Do you guys think "Look After You" was a mistake? It's still getting a lot of recurrent airplay on Hot AC and Triple A (at least stations around me) - IMO it'll continue to be on recurrent playlists for a long time If "She Is" and "All At Once" would've been big hits, then wouldn't Triple A have been all over them? (AAA doesn't care about promotion, etc. - it just goes through the CD and plays the songs its listeners like the most) I personally like Look After You and liked it before it was released as a single. So I was glad when I first heard it was scheduled to be released, but after several listens I realized that it wasn't quite radio material. I think the band would have maintained a lot more momentum if AAO had been released third and She Is as the fourth single. For the sophomore release, I'd rather have an album full of All At Onces rather than Look After Yous, if that makes sense.

I think I understand what you're saying here; you'd prefer they put a little more rock or edge into their next release. Hey, it just might happen. Slade said that the Counting Crows are one of their primary musical influences, and when we reflect back on the discography of the Counting Crows, we see how they offered a particularly mellow, classic-rock sound on their debut record "August And Everything After", yet on their sophomore offering "Recovering The Satellites", it was much more alternative-sounding, with a much louder sound on most tracks, particularly "Angels Of The Silences", "Have You Seen Me Lately?", "Children In Bloom" and "Catapult". I'm guessing The Fray are not likely to move quite in that direction, LOL, but nevertheless, they can still surprise us the next time around, whether it's by adding more up-tempo numbers, implementing more guitar than piano, or even tossing some power-pop in there. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

For the sophomore release, I'd rather have an album full of All At Onces rather than Look After Yous, if that makes sense. Yeah, they have to get away from the "How To Save A Life-Look After You" slow whiney Counting Crows-style ballads if they want to last - BTW just realized after reading Noah's posting that the long dragging ending of "Look After You" reminds me a lot of "A Long December" and it's long dragging ending Counting Crows followed up "A Long December" with an upbeat country-sounding song, though "Daylight Fading" and then on their next CD a completely original sounding song "Hangin' Around" - IMO that's what the Fray's gotta do if they want to keep hitting CHR/Pop on their next CD and not just Hot AC (the Vertical Horizon syndrome :))

The Fray are one of my favorite bands, so I really hope this goes top 20.

At the above link, you can find video footage of the band playing the opening track of the former, louder CD of the two ("Saturday Nights") titled "Cowboys". It's really good! The former half of the double-album ("Saturday Nights") is actually produced by Gil Norton, who produced "Recovering The Satellites" also, obviously their most Alternative-sounding record of their catalog to date, while the latter half ("Sunday Mornings") is produced by Brian Deck, most known for producing Modest Mouse's critically-acclaimed major-label debut record "The Moon and Antarctica". Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Wait, you mean this song is nearly peaked?
Was this actually officially sent for adds? I haven't heard it on the radio here in Halifax and they played a lot of 'Over My Head' and 'How To Save A Life', which was added fairly late. They played a bit of 'Look After You' as well but not a lot. I like this one quite much more than the other. This should be a Top 10 hit.

A handful of Hot AC and some CHR stations have it in pretty high rotation - it's in the 20s on the CHR/HAC combo chart
Difference between this and previous singles is many HAC stations aren't touching it (at least not yet)

This is probably my favorite of the four singles they've put out. However, it seems like they skip a beat during the choruses. Before they say "Maybe you want her" the second time, they should've gone an extra beat. To be quite honest, it really pisses me off. I do think this should've been the third single. "How To Save A Life" was a bit of a downer and "Look After You" was a much bigger downer that really just dies after the second chorus. I didn't really understand the strategy there. I also don't understand why there was never a video for "Look After You" but they were quick to make one for this song. Whatever. I hope it goes top 20 but it doesn't look like it's going to.

I overplayed this song even before it became a single so now I can't even listen to it fully... :(
