The Goo Goo Dolls have often gotten a lot of slack for sounding too much like their previous songs - I remember when people said "Slide" just sounded like a sped-up version of "Name" This song IMO gets better w/ every listen - I'm really hoping it hits Top 3 on Hot AC so CHRs will give the GGD another chance I hope so too...it deserves to go #1 in my opinion, but with Matchbox Twenty and Daughtry I don't see it happening. I really hope it goes top 3, or at least top 5. Of all the songs I've been into recently, THIS HAS THE LEAST BURN, no burn at all actually, and gets better with every listen like you always say. Could be #1 on my personal chart for a long time. It's top 15 now, with a bigger bullet. 17 15 GOO GOO DOLLS Before It's Too Late... 2007 Warner Bros. 1370 1219 151 6.170 I can only hope that P!nk's bullet drops soon. Pop should be all over THIS SONG, but I guess it'll have to be huge here first for that to happen.

"Who Knew" is also a good song, but I think "Before It's Too Late" is better. This deserves at least top 10. Unfortunately, it looks like it might be a top 10 miss for the Goo Goo Dolls, which hasn't happened since 2002-03?

The only singles to miss the top 10 for the Goo Goo Dolls on Hot AC (that made the top 40) were "Sympathy" and "Big Machine".
Hot AC Guru clarified this back at the beginning of the thread. It'll be utterly pitiful that a song about punching people in thier mouths actually charts higher than an awesome Goo Goo Dolls song on Hot AC.

I think both of those songs managed to hit #10 on Billboard and got stuck at #11 on R&R. So, in some ways, it's been much longer than that. In any case, I am shocked to see this miss. I really don't like the song but they had a 200+ bullet a couple days ago. I have been completely shocked by this collapse. Oh well.

Yeah, but Bon Jovi is -128 today. So if "Before It's too Late" can at least have SOME kind of bullet for the rest of the week, it'll be top ten. :)
I hope its bullet can come back fully, though.

This song needs to make the Top 5 HAC or CHR won't play it!! It's gettin shafted and kept in low rotation by the bands's own core HAC stations!! It's only up 6 points this week :(
I could always hope for an Augustana-type thing (a whole bunch of CHRs end up playin it more than the HACs in their markets did, just much later on)

I think she is too. I think the fact that she is just shows you how stupid Hot AC is getting lately.

I think Pink is gonna have one of the biggest hits of the year...her song seems to have very little burn - I also think she's gonna hold off Daughtry As far as the Goo Goo Dolls, I guess radio's gettin too tired of all their songs sounding so similar...IMO they've gotta do somethin VERY different on their next CD or even Hot AC will start givin up on them - unless they do some serious promotion with this song on CHR

It this close to a record? 13 19 GOO GOO DOLLS Before It's Too Late... 2007 Warner Bros. 1163 1691 -528 5.808 Not quite, but it is still a painful, well-above-average plunge for a single at any given point on this format. "Landslide" by the Dixie Chicks I believe still holds the record for greatest weekly decline in spins on this format (only because of the so-called "incident") Also, Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" just plunged with a similar number at one point. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Sincerely, Noah Eaton I don't think "Rehab" fell much more than -400. Do you have any idea how big the Dixie Chicks plunged? And I don't know that the "incident" was, hahah.

I wonder if they're waitin til then to push this song at CHR - it might be just wishful thinkin but I'm still wondering why this song was never pushed at CHR at all...even the 50 or so CHR stations that played "Let Love In" and "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas didn't even touch this song (with the exception of 2-3 stations I think)

I also read that a Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 will be released early next year, which will include new songs, covers, remixes, rarities, etc. Rumor has it that a career-spanning collection is also in the works, which is what they should just release in the first place.

They've sort of already released a retrospective however, with "What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce" back in 2001. Granted it is almost entirely absent of single releases, and only covers the earlier, pre-commerical length of their career to date, but nonetheless spans their most popular fan favorites over eleven years, from their formation and self-titled debut in 1987 to their non-single favorites from "Dizzy Up The Girl" in 1998. The greatest hits collections are certainly a long-awaited necessity, but I think they should wait after at least a couple more albums to go ahead with an updated career retrospective. Sincerely, Noah Eaton
