AAA add date: February 23rd
Without hearing this yet, how does it compare to his first two singles?

This is nowhere near the quality of the first two.

It's a really cool song. It's fun, it's funny and it's diferent. I like it more than The Remedy, it's more creative.

It's finally official! I wonder if there'll be a remix or edit in anyway. I wasn't too fond of the song at first but now it's a great casual song. I think it'll be a big hit but one of those non-obvious kinda big hits? It's hard to explain and no one might not understand it but the kind that don't get high on the chart but everyone knows anyway?

This is a pretty bad choice for single.
It is radio-friendly, but not in every instance when a single is radio-friendly makes it a good single. This is an autobiographical song about Mraz's own rise to fame, filled with countless tongue-in-cheek punch lines. Much of his older audience are not going to take him seriously here hearing parts like the "Elsa the dog" and "What's up with M-R-A-Z?" thingamajig. When you tune into Hot AC and may hear it, it fits in there, but on Triple A, it sounds like you're hearing country fried hip-hop.
It may hit, but he would have got an even bigger hit releasing "On Love, In Sadness", the second most radio-friendly song off the album.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This is a perfect example of why this is the stupidest CD of last year.

This is a perfect example of why this is the stupidest CD of last year. Which you have endlessly pointed out in every discussion that involved Jason Mraz so I think most people know how you feel on the topic.
'On Love, In Sadness' is a definate smash waiting to happen but I don't see it as an obvious choice for radio release like 'Curbside Prophet'. People would probably latch on to 'CP' easier and quicker than 'OLIS'. I really hope they do go 4 singles deep with the CD, at least. OLIS deserves a chance!

I didn't "endlessly" mention this song specifically, but even if I would have, this topic is still on "Curbside Prophet" so aren't I allowed to state what I think of it?

Ok, ok. Jason wanted to release Curbside Prophet because it's the song that he feels the audience really like when he plays it live. It's an instantly likeable song. I don't think Triple A will have a problem with it. They might like to have a fun song on their playlists.
Anyway, I hope this catches on, but I don't really know. And I think On Love, In Sadness would flop.
Oh, the video will be a live performance from a DVD he'll be releasing in Feb/March.

I didn't "endlessly" mention this song specifically, but even if I would have, this topic is still on "Curbside Prophet" so aren't I allowed to state what I think of it? I thought about what I said afterward and I take it back because you're free to post your opinions on whomever whatever they may be. I realized that I kinda sounded like a Christina fan there for a bit. Sorry.
I think 'On Love, In Sadness' would probably flop too, to be honest with you. It's a great song and people would probably love it but it's not that radio friendly. It has smash potential but it's not really obvious. I think at this point 'Curbside Prophet' is his best choice to release.
Is it true that this'll be the final single from the CD? Is there a planned CD out before the year's end or is it just the DVD? Personally, I think Jason is just getting started and he's really only had one major hit from the album and people are still just discovering him while single #2 is taking off finally in other formats. It would be too soon to call it a day on the album as a while.
BTW, what are the plans for the DVD? Is it just a concert or will there be a CD with it?

Curbside Prophet was inspired by the rap style of Jurassic 5. I love Jason but personally I think this song is annoying. It just doesn't work for me when he "raps" cause he's too aware of making it cute and clever.. Just my opinion, of course. Excerpts from MTV.com article dated 12/29/03: Mraz has pre-production scheduled in January before an overseas tour in February. By spring he hopes to be recording the follow-up to Waiting for My Rocket to Come for release in the fall.
Before Mraz releases his second major-label studio album, he'll tide fans over with a still-untitled live album and DVD recorded at a recent show in Milwaukee.
"John Popper from Blues Traveler stopped by to blow his horn, and we had the Ohio Players horn section actually blow their horns. The kids jumping up and down. It was a great, great time."
Rather than release a third single from Waiting for My Rocket to Come, Mraz will follow-up "You and I Both" with the live version of "Curbside Prophet" featuring Popper.
Mraz, who shows off his dancing chops in his latest video is thinking of releasing the "Curbside Prophet" performance from the DVD as the video.
"It looks good, and John looks great, and everybody looks great, and there's a lot of girls in the audience, and girls are great in videos, right?" he said. "So there's that going for us."
A track list has yet to be finalized, but Mraz said to expect some older and newer material not on Waiting for My Rocket to Come.

He changes the lyrics on the live version, I think. I have a version that he performed about a year ago and he freestyles instead of verse 2, I think.
