselves -- which is why she has nothing to do with the songs besides the singing.

Do you think this song is like a precious jewel floating in a sea of sewage? Do you not like anything by Joss Stone? I'm not asking this to give you a hard time, but because I was considering buying this myself. If you don't like FILWAB I might think that Joss just doesn't run to your taste. But if you really like that one song then I think I'd be less likely to buy the album. I might still see if the single is available. I really do love this song. Like so much of the Stripes' music, this takes me back decades. It reminds me of the early Pointer Sisters. This is the kind of soul I grew up on. I get your point, but I don't always fault artists for doing covers. Most don't do their own material anyway.

I get your point, but I don't always fault artists for doing covers. Most don't do their own material anyway. I really don't fault Joss for making a cd of covers. Of course Mandy did one last year and it was a really good cd. But Mandy has proven herself atleast to me before. I had never heard anything from Joss before this. I would've wanted to produce a cd of my own music before I put out a cover album out. Does that make sense?? I have been trying to get into this cd for a week now and I guess I was a little harsh in my first review. "Fell In Love With A Boy" is the best song on the cd , but I have found some other gems that I overlooked. "Super Duper Love" is a pretty good song and "The Chokin Kind" isn't bad at all either. Her version of "Some Kind Of Wonderful" is horrible. I have never heard a worse version. I guess I would recommand it to you if you like her vioce and her style of music. I had never heard her before I bought the cd. Joss Stone - "The Soul Session" 1: "The Chokin Kind" B 2: "Super Duper Lover (Are You Diggin On Me?) Pt 1" A- 3: "Fell In Love With A Boy" A- 4: "Victim Of A Foolish Heart" B 5: Dirty Man D 6: "Some Kind Of Wonderful" D- 7: "I've Fallen In Love With You" B 8: " I Had A Dream" C- 9: "All The Kings Horses" C 10: "For The Love Of You Pt 1&2" C- Overall Grade: 82.8 (C+) I guess I really don't like the tracks with her vioce and very little background instruments like IHAD.

I agree. Her version of "Some Kind Of Wonderful" was painful to sit through. I'm not a big fan of her Isleys cover either.

I just bought this cd through a music service (BMG) for $2.99. :o I've heard good things about her (well, not from this board anyway lol), so, I decided I'd give her a try. And, if I end up not liking it, it's not like I put a major investment into it to be disappointed.

I listened to Some Kind of Wonderful at work. Didn't realize who it was until it clicked in my head. It was ok. It's certainly not Fell in Love With a Boy, but it's not THAT bad.
