So I guess there is a single from Sarah coming out despite what I said in the Best Of thread over in the Artist section. This is the new one from Sarah going for Hot AC adds August 25th. It's the first of two new songs from her Best Of compilation! Looking forward to it!

I don't like that she is now using Usher-like single titles. :(

I don't like that she is now using Usher-like single titles. :( That's the first thing I thought too. She doesn't need to go the low road. She has hundreds of thousands of loyal fans who aren't into the rhythmic-scene.

Yeah, because everyone knows Matchbox 20 sold out to the rap crowd when they released "Back 2 Good".

Yeah, because everyone knows Matchbox 20 sold out to the rap crowd when they released "Back 2 Good". But they made up for it when they changed over to Matchbox Twenty.

Yeah, because everyone knows Matchbox 20 sold out to the rap crowd when they released "Back 2 Good". How is that an Usher-like single title? And how many rap song titles were there in 1997, when the album came out, that had "U" and "4" in their titles?

I don't like that she is now using Usher-like single titles. :( It's just a title. Now if the content of the song is so unlike her, then I would be concerned.

I really like it, a lot more than her last leadoff single, "Fallen". It's gonna do well on AC, but I'm not sure how well it will do on Hot AC.

I really like this! I hope it does something.
Wish this was leading off a brand new album rather than a greatest hits, though.

I don't like that she is now using Usher-like single titles. :( Yeah lol...actually Prince prob. originated that whole thing (I Would Die 4 U, Take Me With U, Nothing Compares 2 U, etc.) - but IMO that was pretty funny when Usher came out with 3 straight singles from one CD that all began with "U"

wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/sarauwan.wmaI kinda like it. It's not much imediate as her past singles, it's a bit unmelodic I think. Anyway, as much as I love Sarah, I doubt this will do much for her.

This is alright. It may grow on me, but it's nothing like her previous singles, all of which were catchy.
I don't see this doing much at all. Maybe top 40 at Hot AC if she's lucky. I imagine the album having decent sales though, especially with it's release only 6-7 weeks before big holiday sales hit.

I thought this song was instantly catchy from the first few seconds into the first verse. I'm alittle surprised that you guys don't think so. But maybe it's because I'm glad to have a new single from her that I pretty well convinced myself that I'm going to like it regardless.
Either way, I think it'll do modestly on Hot AC (maybe Top 25 or so) but enough to give her Closer album a good first couple of weeks in sales. I think for me, it'll do well. I think it's a nice song. Typical Sarah but still pretty good!

The song grew on me a bit, but, as I said, it's not an imediate song. The lyrics seem a lot personal, which is always good.

On The Triple A chart, where the song has entered the Top 40, Mediabase is listing this song as "U Want Me 2 Don't U".

Billboard review:
U Want Me 2 SARAH McLACHLAN Producer(s): Pierre Marchand Label: Tyde/23579 Canada, SOCAN
One might think that after 20 years of melodic mastery, recently elusive Sarah McLachlan might be out of surprises. Best-of collection "Closer," due Oct. 7, proffers midtempo ballad "U Want Me 2," which delivers an identifiable vocal stamp and comfortably familiar production, a la "Building a Mystery." But the sheer sonic beauty of the track's melody at least equates previous hits, paving the way for McLachlan to re-establish as a radio staple. For all her quality output (and while nothing will surpass mod rock hit but top 40's missed 1993 "Possession"), "Want Me" is the best song she has issued this decade, a glorious return deserving adult radio reverenceβand beyond, alongside Leona Lewis and Natasha Bedingfield, a Grammy Award bid for best female pop performance. βChuck Taylor

I haven't heard it yet but I really do like Sarah. I'm glad to know that she is releasing a GH. I'll probably pick it up as I only have one of her albums.

I wonder how I'd rank this among my favourite Sarah songs? It's her third #1 for my on my The Max chart (after 'Ice Cream' and 'Fallen'). I think I like this about as much as I liked 'World On Fire' in its heyday. So in time, I'll burn out a little on this song but never completely like I never did with 'World On Fire'. So probably among my Top 5 favourite Sarah songs.
As of now, I'd say there's 'Terms', 'Adia', 'Possession', 'Building A Mystery', 'Fallen', 'World On Fire'. ...but not in that order and there are some songs missing.

I like the song but I can see myself tiring of it soon, so I can't say it would be one of her top 5 songs for me in the long run.

Gained a few more stations this week, but can't see this song going over #30, a peak of 15 would be nice. And album sells weren't so go either. Wish album would have been in top 10 1st week.
Building A Mystery, Poession, World On Fire my favorites.
