Surely this is the longest gap between first entry to the Top 50 and entry to Top 40.

This is awesome. It's a song that belongs on Hot AC.

This is awesome. It's a song that belongs on Hot AC. I agree 100%. This is a case of where HAC really needs to incorporate more songs onto their playlists. There is really no reason this song shouldn't have been on more stations. But maybe stations are starting to pick it up after all. And perhaps it will enter AT40 in about three months and eventually threaten the 113 week record held by "I'm Yours".

But maybe stations are starting to pick it up after all. It's only on 12 stations - I wouldn't be surprised though if handfuls of stations were flip to Modern AC in the next year though and add this as a current, and in that case it could spend another year edging on and off the Top 40 Love the fact that KBIG added this (something like 36x a week I think) - seems weird though IMO to play Rihanna and Phoenix on the same station (just not sure how much of an audience they share) - seems like stations need to choose either the pop direction or the Alternative/Indie direction

Surely this is the longest gap between first entry to the Top 50 and entry to Top 40. Probably - I do remember on CHR in 1996/1997 when Jellyhead's "Crush" spent an eternity bouncing around the 40's. Not sure if it ever became recurrent or not. EDIT: Error on my part. It was "Jellyhead" by Crush, and it spent four non-consecutive weeks at #50, its peak.

"Jellyhead" by Crush, for those of you too young to remember, was picked up by a handful of CHR stations in late 1996, and apparently failed to spread beyond that handful. But those who played it loved it, and the song spent four nonconsecutive weeks at its peak of #50. Its charting pattern was called to mind by the run of "1901".

Yes, there was a band called Crush from Newfoundland. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crush_(band)

Hmm. Never heard of them, which is weird because Newfoundland is such a small province with a limited amount of popular artists (Great Big Sea and Hey! Rosetta are the only ones that come to mind, although there are ALOT of minor folk bands popular in Newfoundland). They looked as to if faded into oblivion after their success in Canda in 2003. Did ya get my PM yet?

Haha I'm sure that'll change once you get a band sorted. Is that your plan? Or you more into the solo stuff?

^ Haha I'd love to start a band if I had the confidence I record stuff by myself and critically review it. If it's no good, I toss it. I do write alot of songs, too. There are some friends that want wanna start a band, but I don't think they're committed enough or ready yet. If I did make a band though, I would jump right into the hard work of promo and stuff to get recognition from a label. Thwen I would love to release my and the ban'ds work to people and have it chart. That would be my fantasy :) But I am planning to be a PD for radio or work with the music industry, at record labels or something, or managing bands. You? lol

You? lol I think it's good to build a fanbase up first, though. Obviously, that doesn't apply to all pop artists. You can build a fanbase from radio airplay, basically. It's certainly different for up and coming rock 'n roll bands. I'm hoping to start another band soon, yes. I'd like to do some kind of fusion thing for sure, as I'm into a lot of different types of rock music.

^ I also if I were to start a band. I would like to infuse my folk roots with some metal or hard rock elements. I also would like to have some rap/rock-like songs also. Maybe even some country elements. Hell, I'll be the next Kid Rock

I am in the middle of starting one. The problem isn't necessarily the musical end of it. The hard part is finding people that can share a vision and stay committed. There are way too many people who just want to say they are in a band and nothing more.

Crush were fairly big in Canada about ten years ago. They had two hit albums. Both members still play together and separately in Halifax fairly often though. I actually did sound for Paul Lamb about six or seven years ago when he did a short set at my university's bar while I worked there. But yeah, newfoundland is pretty interesting when you think about it. I was telling a friend of mine a few weeks ago about how you can be really popular in newfoundland among newfoundlanders even if nobody else knows you. Hey Rosetta might be one of the exceptions because they're actually getting known around Canada but Newfoundland has its own personal celebrities. It's odd yet interesting. Also, since moving away from Newfoundland, I've noticed that it seems like some other singers and bands are hyped up more in newfoundland publications than you'd think. For example, Bon Jovi are HUGE in NL. At least they were while I was growing up until I moved away. And I feel like Elvis is bigger than the Beatles in newfoundland. While growing up, there was always so much written about Elvis yet I rarely ever heard anything about the Beatles. ...oops. Sorry for going SO far off topic. LOL

^ True, most classic rock bands such as Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Metallica, AC/DC, etc are HUGE in NL, probably due to OZ Fm and the other rock stations around NL. The only other stations I've heard in NL besides rock stations is a Hot AC station in Lewisporte or Gander I think and VOCM, a country/folk/talk show radio station.
