I'm moving this to Hot AC.
I really like Melissa Etheridge. We should hear this within the next couple of weeks.

If you have heard "Breathe" by Greenwheel, you ought to have an idea what this sounds like. . .it is a cover of that song.

I imagine she will pull off an incredible cover of that song.

Melissa Etheridge probably won't impact the chart in a huge way with this, nevertheless it is great to hear her voice on the airwaves in almost any circumstance.
I thought her lead-single from her last album Skin, "I Wanna Be In Love" would be a huge hit, but it only managed a brief Top 20 appearance.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Okay, I just heard the song, and I like it! She kind of sounds like a male at some parts, but anyway, it's good! Not her best, but it will porbably grow on me more.

This is very good. Her material is as radio friendly as it ever was, but this probably won't explode.

Yes, this "new" Melissa song IS a cover of the St.Louis band Greenwheels "Breathe". Please Do NOT give Melissa credit for this, as it's not her writing or HER piece of work! I personally KNOW and have met Greenwheel also! The song is on Greenwheels cd titled "Soma Holiday" if anyone is interested or you can check them out at www.islandrecords.com/greenwheel/ . Also, is it a new..trend for female artists to cover male artists songs? How about Faith Hill covering Angie Aparo's "Cry"? I think I may be onto something!

This is really good, I agree that her voice does sound like a man at times. Is this her new single?

Her material is as radio friendly as it ever was, but this probably won't explode. This is not her material. Does everyone not realize who are the "masterminds" behind this song? The St.Louis rock band Greenwheel! Don't ignore them, and do give them the credit that they really do deserve!

Please Do NOT give Melissa credit for this, as it's not her writing or HER piece of work! It is her voice, though. We shouldn't give her credit for that? Anyway, whoever the songwriter is will get royalties if Melissa's version becomes a hit, so whatever.

whoever the songwriter is Well...I hope the REAL band Greenwheel, writers of this song, become a "frontburner" band now, because of this. I don't even give Faith Hill the time of day for most of her songs, as they're ALL songs written and sung by another artist. I like the artists that actually write the songs, these other artists "steal" songs from. Ignorance is not an answer!

(Last time I checked, Melissa is a REAL artist as well, whether she's singing a song she wrote or not. It's up to the public to decide whose version they like better.)

I take it you're not a fan of Greenwheel, and don't like them, and are bias for Melissa!

Okay, that's enough. Seriously. This says "MELISSA ETHERIDGE" in the topic title.

That has no bearing on my standpoint that Melissa is a "real" artist also, whether she sings a song she wrote herself or chooses to cover someone else's material. That's all I'm getting at. Truce?

Don't bother arguing with crazyfun1. It won't work any better than arguing with radiosucks.

The main reason this song does not sound right for Melissa to sing. It was written by Ryan(singer of Greenwheel) for his former girlfriend.
Also...the only GOOD thing to come from this, is that this small band, signed to the same label as U2, from St.Charles MO, will now have a LOT more $ from ROYALTIES due to the songs success, IF it is successful! In that case, the more $, the better there next album MAY be.
Not trying to argue. Some songs just don't sound right, when someone of the opposite sex sings them, and it was a male/female singing them to begin with.

Well I'm sure Melissa has the same sexual intentions as Ryan. ;) I really don't see why you think Melissa is even a threat. It's not like she's topping the charts these days.

I loved Greenwheel's version (hit #1 on my chart in the summer of 2002). I like this one too.

Actually
A lot of dj's I hear are now acknowleding the fact that this is NOT Melissa's song, but infact a song Greenwheel originally wrote and sang.
Melissa is using this song to "sell-out" and to make sure her career isn't over. So sad...

crazyfun1 is so funny!
I think Melissa is hoping she can have a 'Big Yellow Taxi' of her own... except by covering a song that wasn't a big mainstream hit. It's working so far.

Melissa sold out for covering a flop?
