^ That's bad. I wanted them to be No.1 for at least 8 weeks.

^ LOL, you really hate "Hey There Delilah", don't you?!? I mean, it's not the best, but anything other than FERGIE lol! Yeah, this song is so annoying and its popularity came out of nowhere for some reason. But apparently everyone else thinks its a good song. It's funny cause I thought that this was going to dominate the chart for a while like "Home" did, but it peaked way faster than I expected.

#1
4 1 FERGIE Big Girls Don't Cry ... 2006 Will.I.Am/A&M/Interscope 3498 3290 208 17.864
Daughtry was shown as a 4-1 jump to #1 with "Home", but it was counted as a 3-1 jump on Casey's countdown. I never remember a 4-1 jump to #1 on Hot AC.
This is going to be on the Hot AC chart for a LONG time.

Fergie's 4-1 move on this week's chart ties the biggest move to #1 in Hot AC history. The only other song to move 4-1 is "You Gotta Be" by Des'ree, which made the move in late January, 1995.

^ Thanks for the info! I've been wondering. Hopefully Daughtry makes a 5-1 leap up with "Over You". BTW, I love that song "You Gotta Be".

Does this mean that Fergie might become a core artist on Hot AC; or will she suffer the same fate that artists like Des'ree, Ricky Martin, Enya, or Gnarls Barkley did at this format? That is - have 1 big #1 hit, and seldom or never be heard on Hot AC again? ???

Well, considering the type of music Fergie usually does, both in BEP and solo, I doubt she'll become a staple on Hot AC. Maybe whenever she releases a ballad but I'm betting she's more known for her upbeat songs like Fergilicious even though her ballads like Big Girls may have much more longevity.

Congrats Fergie! I am really surprised she managed a #1 over here, and probably at AC soon as well!

Congrats Fergie! I am really surprised she managed a #1 over here, and probably at AC soon as well! It's one of the few mass-appealing songs to be released lately. Huge hit on CHR, Hot AC, regular AC, and rhythmic. When was the last time a single song crossed over and had a high approval rate with teens as well as adults of all ethnic backgrounds?

I think it's gonna be happening again soon with "Who Knew" Not quite the crossover appeal as "Big Girls Don't Cry". I think "Who Knew" will have the biggest success at CHR and Hot AC; but regular AC hasn't been as receptive to it so far like they have to Fergie's song. Also, "Who Knew" is getting very little attention on the rhythmic CHR sector, but "Big Girls" did.

Good point IMO about rhythmic...that's pretty ridiculous I think that rhythmic won't play "Who Knew" - I think it shows that rhythmic and urban are almost essentially the same format - I wouldn't be surprised though if AC started pickin up "Who Knew" in a month or so just like it picked up "Behind These Hazel Eyes"

I see no difference between an urban/R&B station and a so-called rhythmic-CHR station these days. In the '90s there was a difference because rhythmic-CHRs picked up some pop and rock songs if they were huge hits. Yes - as slow as AC is, I wouldn't be surprised if that song got more adds and plays when it starts descending at Hot AC. If that happens, expect "Who Knew" to peak at AC sometime next year. >:( Back to "Big Girls Don't Cry" - it's an R&B ballad, and Fergie used to be a member of a hip-hop group. I'm pretty sure both of those factors helped this song do so well at the rhythmic stations.
