This is now Top 50 in Triple A!
49 46 PHOENIX 1901 59 48 11 0.288
Also, their album "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" debuts within the Top 50 in the latest HDD tally.
They're a French band BTW. I'm not sure though if they already charted in the US before. I remember seeing video for "Long Distance Call" over here in Manila, and that's it.

These guys are awesome and completely underrated. They hail from the same hotbed as Air and Daft Punk.

This is another song that Hot AC should be all over, rather than resorting to crap from Iyaz, etc.

Oh sorry I just meant that they were both big alternative hits that made the jump to Hot AC. I was mostly joking anyway...I doubt this song will be that big.

Oh sorry I just meant that they were both big alternative hits that made the jump to Hot AC. I was mostly joking anyway...I doubt this song will be that big. Define big..."1901" was a #1 hit on alternative that spent months slowly rising to the top, and is just now starting to potentially cross over. "Fireflies" flew up the alternative chart early on just to peak in the 20s somewhere, and pretty much simultaneously started flying up HAC and CHR. I'm not getting the analogy. If anything, this is the next "Sex On Fire". Now, all we need is the second Phoenix single to be SO big that it stalls the progress of "1901" on pop formats and it has to be released there again after the second single dominates all radio formats. Having heard "Lisztomania" (their second single), I don't think we're going to get a complete analogy there either.

This song must be setting some sort of record for longest climb to the HAC Top 40. That is, assuming it makes it.

Funny how we've got at least 3 year-old threads that are currently on page 1 in this Forum. Anyway, "Lisztomania" made it in the Top 30 of Triple A. It went for adds in Hot AC, but I don't remember making it in the Top 50 there. (I would have bumped that thread if it did. )

'Lasso' is now going for adds on Alternative so they may skip 'Lisztomania' here all together.

I'm hoping that 1901/Lisztomania/Lasso can somehow be #38-40 one week.

Yeah it was a big hit on the alternative chart, but it's not doing much at all on Hot AC. So it's not that big on THIS CHART. I assumed you knew I meant that since we're on the Hot AC forum. Next time I'll try to be more clear.

I don't follow Hot AC much anymore, but I have to wonder...how many of the stations that have it in rotation now are the same as those that had it in rotation when it first appeared in the top 50 almost a year ago?

I know it's weird, but I guess this song doesn't burn, since it spent something like a year on the Alternative chart
I'm guessing that it's probably a big hit on some Modern ACs, but there are so few of them left that songs like this end up hovering in the 40-50 range forever
