As much of a piece of crap this song is, I still prefer it over "Replay".

Oh come on, another one of these hip-hop crossovers? It's these same six or seven stations that have no business on the Hot AC panel that keep playing these songs.
These have to be moved out ASAP or they can single handedly wreck the format, or at the very least cause another split into some new genre.

The slow but sure destruction of Hot AC continues... I'll say it again that I don't mind a Black Eyed Peas or Lady Gaga song being played occasionally on the format as they do appeal to adult listeners. But there has to be some semblence of common sense as to what songs should be added to a Hot AC station and as to which ones shouldn't. There's a fine between Hot AC and CHR, but if the format is not to turn into the Canadian version where it's basically a mainstream CHR (some rap and hip-hop included), there has to be some reevaluation of those stations that don't belong on the Hot AC panel.

This song belongs on HAC as much as Michael Buble belongs on Urban radio.

Goes for adds in Hot AC on 18th January, according to Allaccess Time for a new format again lol,if this does something on hot ac when pearl jam, weezer, vertical horizon and sugar ray have trouble charting. it's time to make a new format, and not ac. just a hits station without urban hip hop rap. believe me there is a audience! now i'm ok with an occasional beyonce, mariah orblack eyed peas crossing over with mass appeal and lady gaga to me is pure pop as it gets like old madonna so she belongs here! how bout traditional top 40

Blind/Dancing W/Tears.../Hungover could be huge at this format. Tik Tok, not so much, I would think -- at least it shouldn't be.

Well, all radio formats are evolving. Hot AC is aimed toward a slightly older audience, like, 25-49? Something like that. We're used to Hot AC being light rock and stuff, like back in the 90s. But back then, adults aged 25-49 grow up mostly on light rock stuff as their mainstream since that's the type of music Pop used to play in the 70s and 80s. With mainstream music moving more toward rhythmic in the 90s, Hot AC is also doing so because that's what today's adult 25-49 want to hear.
Who knows? In 2018, Hot AC might be more rhythmic than CHR/Pop?

It was to be expected. If a song gets too high on pop it will automatically chart on HAC.

The reason I don't like this song: Her voice sounds like it's plastic coating over Lady Gaga's voice. The song sounds much too overprocessed. And, the lyrics are just..

As I'm sure almost anybody in the HotAC forum would expect me to say, I dig this track! It's just fun and bouncy and whatnot.

In 2018, Hot AC might be more rhythmic than CHR/Pop? Unfortunately, the Max is correct. Hot AC will continue to grow more rhythmic. Mediabase needs to adopt Billboard's naming convention and call this format "Adult Top 40", since it sounds nothing like "AC". The format's current evolution reminds me of the pop chart in the mid 90s when more rap and rhythmic titles were making it into the bottom reaches of the chart, but hadn't exploded into the top reaches yet. /rant on/ The problem for me as a listener is where do I go from here? to AC? I doubt it. AC is more like a wasteland for remnants of other formats rather than a coherent format like it used to be. I do enjoy listening to AC stations to hear all the older hits (70s/80s/90s), but I really don't get to hear much new music there. Eventually I will be pushed out of listening to current radio altogether I guess. /rant off/

The best of what gets played on HAC and some decent Alternative tracks tend to cross over, and a lot of actual adult-oriented songs that other formats don't play as they got more and more CHR-like also find a home there. It's about the only safe format left for current music.

Well, even AC is evolving I think. AC's audience is older than Hot AC as far as I remember, so as the target 35-54 (or whatever) moves from the generation that listened to AC in the 90s to the generation that listens to it in the 2010s, they grew up on 80s and early 90s music so we'll eventually be getting harder stuff with lighter rhythmic stuff. In 10 years, we'll probably be hearing songs as "hard" as 'Tik Tok' doing well.
So really light music will probably be relocated to specifically oldies stations, AM radio and smooth jazz.

This is the third most added song on Hot AC radio this week, including an add on WTMX in Chicago. Having just listened to the whole song for the first time, I'm shaking my head as to why this song is starting to gain some traction on this format. It sounds like a Disney Radio reject from Miley Cyrus!
My feeling is even if a lot of stations add it, I don't think many will be placing it into heavy rotation as this song is probably no more than one-quarter as appealing as any of Lady Gaga's big hits from last year. Hopefully this song will disappear from the Hot AC charts by the beginning of spring!

I think demographics are changing as well. Older people these days are more younger than ever. With the recession, older children are spending more time at home and just not growing up as quickly as they used to. Newer technology at a quicker pace is forcing older people to have a younger state of mind (smartphones, text messaging, high-speed Internet).
More and more of the younger adult demographic (25-49) are expanding their horizons, becoming more liberal with their music tastes, and are simply not growing up as quickly. The music they are listening to totally reflects that, and it will probably never go back.

It sounds like a Disney Radio reject from Miley Cyrus! ??? This song is? Okay, maybe it's not as bad a your typical Disney Radio song. But I still don't quite get the appeal of it as the bigger mainstream crossover hits by Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas last year were IMO much more appealing to adult listeners than this one is. Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but I'm not quite "getting it" with this song. Maybe that will change with time though.
