Those are two different things though. This: I think what's sick is that our country has millions of people telling you it's not okay to be fat and to have the "perfect body," Is not a problem. It's not ok to be fat and umm... obviously having the perfect body is a good thing. Hence perfect. This: driving dozens of eating disorders is the problem and is not necessarily the result of the first thing, because it's always not been ok to be fat and good to have the perfect body and there hasn't always been a high level of eating disorders.

Did Christina suddenly become 40 pounds overweight? Is that why we're talking about the health detriments of obesity? Because I know people aren't claiming that one is slowly killing themselves because they've put on 10 lazy pounds...
There is so, so much more to being healthy than your BMI.

It's not okay to be fat, I agree. But it's also not okay for the media to shove this perception of beauty in so many girls' faces. I wish more celebrities would encourage women to appreciate their bodies more.

I hope not. This country does not need to empower fat people any more than they already do! Let the eating disorders begin.

I shouldn't have used the term "perfect." What I meant was an image for females to be very skinny as portrayed by people like Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, and others. More like a super model body. The same goes for the males to have the bulging muscles, which many guys just can't get because of how their body is built. I love that this thread turned into a discussion of obesity and it wasn't even caused by discussion of Christina's weight. Especially of this song is just a big ol' raunchy sex anthem. I still stand by my prediction of this song turning out to be about masturbation.

I don't think anyone was insinuating that you have to be "very skinny". The main sentiment was that it's not okay to be fat.

I've seen that commercial before and I don't want to see it again. It scares the crap out of me. :( Sorry but the girl in the mirror is a bit overweight. No she isn't. Most girls, even some of the skinny ones, have a tiny bit of chub in them. And of course, magazines love to airbrush that out.

Keep your thoughts in Europe. America has either obese or super skinny. I want to promote healthy and it makes me sick to hear those comments. You think I have to listen to your prestigious what school do they to douch*university.

Not to take this even more off topic than it already is, but why does it seem like we're having some sort of fat vs. anorexic stan war? Clearly neither are healthy.

UGH the problem isn't just the substandard material it's HER. Stick thin, 'normal', 'chub', overweight. Something about her is just nasty.

I will get back on topic. I think she should go a more soulful root. I don't want an Xtina. I will admit though I did laugh when someone said they don't like 3Xtina.

Well the buzz for this kind of came and went...I'm surprised they didn't follow up the announcement with consistent news items, like an album title or single cover or something.

There was talk that they haven't even 100% made up their minds on the first single.

I wonder who is producing this, if this is going to be a first single.

I love my body. I'm über skinny. I live in America. I contribute to the problem.

I wonder who is producing this, if this is going to be a first single. Apparently, "Love Your Body" is produced by Max Martin, and it samples or it resembles "Time Machine" by Robyn (which is also produced by Max Martin).

Didn't one of Britney or Mariah's songs have a whole thread before it leaked? Maybe I'm misremembering...

"Womanizer" did. I remember because Monroe used it in an argument once.
